Arsenal vs Barcelona - 'The battle of beautiful football'
BR_54 replied to Ryan_1's topic in General Football & Sport
I'm shocked that people believe Arsenal will win this tie... I think Barca will pretty comfortably make it through, i think many people are just jumping on the Arsenal bandwagon - as per every year - saying, "this is Arsenal's year, they have grown mentally" ect ect. IMO they will get put out comfrotably and dominated over both legs, but i will put my hands up if i am wrong. -
There is no doubt Rooney is absolutely huge to United, and without him they are a far less potent side. However, United have a horrible nak of nicking games, with or without Rooney, it is instilled into them. Especially at this point in the season, the run-in.

Arsenal vs Barcelona - 'The battle of beautiful football'

If Gallas starts he'd best be at 100%, or he will be torn a new one. End of. No one defender can go up against a Barca defence unless they are fully match fit. -
Does anyone else fancy Cska to progress against Inter? In the group stages, Inter struggled in both games against Dinamo, and iirc Inter have a couple suspensions in defence for tonight. Furthermore, Inter haven't been setting the world alight of late - they played well against Chelsea but we were shit - and Mourinho is having a moan about not liking Italy the morning of a huge game. I personally can just see them underestimating cska - a cracking side who proved such qualifying through a tough group with some very good performances - and coming up short. Anyone else?

No doubt Vidic and Ferdinand are quality defenders, however, both have had troubled seasons and have shown up against top quality strikers (in particular Torres) that they can struggle, and both - in particular Rio - seem to have lost a half yard/yard of pace. If Anelka, Drogba and Malouda can hit something like top form - assuming this is the front 3 - they can give Utd's defence a torrid time IMO, especially if Malouda is left up against Neville. However, I do worry Utd will win the midfield battle, Chelsea desperately miss Essien's driving force. As for defence, i'm quietly confident with Rooney out. I fear a pacy striker up against Alex and Terry, however Berba doesn't offer that same explosive pace, yet his movement will have to be dealt with. My main fear for Chelsea's defence is on the wings, especially Valencia up against Paulo Ferraira. :/ I can see it being a low scoring draw. A fast start from Utd until Chelsea finally settle in and begin to take control in the second half.

Arsenal vs Barcelona - 'The battle of beautiful football'

Ahright cheers. That's the thing there you see, Barca and Arsenal are both missing arguably their most influential CM's and two of the best in the world... However, to one side it is almost an inconvienience, to the other it is a hammer blow before the game has even begun! (Considering Fabregas fails his fitness test.) -
^ Haha, yeah sorry, Lloris mate my bad! Yeah he's a cracking keeper. Chamakh has some leap on him, that header in the last round against Olympiakos, the header last night, and also he should have bagged another! If Arsenal get him on a free that is a fucking bargain!

Also, the OP has missed out arguably the best central midfielder in the world in Iniesta!? Or is he injured tonight... -

The only way, IMO, you can beat Barca, is to stifle them and play on the counter - the way Chelsea did so effectively in the semi's last year. No team, IMO, can go up against Barca and play their own free-flowing style against them. If Barca get the first goal tonight, I can see them winning by a few. -
I like Bordeaux, IMO they deserved a draw, Coupet made a couple cracking saves. As for tonight, I hope Arsenal win, I don't mind them as much as Utd and Liverpool, and I fucking hate Barca. A Barca Utd final would just be As for the while thing, I hope Lyon or Bayern do it
-
Chelsea's run-in is indeed hard on paper, but we have a perfect record against the top 4 so far this season, and not so long ago going to Spurs used to be 3 point lane for us, so I am quietly confident. Do Utd, and we can afford to draw one of those games and still win it on GD.

fuck Rooney! Drogba Although I do hope to fuck Rooney is out
-
Will this effect someone like me, who just goes on to play games? Tbh none of the above makes much sense to me...
-
Folk who just sit and moan all game. Foreigners who call Manchester Utd, "Manchester". European referees. When a team is 1-0 up with 5 minutes to go, and the ref therefore somehow feels the need to give the opposition every single decision in and around the penalty box. Michel Platini British pundits who put on an accent when talking about foreign teams... "Barthelona" Certain players who can do what they like and get away with it - Gerrard and Rooney spring immediately to mind.

David Haye. The guy isn't arrogant, he's admitted many times that all the talk is part of his tactics to win fights. He is hilarious in interviews aswell.

Who won, cska or sevilla? I hope either of these win it or maybe more realistically Lyon or arsenal although I can't stand the attitude of fabregas -

Inter were good tonight aye, but Chelsea were shocking. And sorry, but from what I have seen of Motta and from what replays we were given of the challenge, the sending off was soft. -
