  1. Today needs to be the day we should have had at the end of 2011/12.

Total clear out required. Keep the youth and let the new manager decide if they will play a part.

I only wanted McCall on a short term basis and only given the job if we started to play attractive passing football and won the play offs comfortably and even then I would only have given a 1 year deal.

Whether it's warburton, Cathro, mcinnes or Jose mourinho it's going to be a big job this summer.

  2. Crucial time now. The board have to move quick to appoint a manager, pretty sure it won't be McCall though.

A good appointment and good signings that we can get behind then yes we will have a good shout of winning the league.

Just can't stomach another play off battle next year.

  3. You stood up to the plate when we needed you, probably the worste time possible to get a shot at the job, but you did your best with someone elses mess.

I want another man in but you can walk away with legend status intact wi me mate......

Was always going to be a long shot. Truth is the players couldn't perform when we needed it most.

  4. The problem is that in a back 3 you really need the three to defend, Foster wouldn't really be getting forward they way he tries to with a back four so when it comes to purely defending I would reluctantly choose Moshni. :(

So zaliukas played great for 4 games, he had an off night last night and suddenly mohsni or foster are considered ahead of him?

  5. I have seen a distinct lack of effort in his play at times, especially going forward. He is not the player we had when he was being creative at his best.

I agree his performances have dropped of late but he has the quality within him.

There was a lack of effort going forward from many last night. When Walsh went on his run before having a shot from 25 yards I looked at other players around him...law just walking and watching Walsh is not what I'd want to see. The lack of movement up front was evident and vuckic played a part in that.

  6. We need workers in this match. He has went missing at important times. You were happy with what he offered last night, or at Easter Road? We need more commitment, from all the players.

Vuckic is a worker, there have been many times he tracked back (did so last night as well) he just had an off game. He needs to take a long hard look at his performance, he knows he can do better.

The man management side of things needs to come into play now. Give the players a dressing down for their individual and collective performances and then build them back up to be in the right frame of mind for Sunday. We need to have 11 lions on the pitch. The times when players have played through the pain and given everything for the club, that's what we need. If vuckic isn't in that frame of mind then he should be dropped for someone who is.

  7. Robinson

    McCulloch Zal Wallace

    Walsh Murdoch Sheils Ferguson

    Vuckic

    Boyd Miller

Just attack attack attack from first whistle to last.

Also we have to have fast or powerful players on the bench. So that means Hardies, Gallaghers, Templetons, McKays etc.

This line up for me too. Walsh and Ferguson to run at them, get to the byeline to drill crosses between defenders and keeper. Their defence is as poor as ours in my opinion, we just didn't approach things the right way until the last 20 mins. Let's get them caking themselves from the off.

  8. 10 years ago with a title seemingly heading to them something unexpected happened at fir park, something that was against the odds. If anything shows that there is still a chance as long as there is time left on the clock in the tie its this. Fir park can be the place where a miracle happens again and we overturn this 3-1 deficit.

Yes last night was an abject and disjointed performance until the wide men came on we had no real threat but Motherwell had the performance of their season and I doubt they'll replicate it on Sunday. We need to get be cautious at the back but have fast players as the out ball i.e. Ferguson and Walsh, play Boyd up front and drill crosses across the face of the goal.

We lost the battle in the centre of the park and as much as people slate law he had Pearson as a man possessed as his shadow and there's a chance he'll miss Sunday so I wouldn't bring black into the fold for law or shiels.

Some of the players must have had the same attitude that the tie was over before it started like many on here and at the game last night. The attitude of Motherwell was as ours was against his and should have been tonight. I want the 11 to put their bodies on the line for the club to give everything as they have against hibs and it just wasn't there.

Now it's up to McCall to give them an absolute roasting and dressing down to hen build them back up for Sunday.

So what we need is 11 players performing as Motherwell had last night, take our chances and this is winnable. We never do things the easy way guys, why should that change now?

  9. If we'd scored first tonight they'd have bottled it, you can see their frailties at the back, they got lucky and got the break.

If we can get width and pace on Sunday we might just get the first goal and then we'll see how good they are. This isn't over yet.

  10. This tie isn't over. We had our lucky breaks against hibs, Motherwell had theirs against us. 2-3 would have been better but we know what we have to do, Ferguson and Walsh made a big difference and dare I say it but with good wide players Boyd ahead of Clark for me.

I'm ashamed of those on here saying it's over. And we're in the championship for another year, it's pathetic "we will fight till the day is done", no surrender, any of these ringing a bell?

We can do Motherwell at their own ground, we don't things the easy way but we can get the job done.

  11. For anyone expecting the game on Alba according to the TV guide it's not on tonight but BT sports 1 has it.

Don't know if the guide is wrong and both have it or if BT sports bought the rights off of BBC Alba.

Just a heads up for anyone expecting it on Alba.

  12. Hahaha, take it maths isn't his strong point. Why quote something as specific as 3.3 percent since 2000 is 3.3 percent of 60,606. Didn't realise ibrox had been expanded recently.

So for the sake of 300 tickets an additional 3,300 rangers fans can't get tickets......where's the logic there? There is none, used the 300 tickets as an excuse to keep our travelling support to a minimum to try and gain the advantage.

The capacity of ibrox is 51,082 and 3.3% of that is 1685, so actually by us offering 1700 we were giving them just over the 3.3 percent they asked for. I guess Motherwell can't afford a club calculator!

  13. Folk read far to much into a photo on here - it could be that 2 minutes later they are all laughing - ditto with the photo of The squad laughing during ally's time - 30 seconds later they could all be serious again. Haters hate - some on this thread, including the OP prove that time and again.

Folk read far too much into posts on here - it could be that mccoist was my idol growing up in the 90s and he as a player is a legend and always will be.

Hater? Not having that mate, McCall on his first day told the players to come in for training and the differences to the attitude on the park is clear for all to see. I suppose the photographer is also a hater? When mccoist was touted as manager in waiting I spoke several times about my concerns that he was too much of a joker and not really suitable as a manager. That goes hand in hand with the photos, the way players referred to him as coisty and not the gaffer or the manager.

Believe that the photos of smiling faces (that happened more than one training session, I just picked this at random and lo and behold they are all smiles) were just coincidentally taken at the wrong time and keep believing mccoist was an outstanding manager and would have got us promoted if you want to but don't confuse my opinion with hating.

  14. After those those two legs we've just seen against Hibs? Are you serious? The wee arsehole was a gardener two years ago and will be forgotten over the next two years.

We absolutely do not need another Nicky Clark; we need quality.

Jason Cummings, for fuck's sake. What is it with some people? First, we had Rickie Lambert, now this.

Easy enough to shoot down people's suggestions but the truth is it will be slim pickings this summer. Best out of contract players will have pre-contract agreements and any other good players are either too pricey or we don't know who they are.

Stevie May seems to be the only suggestion that is reasonable in that he's good enough and not at too good a team but even then most are suggesting a loan deal. Even then his record since leaving St Johnstone doesn't fill you with confidence. Just because he scored 20+ in the spl last time around doesn't mean he'll do it again, exhibit A kris Boyd.

Who would you suggest we sign up front?

  15. no I feel fresh,not minty fresh

people have been duped into thinking we can't afford to go for decent players, upon promotion our turnover will hit 30m plus ,at a 60pc wage bill turnover ratio that gives us around 20m to play with,

there's no point pissing about with a 8 to 10m wage bill that would strangle us against the savilles, people would lose interest and the downward spiral would continue, only a cash injection and investing in a decent playing staff will get us on top again,

a lot of folk thinkinh investing in youth is the way forward but forget we as well as the glitters are in a unique situation in world football where 2nd is massive failure, even in Spain real and barca fans stick by the team to an extent if they struggle for a year or 2,this has sine the souness era held back us and the peeds in developing our own played, only a few on both sides have made the grade,

in the Glasgow goldfish bowl the youth set ups have only served a purpose of providing the odd player and hopefully producing a few that can be sold on to help fund the finding of the next Barry Ferguson or allan McGregor who if we are being serious are the only players to have come through our system post souness to have cut the mustard, thats not really our youth development system at fault, its the inherrant win culture thats at our club, look at the players we have produced over the years who have flourished out with the Scottish set up who we would take in a minute, and went on and proved they were good players but couldnt progress due to the boo boys from the stands,I'm not blaming the boo boys for a minute but the unique culture in Glasgow football gives youth a difficult start in their career

we need a decent level of investment in the playing squad, not a frugal attempt at building a team

we have been through the ringer in the last 3/4 years and should probably have had a decent level of money behind us to invest ,but due to spiv investors and the SFA hamstringing us we have been held back from creating a different football culture,

There's a happy medium to be found. We keep our better players from this current squad, we sign a handful of players for key areas then supplement with younger and cheaper players to complete the squad.

Suggesting that we go right back to spending 20m on wages is madness. That's 400k a week roughly meaning that if we had a squad of 25 players we'd be paying on average 16k a week.

I agree that if we sign bosman signings and youngsters then we will most likely not challenge Celtic next year, hence Paul murrays statement. As a club and a well run businness we can't go back to that sort of wage structure and certainly not without European football playing a part in our turnover. This is why we need a manager capable of getting the best out of a squad with limited resources.....I say limited but we will still have the second largest wage bill in Scotland.

  16. Aye there has to be a line in the sand and I dont think there was one, the players referred to him as Coisty did they not? I'm sure I can mind an interview where a player used a nickname for him.

Team bonding and spirit is all good and we should have it but it was basically just a carry on for them, like at school when the teacher left the class and you started lobbing bits of paper about and hitting the fatty next to you with your ruler.

Walter being the teacher, mccoist being the cool kid, his arse the fatty and the ball a ruler?

  17. It helps to be happy at your work but I think Ally and co went a wee bit overboard.

I'm sure if you ask any of the current squad if they've learned anything new since McCall came in they would say a lot.

mccoist was always one of the lads and not a manager, when he left and McDowall took over everything caved in on itself. McCall has at the very least managed to motivate a squad that now appear to respect him, not muck around with him.

  18. Take a look at the expression on the faces of the players in the first link:

    http://rangers.co.uk/news/galleries/item/9384-gallery-pre-playoff-training

Then compare it to the second link from November and see the difference:

    http://rangers.co.uk/news/galleries/item/8052-training-gallery

Absolutely night and day. Regardless of your views on McCall's suitability for the long term I think if we had him and Kenny Black in at the start of the season we'd have won the league with this team.

I suppose the one positive is that its crunch time and it looks like we've got the right attitude at the right time.

Still makes my blood boil when you see McCoist laughing away with the players when we were in a sorry state.

  19. People chanting 4-0/5-0 are far too confident, just can't see it being that scoreline.

If it's goal less at half time then I can see the fans becoming annoyed and getting on the players back, which will work right into Motherwells hands.

Need to be patient and any win tomorrow will do me.

Exactly, hopefully the players have their feet on the ground and are fully focussed on another professional performance. If that turns out to be a resounding win then hats off to them, but until this tie is out of sight I'm taking nothing for granted.
