  1. mambawsa and smile - have you actually got anything to contribute to the thread or just neg reps?
  2. Every reason you mention no doubt played a part in the players thoughts, and every one of them no doubt left as bears. But...if laudrup had 5k more a week on offer from Chelsea, Gazza the same from spurs and numan or gio similar from say psv would they have joined us in the first place? Everyone does what they have to to make sure they and their family are secure, and making the most of a short career is a big part of that. For most players it's usually about money, we've benefited from that a lot of times, so we shouldn't complain when it goes against us.
  3. Aye, and where would that have left us if Naismith, mcgregor, Davis and Whitaker had Tupe'd? Apart from 1 million down every 3 months?
  4. :thumbs up: to the autocorrect for Hearts (SFL3 feeder club)
  5. Fucking iPad. It corrected understand to Nederland the first time - probably got excited with the gio and numan chat! And it tried to put ducking instead of fucking there!
  6. Our recent predicament has got me thinking about money in the game, all this shit black, templeton, Sandra have had for signing for the biggest club in the country as if it was a backward step. "they're only signing for you for the money", "it's a backward step". As if zaliukas, skacel, etc went to Hearts (SFL3 feeder club) for anything but money, or ledley, commons or anyone else to that mob. Anyway, looking back at our top foreign players from the 90s onwards, how many would have considered the gers in the first place if it wasn't for money. Gazza, laudrup, albertz, amoroso, numan, gio to name a few. If they couldn't earn at least as much at the gers as they could elsewhere what were their incentives to come to Scotland? It wasn't the weather! If that's accepted, and I know it won't be by all, since most of us have loved the club since we were as young as you can understand the game and see it as an innate thing, then why do we love those players, but feel exactly the opposite for the Scottish born ones who decided to follow the money away from us when the future was uncertain at the gers, and at best would have required a slash in earnings?
  7. "the helicopter is changing direction"! Fucking loved that day. Was in the canaries in a rangers pub getting served the beers by a lassie that was running about outside taking orders while we were all standing in the sun because there was no room inside. Ended up drunker than I can('t) remember! Edit: typo
  8. If you accept 24k, 24k, 12k for the 3. Based on mcgregor and Whitaker figures being quoted about that last year and Naismith based on an average you'd have more than 3 million a year. Just remembered Davies, another 1 million a year there.
  9. Green is playing a blinder. Especially with the threat not to accept the invite to the SPL. Our gates have shown that we are the biggest draw in the country. The spl teams are watching all the other wee teams seeing us fill away grounds every other Saturday and will be watching us go throw the leagues increasingly desperate to have us back. Once the SFL realise they have a bigger tv audience than the spl and can sell out away grounds every week they'll realise they can renegotiate their own tv deal, the clubs there will want us to stay with them already. The euro coefficient will be fucked in 3 years, with 3 qualifiers being needed to get near any money worth talking about, so where does the advantage lie in us getting back to the spl? They have nothing to offer us. As soon as we tell the spl we're not interested they realise they don't have all the power any more and can stop their hate filled pish.
  10. To be fair to the op, boca and Goian were available for peanuts after they Tupe'd over and nobody came in with a permanent deal for them. If mcgregor, Naismith, and Whitaker had Tupe'd over and nobody had came in for them, the club would have had to honour their contracts and between the three that would have cost us 3million plus quid per year they had left by my reckoning. Are my maths wrong?
  11. Bottom line is. This year was an unknown to all concerned - spl, SFL, sky, Espn, bbc, the public, etc, etc - this year so far has shown that rangers are the biggest draw in Scottish football, no matter what division we're in. If things continue as they are and tv rights come up for renegotiation for the spl/SFL in the next two years, the SFL are in a very strong position to demand a deal similar to the spl due to the higher viewing figures they could guarantee. If that happens, and the euro coefficient continues to fall, where's the benefit of going back to the spl?
  12. Right now, there's no doubting that there's a novelty factor around things and our support is feeling good about things. It's shown by an atmosphere at ibex that's been missing from most games for a long time now. But, we're kidding ourselves if we think this feeling would last for decades playing against the level of opposition we are. This is fun for now, but that's because we see it as part of our journey back to where we have been for the vast majority of our long history, at the top of the game in Scotland. Is anyone seriously telling me that after everything we've been through, they can't wait for the possibility of going top of the spl and being able to look down on every one of the teams who tried to force us out of existence? From reading this thread, you'd think we'd be struggling to sell our allocation at Celtic park for the next time we play there. Seems unlikely.
  13. It's embarrassing to see mcgregor mentioned in this list.
  14. Your son's name's unusual. I blame the Beckhams.
  15. Welcome guest number 402. I'm glad you all find our "new wee club" that has "no history"' so much more interesting than whatever your wee team are doing on transfer deadline day. Since you're so interested in Rangers, you might be pleased to hear we still have a very small number of season tickets available at our 50000 seater stadium. As ever, you're all only here to see the Rangers. Then, now, forever.
  16. I like it. Think it probably looks better without the commas too. The first star looks like the outline might need a wee touch up on the left side once it's healed. Where'd you get it done?
  17. Nice and nicely. Two under-used words in football. No,wait. They're not!
  18. Any update on this from the OP?
  19. It is our national dress, whether you like it or not. What's your nomination as Scotland's national costume?
  20. Aye, few doors down at the Taverna. If you've ever got the option, stick to the black bull!
