  4. met with Graeme Souness today to conduct an interview exclusively for FF. The interview took place in the departure lounge of Dublin airport. Graeme, looking fit as a butcher's dog, strode confidently towards me as he left the toilet, and looked ready for what was to be one of his stiffest ever interrogations. Was he ready for a FF grilling, and prepared to bear his soul to the Rangers support? It certainly felt like it as I shook his hand, and asked him the first of many questions he was to tackle. He would pull no punches with his responses. The inquisition started. "How are you Graeme?", I enquired. "Fine fella. Thanks for asking", he responded, with his polite manner belying his stern reputation. I continue the questioning. "Is this you heading to Glasgow to put your consortium proposals to Lloyds?". He laughs and looks me straight in the eye. "I like the easy life these days. Do you think I'm looking for hassle or something?", he says. We share a knowing moment and a smile between us at this comment. He then tries to turn the tables on this intrepid interviewer by asking, "Were you over for the game?", referring to the Ireland V France match, and obviously thinking I might be a plastic. "No, I only support Rangers and my own country", I reply. A slight smile turns the corners of his mouth, as we share one more moment of mutual understanding. He replies, "A man after my own heart", and while the comment encourages me, I resist the temptation to spoil our relationship by mentioning a certain historical event involving the birthplace of Merseybeat. I quickly decide to move the interrogation forward, and I inform him that I watched the game in the pub, and that I was not unhappy that Ireland had been put to the sword. I took his silence at my comment to mean that he agreed wholeheartedly with my sentiments, and continued the interview, and asked him, "Do you not think that you're the man to get the Gers squared up?". He had another laugh, and said, "I like the confidence you have in me." This was a breakthrough, I thought. Graeme Souness was unequivocally refusing to rule out coming back to square Rangers up, and he liked the fact that there were fans who had confidence that he could do that job. I then informed Graeme that, with many others, I'd love to see him back at Ibrox, getting us back where we belong, and taking the media wolves to task. I then ask him when we'll see him coming home: "Maybe I'm getting too old for all that", he says wryly. "Anyway, I think Walter can handle the press all right", he continues. This disappoints me, and I beg to differ, but only inside my head. I now decide that it's time to bring up the subject of the compare the titles.com sticker campaign, and to ask if he endorses the efforts of Rangers fans to sticker the world, with the message of our world record championship victories. Should I just bite the bullet, and ask him straight out to endorse the campaign? I decide against this tactic, and think that it would be best to put Graeme to the test by asking him to endorse the campaign by signing his name on one of the compare the titles stickers.....if he refuses, I will take it to mean he doesn't support the campaign. If he does sign his name, I will take it to mean that he thinks we should get the stickers posted on every public place we can, around the country. As can be seen from the pic below, Graeme decided to unreservedely put his weight behind compare the titles.com, and sign his name, as if it was the first signature on a petition to call for getting it up the Yahoos at every turn. To finish, Graeme specifically asked (without having to actually say the words) that I post a picture of the two of us bonding after his interview. I've reluctantly done this, just to conform with Graeme's (implied) wishes. I would like to thank Graeme for spending the time to have this FF interview, and give the rest of you the opportunity to thank him for sharing his most intimate thoughts with Follow Follow.

  6. http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/vb/showthre...4537&page=3 Few more questions that I would have asked if present... How much is it going to cost to alter and administrate GerSave to become a model capable of progressing fan ownership? Do the Trust have the funds/resources in place to do this? Now that a credible senior former Trust member has suggested Dave King is no longer involved in trying to buy the club, who are the Trust behind now given they publicly backed King's bid 2 weeks ago? I believe Mark Dingwall spoke of unity amongst all the fan groups and websites? Does he or they intend organising some kind of meeting on how best to utilise this unity? Why should people attend whose credible projects he didn't back and personally attacked only a few months ago? I'm all for water under the bridge of course but you'll understand my puzzlement at this change of tact. Genuinely interested in the answers to all these (and the ones posted previously).

  11. SPURS are ready to launch a £2million bid to land Rangers wonderkid Danny Wilson. White Hart Lane boss Harry Redknapp is a massive fan of the 17-year-old def-ender and has been closely monitoring his progress. SunSport revealed in January how the Ibrox club booted out a last-minute bid for the rookie before the transfer window slammed shut. Wilson hadn't even made his debut for Walter Smith's side when Redknapp made the approach. Now the Spurs boss is set to return and will test the resolve of cash-strapped Gers with a fresh offer when the window reopens. Wilson has already made Scottish football sit up and take notice, despite featuring in just THREE games this season. He has been outstanding in them all, especially the 1-1 Champions League draw in Unirea. Gers boss Smith has compared the starlet to ex-Dundee United and Scotland hero David Narey. Despite a £32m debt hanging round their necks, Rangers kicked Spurs' January offer into touch claiming they didn't have to sell to balance the books. But after posting losses of £12.7m the SPL champs could be pressured into flogging Wilson. Redknapp also knows he can do business with Gers, after landing Alan Hutton in a £9m deal two years ago. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/ho...e-up-Danny.html if spurs bid 6 million i would sell but not for 2 million for that they can fuck off

  16. Simon Bain 0 comments Published on 12 Nov 2009 The prospect of financially stricken Rangers being owned by its supporters moved closer after a Scottish expatriate billionaire last night announced plans to buy out the Ibrox club’s £30 million debt to Lloyds Banking Group. The Florida-based businessman and fan told The Herald on condition of anonymity he is “working privately” to ensure the money is repaid soon and bridging funding put in place to ensure a transition to create a supporter-controlled entity, similar to Spain’s Barcelona and Real Madrid. His intervention came as the Ibrox club prepares later today to release its financial results, that are expected to show a loss of up to £8m. The Glasgow-born entrepreneur, whose identity and oversees business dealings are known to The Herald, added: “This opportunity should be used to implement a new mission statement and business plan for the club and its supporters, to put it on to a long-standing business footing along the same lines as Barcelona and Real Madrid. “The club is nothing without its supporters, Rangers should never be an ego-trip or piggy bank for any businessman and should not be used as a ‘for profit’ business.” In the proposal about to be put to Rangers owner Sir David Murray by an English-based specialist finance company, existing bank debt would be replaced with a £30m bridging facility, to be paid down over two years; supporters would invest in Rangers shares over three years, with a target of 15,000 fans subscribing £1000 a year leaving them with a 50% share of the company after three years The chairman would also be re-elected every 12 months and no individual could own more than 5% of the shares with all profits put back into the club. South Africa-based millionaire Dave King is still thought to be the likeliest buyer of all or part of Sir David’s controlling interest. http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/home-ne...m-debt-1.932051

  20. LUCKLESS star Kirk Broadfoot has suffered another set-back in his bid for a Rangers return. The Scottish international stepped back into full training at the end of last month but has since had a reaction, which has hindered his progress. The 25-year-old hasn’t played since March because of an on-going foot problem. The injury was wrongly diagnosed and then he had to have an operation to strengthen the bones in his foot. Broadfoot thought he had got to the bottom of things but has been left in agony in recent days. The Ibrox star faces an anxious wait to see if he needs further surgery or if was just a reaction to his last operation. It is a set back for Walter Smith who is short of defensive cover and was hoping to have Broadfoot back available for the turn of the year. Rangers also hope to find out the extent of Steven Whittaker s hamstring tear and are also waiting for Maurice Edu, Pedro Mendes and Andrew Little to return to full training. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/139632...r-Rangers-star-
  21. Nov 11 2009 By Gary Ralston TONY MOWBRAY dreams of turning Celtic into Barcelona on the field - Rangers fans would love to emulate them off it. The Rangers Supporters Trust have organised a conference at Ibrox this weekend and hope it will be the first step in a move to bring ultimate ownership of the club under the control of the Light Blues legions. Spokesman David Edgar admits it could take up to a decade but it's a road an increasing number of supporters believe is worth travelling with the reigning SPL champs in the financial grubber. They are effectively being run by their bankers, the Lloyds Group, and it's believed further swingeing cuts are planned for the end of the season unless a new owner is found. Edgar revealed they have already held talks with potential new investors in the club, financial heavyweights who have pledged to engage fans like never before. That will do for starters but another vision will be outlined at the Gers Pride conference on Saturday in front of around 250 supporters when key speakers from Hamburg and Espanyol will outline the pros and cons of full fan ownership. Edgar said: "There are clubs in the UK under full fan ownership but they are smaller outfits and people have argued it can't be done with bigger teams. However, there are few bigger than Hamburg, Barcelona or Real Madrid, who are all under the control of their fans. "We're not interested in the Ebbsfleet United model. This is not about supporters choosing who plays up front. "This is about engaging fans to take ownership of something that belongs to every single one of us who has Rangers in their heart. They see the mess our club is in because an us and them mentality has been forged between the club owner and fans in recent years. We have not been engaged - we're asked to pay our money up front and then shut our mouths. "However, we live in an internet world in which people want their say. The days of stumping up and sitting back have gone. "We're pumping millions into our club every year in ticket sales, merchandising and hospitality and are happy to do so but we want to know our voices are being heard and our concerns addressed. We've every right to have a say in where our club is going and if that happens it will bring back a real togetherness and sense of community. "We're not daft,we know therew ill be tough times along the way and that's why Barcelona are the best model for this type of ownership. "Forget the fact they are streets ahead on the field.Their fans accept every few years they have to build a new team and they will go through a spell when they don't win before - boom - it all clicks and they have a few years of fantastic success. "Crucially, they have a plan and they have accountability and we would love a similar say in how our club is run. There's no reason why the club can't be brought into full fan ownershipwithinfiveto10years." Edgar is at pains to stress the Rangers Trust may have organised the Ibrox get-together but are not driving the bus towards change. The Rangers Trust, Supporters Association and Supporters Assembly, who represent the vast majority of Ibrox fans, have joined forces to discuss the future. Edgar added: "This is not about what's best for individual fans nor individual groups of fans but what's best for the club. Let's face it, if we don't get this right we may not have a club at all. "We're not too big to fail - people would have laughed at the thought of the collapse of HBoS 18 months ago.We must work together." Edgar refused to name the wealthy potential investors they have already engaged in talks but admits they have been positive and it's now or never. He said: "They have to be judged by their actions and not their words because we know what it's like to be patronised and ignored. "However, we have spoken to potential investors who are keen to see greater fan representation at board level and for us all to take a greater chunk of the club. "One model could see new owners with 67 per cent of the club and fans 33 per cent, with supporter shareholding increasing year on year. "After all, unless you're Roman Abramovich looking to invest as a hobby it pays for any investor to come in with an exit strategy. It might be heresy for a Rangers fan to say it but similar to the plan Fergus McCann openly revealed when he bought Celtic. "If a new Rangers owner finally leaves the club having returned it to the fans it would be a fantastic legacy." The devil is in the detail, of course, and financial stability is key for a club who are expected to confirm later this week they are s30million in debt. That's a jaw-dropping sum but put into context Edgar points out it's the equivalent of every one of the 150,000 Rangers fan in Manchester for the UEFA Cup Final committing s20 a year for 10 years. He added: "If 50,000 season ticket holders committed an additional s30 a year to become members of the club it would generate around s1.5m annually. There would also be an opportunity for fans to pay additional monthly sums, with member benefits. "That money could be ring-fenced away from the core budget used to pay salaries and other costs. "Members would then have a vote on how to spend the money. "It's about democracy for the fans and government by the fans. It sure beats our current position where we're so close to financial meltdown." http://www.<No links to this website>/football/spl/...86908-21813066/
