  1. Always remember the home match against dundee Utd (ain’t karma a bitch) with him and Scott Wilson at centre back and it was horrendous, lost 2-0 and konterman was at fault for both. Let Steven Thompson ahead of him for a header then did some crazy karate kid type clearance attempt, missed and they scored the second (also remember that game well for fabrice Fernandez crashing one off the bar)
  2. Always remember how excited I was about signing kanchelskis but it never really worked out that well. Also gui’varch and salenko. In the last few years definitely Alves. Mols never really meant that much to me when he signed but was out of this world. Going further back Rod Wallace.
  3. But look how it ended for McCulloch. People ended up resenting him because he just couldn’t cut it anymore and started playing in centre back (McCoists fault for still playing him). Wallace definitely regressed as a result of sticking with us and although he’s not up to it anymore (in my eyes) it’s a shame that it’s going to end on a sour note for him too. These guys didn’t volunteer as they still got paid well but at the same time they could have refused to TUPE and get a move elsewhere. Mcculloch was older and not likely to be in the Scotland squad bu Wallace could have been. Whittaker, Naismith, mcGregor and Lafferty were all in their nations national squad at the time IIRC therefore it’s perhaps easier to understand but at the same time still unforgivable. The press conference really is what sets Whittaker and Naismith apart from McGregor, Lafferty and Davis but it doesn’t mean we welcome them with open arms. He’ll need to earn our trust and respect and those are hard to earn and easy to piss away as they all did in 2012.
  4. He’s very excited to be back, once he learned we were interested it was a, wait for it, no-brainer. He made no mention of the circumstances when leaving nor was asked about it since it’s an RTV interview. The one thing he said that stuck out was that he wants to help out the club I a]no any way he can. For me that implies he wants to make amends without actually saying it. As I said he could have stayed with Hull, where he just won player of the year, and no doubt be paid more than being here or gone to Leeds and have the same sort of money but he chose to come home. He’ll have to work hard to win anyone over but that bodes well for us and I can see it being one of those difficult decisions to make that is done for the greater good.
  5. He had a good thing going for himself at Hull, he could have gone to Leeds and yet he has chosen to come back here even though he knows it won’t be universally accepted never mind endorsed. This shows he has one thing in abundance......character. We need leaders and winners on and off the park and whether you agree with what he chose back in 2012 and whether you forgive him or not he’ll add to the squad both in ability and character. He knows he’ll have to perform well to win anyone over and he obviously wants to redeem himself so let him and if he succeeds then we all win, if he doesn’t then it’s just like any other failed signing with the exception he has the history of 2012.
  6. I think there is an element of them being worried we are getting things in place and given they have seven and not nine titles in a row they know there’s a chance of their arses collapsing. However, this particular barrage is a well timed deflection tactic as many have already said. It sickens me that rather than be honest human beings (the irony) and putting their hands up and putting the offenders to shame they want to try and sweep it under the rug and then use their influence in the country to try and slur our club when we did what was right. He was sacked and police reported.
  7. If we win the league they’ll probably try to get points deducted for something
  8. We need to adopt a siege mentality to win the league again. Being all pally with some cunt that tried to do one of us rather than sticking the nut on him during the game is exactly why we are fucked when we take on the scum before the first whistle goes. The sooner the posers are out of the club the better. If you want to be a real Ranger, a winner then welcome to the club if not the thanks but no thanks, there’s the door.
  9. I’ll reiterate so why post it to the whole fucking world if it’s not anyone else’s business? The whole issue with social media is people want to broadcast every fucking thing they do so they have to accept that at times they are going to take abuse from certain things and it’s up to them to understand the right time to share and the right time to keep it to yourself. if they want to be mates with a wee prick like Allan then that’s their decision and while I don’t agree with it especially after Sunday I can’t change it but they should have enough sense to know that this season has been a disaster and the last thing we want to see is players cavorting with someone that nearly broke our players leg a day before. I didn’t say I own them by the way so stop putting words in my mouth, it just takes a bit of decency and common sense on the players’ part to keep it to themselves.
  10. Spot on. Gerrard is in that mould and I have no doubt that he’ll be looking for players with the same characteristics and wanting to move on anyone that isn’t of that nature....Bye Josh
  11. Hence why they shouldn’t broadcast it to the fans when Allan did what he did. The players are so far out of touch with the fans I feel like Dave King is more aligned than them.
  12. I think his point is the signing was initiated by Allen and the scouting team (if rumours are believed to be true the it started in January window at which point Gerrard had nothing to do with us). Gerrard said in the first press conference that it’s about working together with Allen and Scoulding on potential signings. That means sometimes it’s Scoulding’s suggestion, sometimes it’s Gerrards and others Allen. Either way they discuss it and make a decision. So Arfield was already in the pipeline and Gerrard was announced before anything was signed therefore he was asked if he was ok with it. So scouting teams identified signing given the seal of approval by Gerrard
  13. That’s exactly what I have done but people read a headline and just go with it. One day we are playing like Klopp’s sides the next we are building from the back (two contradictory statements by the way) where both came from the Q&A session minutes apart.
  14. Just a logistical perspective how does it work from a copyright and manufacturers perspective. One is Hummel one is Nike. What about the sponsors logo, material etc. So it’s a non starter for that reason.
  15. Where did I say speculation? I said sensationalistic headlines i.e. “Gerrard to make Rangers play Like Klopp’s team” or “Rangers to build from the back” Both stories came from the Q&A and it’s like saying “Arfield targets treble” just because he said in his interview with RTV he thought this was the start of something good and thought we’d be successful over the coming years.
  16. Don’t get me wrong I hope we are focussing on defence, just tired of these sensationalistic media headlines when it’s someone trying to read between the lines and speculating.
  17. So in recent days and weeks there have been a lot of articles that have been coming out surrounding us where it shows that journalists are really scraping the barrel just to try and get stories out about us to sell papers or to get clicks. This one however really shows how desperate they are as the Scotsman report on how the Rangers website have pages for John Souttar, Leigh Giriffiths and John McGinn. We had this shite before with Cummings when he was at Hibs and I’m amazed that they’ve actually run a story like this as it’s just absolute drivel.
  18. Squad for the Hong Kong soccer sevens have flown out: Aidan McAdams, Andy Dallas, Scott Gray, Jack Thomson, Jamie Barjonas, Cammy Palmer, Jordan Houston, Stephen Kelly, Kyle Bradley, Liam Burt. https://Rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/gers-jet-off-to-hong-kong/ A SELECT group from the Rangers Development Squad will fly to Hong Kong today to take part in the HKFC Soccer Sevens. The youngsters kick-off their tournament in the group stages on Saturday, taking on Newcastle Jets, Newcastle United and Hong Kong Football Club. The knockout stages take place on Sunday. The likes of Aston Villa, West Ham United and Italian side Cagliari are also taking part, along with the reigning champions Leicester City. While Premier League Brighton and Hove Albion are making their debut in the competition. The Development Squad were knocked out by eventual winners Leicester at the semi-final stage last year. But after a successful first season playing in their Games Programme, Head of Academy Craig Mulholland is excited to see what his youngsters can do. The Gers were runners up in both 2009 and 2010. Speaking to RangersTV ahead of the trip Mulholland said: “We have been the last few years now and first and foremost there is a huge Rangers fan base out in Hong Kong. “People realise the size of the club and the number of supporters who come along to the Hong Kong football club to see us is great. “The boys have had a great season and they are really looking forward to going out there. Culturally for them to go and see a different city like that is great for them but as a football experience the games are quite different as well. “It is seven v seven, 18 yards to 18 yards and if you get a draw at the end of the game they take it down to four v four, 18 yards to 18 yards. “In that heat and humidity it is really demanding for the players. It is against top opposition and it is a great experience for them. “We were down playing Leicester a few weeks ago and they are taking their Under 23 group, as well as some fringe first-team players so it is really competitive. “Last year we got to the semi-finals against Leicester and we were unlucky not to get through to the final.” It will be Rangers first trip to the tournament since the implementation of the club’s Games Programme. This season they have faced sides from across Europe and the Premier League and Mulholland thinks that should mean this squad fare better.‘ We’ll post links to all the Development Squad’s games right here on Rangers.co.uk He continued: “There are two aspects to this, one how much we have progressed against those sides we took on last year and we will look to get further and get to the final. “And two, there has been a real change this year with the Games Programme so when we played foreign opposition before and English Premier League opposition you could see there was a little bit of an inferiority complex from the Scottish lads. “I think by playing so many times this year against top teams from different countries we have overcome that. “An example would be that we are really disappointed to lose 3-2 to Manchester United and of course people are saying it is good we have got to that because losing by the odd goal to Manchester United is something we don’t expect. “I think the results against the likes of Manchester City, Feyenoord, Leicester City, AK Athens and Bayern Munich has taken away any inhibitions the boys have in terms of playing quality opposition.” Best of luck to them, hopefully it’s on YouTube again to see how they get on
  19. As I said in a later post it’s obvious to everyone we have a problem in defence and they will need to address it but building from the back is very specific. In other words you put most (if not all) of your transfer kitty into getting the right people in goal, centre back and central midfield. When Smith came back he signed 3 centre backs and a strong central midfielder. He didnt sign a wide player or a striker. I have no doubt we’ll buy defenders but is the team going to be built around that strong core or are we just bringing in players all over the park and trying to get them to gel? Its all about how you interpret building from the back, if you think differently to the above the fair enough the article is on the money but for me i’ll only believe they are building from the back if we see signings prioritised to that effect (with Arfield not being a centre back, goalkeeper or a natural central midfielder I’m suggesting it’s not happened yet).
  20. He’ll be here for the next season. Gerrard is putting emphasis on the players attitude from his interviews and Rossiter has that in spades. He’s also got technical ability and showed the other midfielders how to make a run beyond the defence and finish with ease. He wants to play, even after all these setbacks he wants to play and still has a smile on his face. He got stuck in on Sunday, he got assaulted by that wee prick Allan and still didn’t hide. The key thing is keeping him fit. It seems the general consensus is he’s hopefully over his long term injury and now just into the standard footballing injury territory. He’s got 2 years left so I’d imagine this season us make or break.
