The new set up is all about self preservation for the current spl clubs. Even if they finish in the bottom 4 the chances are that they will be too strong for the top 4 in spl2. It's bad enough now with only one team being relegated, imagine what it would be like with the same 12 teams every season, which is very likely. I'm sure i read somewhere that promotion and relegation are one of the stipulations for a league to be recognised by UEFA, I don't think the new set up guarantees that, I may be wrong though.
