I think Leicester have now alerted other clubs we'll have to fight tooth and nail to hold on to him now. I would take £8m for him if we had a bit of time to try and find a replacement but I don't think we have. To be honest I think he's away now.

You're right but if someone comes in with anything over £8M I think Whyte will take it. This is very bad news.

I can tell you that I've known Pat for almost 20 years and he's one of them, a right mickey bastard. Couldny find Parkheid wi Sat-Nav though. He refused to spend when there was a Champions League jackpot up for grabs. He refused to spend when there was Europa League cash there for the taking. Where's all the money went that he was spending on Juhasz, Goodwillie, Verhoek and Cuellar? Your point about spending now to ensure we win the league is a valid one but unfortunately I can't see it happening.

So far he has been disappointing. We really have to hope that Bedoya and MacKay have something to offer in terms of craft and creativity otherwise it could turn out to be a long horrible season.

I disagree. I think our defence is weaker without Bougherra and it remains to be seen if Weir has another season in him. I don't think you can compare Goian and Bocanegra with them and I'm not a huge fan of Bartley either. Up front we still haven't replaced Miller despite several embarrassing attempts at signing Goodwillie. We've also lost Weiss and Diouf. A lot will depend on MacKay and Bedoya and we can only hope they're a big improvement on Ortiz who has done virtually nothing yet. In summary....we've lost the best Centre Back in Scotland, the countries leading goal scorer in Miller, and one of the few players we had capable of going past a man in Weiss. The squad is certainly bigger - is it better? That remains to be seen. We've also lost a quite brilliant manager in Walter Smith. All things considered I'd say we're weaker.

It's obvious we're still short on quality and require an absolute minimum of 2 decent players to come in because quite frankly I'm not convinced what we have is good enough to make it 4IAR - certainly not on the evidence so far. If we don't sign anyone else how would this impact on your opinion of Craig Whyte?

By his own standards he's been very poor but dropping him's not an option.
