  1. ...and some of us can even remember being at big Colin's first game for us ;-)))))))))))
  2. Maybe, but I think Ellis (as indeed others) actually believed that the tax issue was at the parent company level and that the subsidiary, in this case RFC, was "immune" (they used the EBTs through the Murray Group). Then either Ellis saw through that or Murray changed his mind somehow, and decided to pass it down. I'm still uncertain however, why the 18 mill liability should have attracted so much attention, given as we see here, the magnitude of the Murray Group overall liabilities to Lloyds. Will we ever know..?
  3. To some extent you're right, but the word was that Murray (and Lloyds) had done due diligence on him and didn't like what they saw.....but when CW showed up either they couldn't be bothered to do any more investigation ... or CW was a real smooth operator.
  4. Just received by Black & Red scarf from a mate who was at the Legends game.;-)) So now feel I can speak on a level playing field ... well it's a good line anyway. This piece would pretty much confirm that the downfall in the metals business has had the knock-on effect, with Murray being forced by Lloyds to start the payback. The fact that he couldn't offload it when he started to say he would (a few years back), suggests that the pressure from the bank became too much for him, so rather than being "duped" as he contends, he grabbed the first chancer that came along. This whole thing stinks....RFC was nothing more than petty cash!!
  5. Until we know what the bid STRUCTURE is, and what the BTC looks like, there is no way to make even a wild guess. Not only that, but I am wary about ONLY the Administrators making the decison alone. If we even had Walter or someone that I can trust in the same room at the time I'd feel better.
  6. Good post mate - more so for being your first. Keep your powder though cos sure as fate, at some stage you'll get hammered by someone ;-)) Anyhoo, your points are well made. There is a clear and separate distinction between (a) the Club and (b) the company that owns the Club. The former (b) can go into liq (not needed in this case), or come out through a CVA as a new legal entity, but the former (a) will totally survive as a business and maintain its history. Although, I'm not sure if we need to buy (or sell) Goodwillie - or am I missing the point on that one ? (couldnae resist ;-)) I see that SDM is now trying to sell his core metal business "either in whole or in parts"......sounds he needs to be duped (again) by an asset stripper. If I could find CW (again), and I put them two together, could I claim a finders fee...?
  7. I didnt know about the Arsenal shares I admit. Having said that I do care about the history, but wouldn't lose too much sleep....but here's the big question IMO...........WHY did he sell them..? Did he just rake around the cupboards to see what he could flog, and have a jumble sale. Was he really that desperate to get in any wee bit of cash he could grab..? I suppose they'll be a bike sale next !!!
  8. Ok now that we've got that nonsense over with let's get back to discussing RFC..... my thinking all along has been that the HMRC big case has been negotiated (why would anyone bid without knowing about it). So, when I see 10 mill TBK bid I get confused ... if we "owe" 18 mill to Lloyds then that would be the starting point....add on (wild guess) another say 10 mill under a CVA (x pence on the pound), that gets to about 30 mill give or take. Wouldn't that be the minimum bid range...? The only change to that as I see it would be that lloyds would not take a CVA pence in the pound, BUT given that Ticketus money was "used" to pay them off, then they are done and dusted - then the amount "owed" to Ticketus (let's just take the 18 mill for the moment), was advanced through a CW personal guarantee, so they go against him.....but either or both WOULD be subject to a CVA pence on the pound..end result being that my 30 mill above, would be reduced by the CVA pence in the pound.......thus ending with a bid range nearer 20 mill. Christ, now I'M confused...!!! anyhoo, I just think that a due diligence bid, and process, and weeks of investigating, to end up with only 10 mill seems bizarre.
  9. Several multi-millionaires in a consortium and all they can come up with is :- "The Blue Knights’ bid is believed to be worth £10m" That's gonna cover the Administrators fees and nothing else. Feeling depressed again
  10. Why would anyone complain about the Government helping us..? Isn't that what they are there for..? If Government helped other clubs in similar positions how many of us would be angry...?
  11. Liquidation (If it occurs, and there is NO need for it to do so) will not erase our history. No-one - repeat no-one - will ever take away my well over 50 years of supporting and following RFC. They will never take away my memories of Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Slim, Laudrup, Gazza, Coop, Sally, Champions League nights, Cup Finals at Hampden, a Cup Final (1998) at the Piggery when we lost to Hearts even .... never be taken away. However we emerge at the other side of this debacle, Ibrox will still be there, we will still go there to watch our football, the team will still play in Royal Blue, and the name will still be RANGERS. Period........... RTID
  12. Please let me pay him back. Please. "£1 wasn't it Craigy boy..?"
  13. From the BBC site this morning : "The preferred option remains a CVA and it remains an option for all of the bidders," co-administrator Paul Clark told a number of newspapers. That just says we would PREFER a CVA but we're actually going to do something else. We need to be made aware of all bids and all of their options BEFORE any bid is agreed surely......how can we have a voice at the decision table, or is it solely the Administrators who decide, THEN merely tell us as a fait accompli...???
  14. No 1 priority on Bain's list was Bain. #2 was Bain. #3 was RFC. There was no way he would have resigned because he would have had no comp claim. He should have resigned, given what he's saying now, on the same day CW put his pound on the table, but didn't He knew the boot would come in, one way or another, so he hung in there knowing that a legal claim would be his recourse. Simple as that. He was told by some fans (!!) that a deal that included CW and Ellis was doomed to fail. NOW he says he agrees - he didn't at the time ....hmmmmm!!!
  15. Slim, without a doubt. Many great memories, but the best was a cup game against East Stirling in Falkirk, midweek night game - maybe mid-60s...!! Shire Park was very small and you could be right on the touchline almost. At one point,he was right in front of me (almost touching distance), about the half way line. he dangled the famous left pin and chipped a ball straight along the line - it dropped right in front of Willie Johnson, who without letting it hit the ground, left footed it over on to the head of (I think) Forrest - right in the back of the net. Still can see it now.
  16. If it's her that's saying that I'll agree.
  17. Their ice cream melted last Sunday. They don't need any this Sunday. So how many Thims will show up today to watch a meaningless game...??? Hmmmmmmmm !!!
  18. To the 983 guests on here right now.........welcome to the home of the Scottish Champions.
  19. I have to admit that like most of us, I am at a loss to know where we are. I've said before, that until we know the outcome of the tax case, I'm damned if I know how anyone could bid. Now I'm concerned that because the Administrators have given this Wed deadline - in the absence of the tax decision - that they know that liquidation is the only way out of this. Why would they place a deadline knowing that the largest creditor amount is unknown - that seems wacky to me ..... unless of course, the liquidation has been the plan all along. In other words, they're saying we dont care about the tax decision cos it wont matter anyway. There are any number of things going on behind closed doors and we dont know who is who any more. One thing I do know is that when the book, "What really happened", is written, it will be a best seller. And you know for sure, sure, sure that any number of journos and others are working furiously to get it drafted...keep that in mind, when you read some of this stuff.
  20. Yes, it is called Semolina. It's in the Piazza Lorenzo Ghiberti (about 15 "blocks" north of the Cathedral (Duomo) - they make you most welcome if you say you're a Bluenose. It's nothing fancy, but the food is good. Amo isn't there too often but if he's in town he pops in about 9.30-10.00 pm
