The problem with playing Ronaldo up front on his own is that it gives the opponents two big centrebacks to defend against him. Playing him on the right against a slower, smaller player such as Sylvinho would have been a lot more effectice I would have thought.

To be fair to Ferdinand he hadn't played 3 or 4 games before last night. Still to leave the smallest player on the pitch unmarked is just shoddy. I thought it was a bad decision to play Ronaldo through the middle. You would have thought that he would have let him run at Sylvinho who hasn't really featured much for Barca this season. Tevez should have been in place of Giggs. His workrate, pressing and strength on the ball would have been a lot more suited to dealing with Xavi and Iniesta. That's true. But considering we have Bougerra, Thomspn, Edu, Davis and Lafferty that are caplable of being first team players week in, week out. Fleck looks promising, Whittaker has a chance on recent form, Weir will need replaced and Papac is basically just a stand in till we can find someone better ( I think ). We might not win the league again for a season or two but in the long run we could produce a very fine team or if it comes to it, sell for a very hefty profit. I think those players mentioned would be able to beat the likes of Kanus anyway.

I dont think this rule covers the calibre of the squad on the field, rather it has to do with you must have 11 players. If you field 10 players for example then it would break the rule because you would not be fielding a full strength team. There is no way the F.A can decide for a team who thier strongest/best players are.

TBH I would( responding to the original topic). The back four we couldn't do much about due to who we have available but it should have been a 3 man central midfield. We could have Ferguson sitting back and Mendes and davis in front of him, who are more creative and better getting forward. Novo on the right, miller on the left for thier abillity to run at players and pace and a lone stiker ( I dunno who) We were doing okay untill KB tried to get his leg over...it was thier first shot on target ffs.
