  1. I don't know how it goes in Scotland, but in Israel the players' agents and the journalists and reporters are very "close", and leaking anything possible to them. There are even players who are friends with journalists and keep feeding them with inside information from the club, posted as "A unanimous source within the club says...". There are even players here who talk shit about other players in their club just so the reporter will write good things about them in the future and they won't be criticized in the papers.
  2. My pleasure! Actually I was at Ibrox for Haifa's match in the UEFA Cup few years ago (2-0, Novo & Adam ), had a great time. As much as I'll be sad seeing Hemed leaving Haifa I'd be happy if he'd join you. am sure he has what it takes to do well.
  3. Here is the latest update on the matter from a generally reliable source (Hebrew): http://sports.walla.co.il/?w=/7/1832680 It says basically that Hemed's reps are in Scotland trying to come to an agreement, but the delay is caused by a financial matter. It reports that the 8k per week mentioned as his wages as proposed by Rangers already INCLUDES various bonuses. The 8k will be paid in full if Hemed will play a certain amount of minutes, and if the team will achieve a certain amount of league points. That's what holding the deal from being sealed apparently, as Hemed's reps thought that 8k will be NET wage, and they believe that if he is to have a bad season, or Rangers will SURPRISINGLY have a bad season, he'll get as much as half of the 8k a week, so they're trying to sort this one out as soon as possible.
  4. He certainly isn't and wasn't a flop, that's for sure. For a few seasons now he was kept being loaned out to minor clubs because we had other options. In 09-10 he played for John Gregory's Ahi Nazereth and was pretty good although they were relegated. In 10-11 he was finally given a chance in Haifa's first team squad, but started the season on the bench for a couple of games until our 1st choice striker was injured. Then he got into the starting 11 for the rest of the season basically, playing superbly. Even when the other striker got back, our (dumb) manager moved Hemed to the right flank, but it didn't stop him from scoring... He (and no.10 Refaelov who was mentioned here few pages back) was the reason why we eventually won the title. He will be missed, especially in the Champions League qualifiers. The reason for his contract expiring is just bad management on our side. They didn't offer him an extension in the start of the season, and then when he found out about interest from teams in Europe, there was no chance he was going to sign an extension. The same happened at the end of last season with center back Dekel Keinan who moved on bosman to Blackpool (and then to Cardiff City in January). We lost few good millions with those two but I'm sure our boss wouldn't mind if we qualify for CL.
  5. Hi all Gers fans! I'm a Maccabi Haifa fan from Israel and was interested in what you fans have to say about the possibility of Hemed joining you. I'm a big fan of his, and very disappointed that he spent most of his career on loan (played for John Gregory's team last season actually..), and also that our management failed to extend his contract last year. I can tell you that there's nothing in the Israeli press that you don't know of, most of the updates are translated actually from the Scottish papers. Last update is that "signing in 48 hours" statement from yesterday. But the chances of him rejecting the move and deciding to stay with us and try to qualify for the Champions League are very slim. About him as a player, I can tell you that he's a very good striker, and as some of you seen from video clips, he's not the quickest but has good positioning, powerful, intelligent, scores with both feet, great with back to goal and has fantastic headers. He was only selected for the first time for the national team cause he played for minor clubs until this season. Also, he has a great attitude and is modest, unlike Kayal (who lied to our manager that he's injured and couldn't join our pre-season camp only to fly to Scotland and sign for your beloved neighbors). If he signs I think he'll be a good one, if given time to adapt. About the Work Permit, he recently submitted a request for a Polish passport (his mom was born there), but am not sure if he got that eventually, he had probably. But the most important thing you get from this deal is his girlfriend who'll probably join him! Good day!
