  1. They absolutely don’t deserve to have their personal lives affected over years old tweets. I’ve been very clear on that. The whole thing is an agenda driven witch hunt. However, consistent with that, I don’t rejoice in someone else getting trouble in similar circumstances. I fear this is going to run and more on our side will get the same treatment. We can’t have hypocrisy though so if the H&H guys are experiencing this then those on the other side should expect the same and I understand why most are happy about this burd getting binned. I just think this targeting of bloggers, tweeters etc is a race to the bottom. They are meant to hate us and we are meant to hate them. I preferred it when that was understood and accepted. It’s the likes of Dornan, Stewart etc who are the real problem.
  2. The ones that are using their jobs to fuck us are fair game. The DR, the SNP WhatsApp gang, the failed trialist - I’ll be delighted if they get fucked over. Also, if Rangers fan media is fair game then I agree theirs has to be as well - anything else would be hypocrisy. I think some of us are just lamenting thats its got to this and are concerned where it ends. Who gets targeted next etc. I’m amazed her firm let her play an active role on a site like that. I’ve worked in similar places all my career and the partners would have been all over that. We also routinely screen social media accounts of applicants. She’s been very naive.
  3. I don’t know anything about that girl beyond what’s on here, which is that she’s a lawyer and involved in a celtic fan media site. Someone has trawled her old tweets, publicised them and she’s lost her job. Meantime, the DR have targeted a Rangers fan media site, trawled their tweets, publicised them and now the H&H guys are having a horrible time. As far as I’m aware these arn’t connected in the sense that she wasn’t involved in the DR stuff. If she was then she’s fair game like the DR journos - I’m all for exposing hypocrisy. But if not, then we’re revelling in someone involved in fan media getting fucked over for old tweets while being furious about two H&H fan media guys getting fucked over for old tweets. As I said earlier, happy for them to see that this campaign will take its toll on their people as well. On a personal level I can take no pleasure from anybody losing their career over tweets sent years ago when they were young.
  4. People saying the blonde girl deserves to lose her job, get struck off etc - how do you feel about the H&H guys having their personal lives affected? Some of the stuff they tweeted (not Edgar) was pretty ropy, especially the stuff about women etc. Don’t see how you can think she should get dragged over the coals and they should get a pass. Regardless of who’s doing it ancient tweets getting dragged up and used to fuck someone over just feels wrong to me. We all did stupid shit when younger - thank God I didn’t have social media back then. Too much self righteous bullshit. I appreciate the need for parity and the need to expose hypocrisy. The DR staff are fair game after what they pulled. Lets not start pretending we’re actually offended by this nonsense though - leave that to those pathetic wankers.
  5. I said a few pages back that the BurnessPaull management are ruthless and she’d be having a bad time. Not surprised at all she’s gone - inevitable. While it’s satisfying to see some parity I don’t feel good about a young person losing their job - and seriously changing the course of her career (none of the other similar firms will touch her) over hurty words on the internet, that none of us actually think are hurty and we’re just highlighting in the interests of fairness and to call out hypocrisy. Hopefully this makes a few of the hypocrites realise this nonsense comes at a cost for “their” people too. How did it ever get to this (oh yeh, we didn’t die then won the league).
  6. BurnessPaull is a very large firm with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. It’s not full of that lot - will be a mix like anywhere else. What I would say is that the management are ruthless - always have been. If the firm is getting tagged all over sectarian stuff on Twitter she’s not going to be having a nice time.
  7. Interesting to see how the club play this. They’ve come up with nothing on Edgar - that tweet they have highlighted is desperate. Some of the other stuff is bad but it predates the club’s current campaign.
  8. I agree that our fan behaviour is judged to a different standard than theirs. There’s also a concerted campaign to paint pretty much everything that our fans do or sing as sectarian. As soon as we won it was inevitable the hand wringing would start. That said, the videos of the march in town - assuming they arn’t dubbed - are just an open goal for politicians and journalists who want to put the boot in. Unnecessary in my view. Thought the display was brilliant though.
  9. Agreed - the arbitration is very narrow in scope. I was responding to the suggestion that all parties to the arbitration are bound by it - as regards Parks and any claims it may have, that’s just wrong.
  10. Yeh, but they don’t get to arbitrate viz a viz Parks on Parks rights under its contract with Rangers. Let’s say Parks has a contract that clearly says Rangers can’t advertise a rival business. If Rangers breach that then Parks remedy is against Rangers. The arbitration will have no bearing on that. I assume Parks want to be at the arbitration to have a seat at the table and explain their view on their rights under the existing contract. If Rangers are effectively forced to breach their contract with Parks due to the arbitration decision (seems extremely unlikely if the contract is clear) the Parks might have a court remedy against the SPL. Again, don’t see how the arbitration has any bearing on that.
  11. Whoever is responsible for letting that go out at 6pm on bbc1 should get fired. Trying to zoom in when he’s getting cpr; showing his wife in bits. I can’t believe what I just saw.
  12. After the last accounts the consensus from folk on here who understand these things was that we would have to sell in the summer to balance the books. I don’t see what would have changed that so think we need to be realistic and expect a few departures with most of the cash getting banked.
  13. I read an article earlier where the super league teams were saying they have to do this to make money because live in person sport is worth less than it used to me and they are losing money. Here’s a crazy idea then - stop spending obscene amounts on transfer fees, paying ludicrous amounts to players and (in some cases) paying massive dividends to investors. You’ll then find you can manage just fine on your already massive income. Utter cunts.
  14. Something was happening in the tunnel. Goldson said the team waited for them outside the dressing room. The Slavia phone video shows them looking through the doors at something. The gaffer pretty much acknowledged something went on in his interview. Don’t believe for a second that Kamara smashed the guy and the video of him getting on the bus shows he was fine, but something went down. The UEFA reps will presumably have seen it all so it will come out eventually. Slavia management are utter wanks. The way they have handled this and tried to spin it has been shocking. Could easily have just said they take it very seriously, will cooperate in investigation (and take appropriate action if he’s found guilty) but for now their player is denying it.
  15. Market St works have been suspended until 8pm to allow for the football traffic.
  16. I live up here. Local radio reporting this morning that he was forced to leave Soul after a bunch of drinkers started on him.
  17. Yeh, less of a issue for folk travelling in from the south. However, the new roundabout at the bypass will be bad. Not designed for a stadium nearby. Heard they are thinking of putting lights on it.
  18. Unless you live up here you probably wouldn’t realise what a shite location this is for a stadium. It’s about 8 miles out of town. The road is it notoriously bad at peak times. AFC have sold the Council assumptions about folk taking shuttle buses, using a park and ride a few miles down the road etc. but traffic will be a fucking nightmare on match days. Midweek kick offs will be particularly awful for anyone using the road. If they start to struggle (and third place is the best they can hope for from now on) attendances will collapse. It’s not that long since they were down at 8000 and that had nothing to do with shit toilets at Pittodrie - the team was terrible. There is a massive hole in their funding. They probably have just about enough cash pledged to crack on with the training centre but they’ll need the cash from Pittodrie plus another £25m or so to build the stadium. I can only assume they’ll look to raise that from fans, sponsors, rich locals etc. I can’t see commercial lenders being too interested. So, even if the remaining planning issues get resolved it could be years before they get the stadium up and running.
  19. Had a look at the Aberdeen City Council planners report. There’s a proposed planning condition that AFC can’t start building the stadium part of the development unless they have build a footbridge over the road alongside the site and sort out a controlled parking zone (covering pretty much all of Westhill within 30 mins walk of the site). The bridge will be in Aberdeenshire and will need planning permission from Aberdeenshire Council, who opposed the development. Westhill is also in Aberdeenshire - don’t see how the parking restrictions can be rolled out unless Aberdeenshire Council are on board. So, even when the Aberdeen councillors approve the planning permission there is a long way to go with this. I reckon the Scottish Government will end up getting involved to sort it out.
  20. Na, it’s Aberdeen City - site is right up against the city boundary.
  21. So, Aberdeen Council planning department have today issued their report recommending approval of the AFC application citing the great economic benefits. Utter fucking joke - carve up from the start. Zero chance the counsellors won’t approve it now so looks like the sheep will get their planning permission on Monday. Hope they bankrupt themselves trying to build it.
  22. Aberdeen start moaning like fuck, the Council get it in the neck and Stuart Milne calls the SNP and asks them to call it in and override the Council a la Trump course. If they get permission the residents group will seek a judicial review of the decision. A few of the counsellors might be wary of that if the planners recommend refusal. Don’t know how long that will take but Aberdeen won’t be able to do any real work meantime. Someone said up the thread that they’ll be fucked financially if they don’t get it. I disagree. They are currently doing okay - dumped their debt, brought in some new investment, crowds up. The development is estimated to cost £50m. If you assume they’ll get, say, £10m for Pittodrie then they are still about £35m short. That’s 3-4 times their annual turnover. No idea how they will fund that. I could see them building the training facilities and then leaving the stadium section lying undeveloped for years. If they do build it then there will be some extra revenue (Scotland games, boozer on site etc) but attendances will tail off when folk realise it’s a pain in the arse spending 90 minutes in traffic to get out of town to watch a team scrapping for 3rd place.
  23. I think there’s a decent chance the planners will recommend refusal - that’s why AFC are trying to whip up the public pressure. Not sure what the counsellors will do.
  24. It was meant to be decided in a full council meeting last October. A couple of days before the hearing AFC asked for the vote to be postponed, following a meeting with the council. The story is that they had been told at the meeting that the council we’re going to recommend refusal. They’ve spent the last few months trying to address some of the problems with the application. The big problem they have is that the land is zoned as green belt in the local development plan and there are two other sites shown on the plan for a new stadium - one at the beach behind the existing midden and the other over near Cove where they got permission a couple of years ago. They’ve been trying to justify why neither of those sites are suitable - basically, they want to conjoin the stadium and training facilities and are refusing to split them, so they argue they need a 50 hectare site (Ibrox is about 8 hectares) and there’s nothing that size closer to the city centre. They’ve also produced an economic impact report (which is utter fucking shite) to show how great it will be for the area and to justify a development on the green belt. The site is right on the boundary with Aberdeenshire. Aberdeenshire Council are against it. It’s 8 miles from the city centre. There are no trains up here so everyone will have to drive or come by bus. Stuart Milne is too used to getting his own way up here.
