  1. I was thinking this earlier, even more so: with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, we should have let some of them go last summer when we would have got 500k/750k for Kiernan, Waghorn, etc. Those who know much more about the game than me were calling out our weaknesses in defence and attack and saying the team wasn't fit for the top flight. A better manager, less in love with his own opinion, would have seen this and acted. As it was we have a championship-winning side with the addition of Krancjar when fit and Joe Garner, which is not enough. Mind you, it says something about the dire state of the Scottish game when the team that has come up from the Championship has got a top three finish in the Premiership in the last two years: today's results prove that, apart from them and possibly the sheep, there's nothing to choose between the rest in terms of quality.
  2. very nice, and probably the best we can hope for given what we've got.
  3. This. If the board sanctioned a million pound a year salary for Joey Barton, knowing the risks (which they did, at 20K a week), then they'll pay FDB a million because he is staunch. TBH I would not be surprised if Rossiter and Barton were the end of Warbs in King's eyes: between them, they have amounted to 1.5m pounds for Sweet Fanny Adams...
  4. Interesting, I think I agree. In some ways you could -- not saying I agree - but you could make the argument it's all bad luck: Joey B looked like he wouldn't be a walloper for us, but then turned out to be (and now is being one at Burnley again); Niko getting injured, Rossiter not turning out, etc - and as for Warburton, well, we might have got another year out of him and to be honest I don't think they expected to get more. Remember he took over a Scottish Championship Club - a lot of Championship managers in England wouldn't have looked at it. But in reality I think all of this "bad luck" we've had is what happens when you chuck money at a problem and try to paper over the cracks and find quick fixes. Even Fiorentina have not fully returned to their former glories and they are now 6-7 years post administration. 2012 was a blow it was always going to take 5+ years to recover from, even if we'd played youths in League Two and not spent the money like some wanted us to. There have been more mistakes along the way than you would expect, but some mistakes are inevitable, many more when you have Charles Green at the helm. What makes the present all the more galling to fans is that they are currently at the height of their powers as a result of the reinvestment/reinvention that they have had under way for more than ten years. We're still on our way back - but never doubt but that we'll get there. And yes, maybe David Murray was the start of the problems.
  5. Play Joe Do fucking Doo, please. Think we should go like this: Fod Hod Wilson Hill Wallace MOH Hyndman Holt Baz/Forrester (can't decide) Joe Dodoo Kenny
  6. RK has some points to prove, no doubt. A win would be nice as we would go eight clear of HMFC with 14 left to play, and go back level with the sheep...
  7. This. And if we are comfortable at 60 mins maybe bring on Joe D (or Joe G, but I prefer former) to see how he partners with Kenny?
  8. Fod Tav Wilson Hill Lee (Hod if not fit) MOH Toral Emerson Baz Garner Miller Forrester on for Baz if he's having a bad night; Waggy on for garner ditto. Holt as replacement mid if necessary
  9. if it weren't for the lassitude and partiality of the BBC, this individual would be on benefits. Surely he must realise if he loses his job he will never work again - except in their PR department, very much as he is at the moment...
  10. We've all seen it at our work: someone in a senior job doesn't work out and gets fired. Then they get someone else in who has none of the same faults as the last person - but plenty of their own... If you were the board now, you could see them saying "Fuck it, we need a footballer through and through. Someone who's been a pro and done it on the pitch. A man who won't take any pish and won't try to be political. Someone who'll run the players until they boak and tell them if they fuck up on Saturday they'll never play again", etc - in other words, someone who is the polar opposite of Warburton. What worries me is that Billy Davies kind of fits that bill...
  11. ^This. Do any of the pro/semi-pro coaches on here know what we are looking at? If he's outside running, is there a chance he could be back by end of April/early May? Irony is we appear to be well served with Emerson in that position, but still...
  12. 100% he would have put away two of those chances that fell to Garner. He MUST start against Morton. Off topic, but I would bring JD in up top and keep the same back line - Senderos did enough to win a run of games today in my opinion, and might be a confidence player - only other change is to put Holty in the CDM role and have Toral and Emerson left and right Mid.
  13. agree. And I will get pelters for this but -- while we rode our luck -- Ross County are lucky to have that goalie. Otherwise it was 4-1 rangers.
  14. OP is right. When he took Emerson off I thought WTF are you doing? McInnes in?
  15. Fair play. So who in that slot, then? Holt? Not exactly spoiled for choice....
  16. How's this... Fod Hodson Wilson Hill Wallace Tav Hyndman Toral Dodoo Garner McKay I have been saying for ages Joe Dodoo deserves his chance. Am I the only one who thinks Waghorn looked slow and overweight tonight? Now's the time to do something brave. EDIT - am working with what we've got here. I know a lot of people want people sacked, chucked, etc but trying to live in the real world. Also Cathro has plainly told them two things: 1. Press hard, all the time. 2. Try risky stuff - backheels, overheads, shots from way out, whatever - take risks. We need to do something similar.
  17. would have given him a start myself but here's hoping you are right...
  18. Love the pic of Wes. I would like Joe Dodoo to get a run-out if possible. Harry looked hungry last time, though. Nice problems to have - though they aren't our only ones...
  19. 103 goals for the club. 10 against them. 9 this term so far. Three spells with the club. Talks himself about wanting a coaching role when he hangs up his boots. Really? Less of a legend than McPayPacket?...
  20. This is my team as well. Harry on for either Waggy or Josh depending on how the game goes. This team will hump them 3-0 IMHO
  21. Yes. Barring the return of on J Rossiter, your other option would be to play Barrie in the hole behind Kenny and Waggy as two strikers and have the midfielders sit a little deeper. Might stop Kenny from coming back quite as much. But yeah, no real CDM apart from Halliday...
