... is a suitable middle ground in the Hutton saga?
I'd say it's more or less inevitable that he will leave, if not before the window then in the summer. As much as a man can love a club, his career will inevitably come first. A footballer has a limited career span, Im sure Alan will realise this and, like Barry before him, hedge his bets and try his hand down south in one of the best leagues in the world. While he won't be guaranteed Europe every season and certainly not the Champions League, he will be playing against some of the best talent in the world week in, week out.
Basically, what would you be happy with out of all this in an ideal yet realistic scenario?
Personally, I'd be more than happy to see Alan stay until the end of the season, hopefully get his hands on some silverware. I feel he may be rejecting Spurs in favour of the Man Utd interest coming in during the summer but either way, I'd take £9/10m at the end of the season for him plus add-ons and hopefully see one of our own blossom into one of the finest full-backs in the world. The money would help us strengthen the squad and just the presence of a Rangers Youth Development product at such a high level can only boost it's reputation.
EDIT - Crap, wrong forum. Who looks like a tard now?
