  1. He’ll be here for the next season. Gerrard is putting emphasis on the players attitude from his interviews and Rossiter has that in spades. He’s also got technical ability and showed the other midfielders how to make a run beyond the defence and finish with ease. He wants to play, even after all these setbacks he wants to play and still has a smile on his face. He got stuck in on Sunday, he got assaulted by that wee prick Allan and still didn’t hide. The key thing is keeping him fit. It seems the general consensus is he’s hopefully over his long term injury and now just into the standard footballing injury territory. He’s got 2 years left so I’d imagine this season us make or break.
  2. This. I genuinely don’t think anyone has any solid leads on who we want therefore it’s just a case of either lazy journalism (out of favour Liverpool players, Liverpool youth, former Liverpool players, Rangers supporting players etc.) or its agents of players circulating stories trying to piggy back the Gerrard interest in getting their players names posted all over the place for some free publicity (not necessarily hoping we go for them because let’s face it Andy Carroll Jermaine Defoe etc. Would rather get a move where they continue to earn stupid money rather than come here for a small percentage of what they currently get). I’d imagine that once we have Gerrard formerly appointed we’ll start to see some more concrete links be reported.
  3. Yes there are problems with defence. We know this, they know it, the world knows it. Worst defence in the top 6 but most prolific attack. So yes the defence has been our weakness this year. However, that doesn’t mean they want to build from the back. If we buy Skrtel and thats all then you can argue we’ve strengthened our central defence but it’s not building from the back. Building from the back for me means something different. You prioritise signing central defenders, keeper first then work forward and then finally out. When Walter came back he signed weir, ehiogu, Webster and Thomson. 3 centre backs and a strong central midfielder. That to me is building from the back. We have Arfield as the first confirmed signing and whilst he has experience and versatility he’s not in the mound of Thomson (possibly Gerrard is happy with McCrorie and rossiter in the middle) If McGregor and Skrtel are signed and other centre backs arrive then i’ll believe they are building from the back but as ever the press try to make a full article out of one sentence.
  4. Well jokers are nothing new when you consider who we’ve had in the dressing room over the years. Playing pranks on your mates after training or whatever is fine. Trolling the supporters that pay for your livelihood is like a TSB boss uploading a video of accessing their internet banking hours after the complete fuck up that left customers without their access. The guy is a wank and the sooner someone puts in a concrete bid the sooner he can do this sort of shit elsewhere. Talent or no talent he’s not Rangers material.
  5. Once again the content is not matching the headline. Yeah something’s wrong and there are positives as he says but in no way does that say they are going to build from the back. This is just like the other thread about playing Klopps way. Journalists are meant to use fact not fiction. It may well be that we want to build the team from the back but that’s not what McAllister’s answer to the question was suggesting.
  6. Tbh someone should simply have posted that challenge in response and just say “Where do your loyalties lie?” Gerrard will see through these players as we have I just hope he has to funds to replace them.
  7. I just hope that Cardiff and Burnley genuinely do want him and put in a bid and we can see the back of him. He has some natural ability but he’s not befitting of a Rangers player and he can fuck off.
  8. I mean style as in football that is pleasing to watch I didn’t mean style as in approach, Gerrard wants to win so I’m guessing it’s all going to be about organisation, fitness, teamwork and determination rather than pitch geography, transitions, tippy tappy on the edge of the area.
  9. https://Rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/gers-welcome-arfield-to-ibrox/ Rangers are today delighted to confirm the signing of Scott Arfield from Burnley on a four year deal. Arfield, 29, arrives with a wealth of Premier League experience under his belt with Sean Dyche’s terrific Burnley team, while he also has top-flight Scottish experience with Falkirk, where he began his senior career. Arfield broke through at the Bairns in 2007, playing 122 times there across three seasons, with his spell there including a run to the 2009 Scottish Cup Final, where they were defeated by the Gers. His form earned him a move to England, and Huddersfield Town in League One. He was part of the side which saw the Terriers promoted to the Championship in 2012, before he switched to Burnley in 2013. He spent five successful seasons there – three of which were in the Premier League – and played a part in helping the Clarets qualify for Europe for the first time in 51 years. On the international front, he has been capped 12 times for Canada and has scored once. Arfield is the first signing of the Steven Gerrard era at the club, and the new manager said: “I am delighted to have added Scott Arfield to the squad for next season. He is a talented and competitive midfielder who has competed at a high level in the English Premiership and internationally for Canada. “It’s pleasing also that we have been able to start our rebuilding process so quickly after the end of the season. There is much more to be done of course as we look to build towards our Europa League campaign which will start in early July. “Scott is the first one in and I look forward to working with him and the others who will be coming in to strengthen the squad.”
  10. Hopefully this is the standard of signing we are aiming for this summer.
  11. It doesn’t, that was my point earlier. Every fan loves to watch a team play the way Klopp sets his team up but he also said previously he wants to win at Rangers no matter how we get the win. Points first and worry about style when we start winning titles again.
  12. Sorry maybe I’m just being old fashioned but where is the direct quote saying he wants to play like Klopp? Every fan in the world loves watching that supposedly = “I’m going to make Rangers play this way”? The only thing he wants to emulate are his honesty and truth based on the quotes above. I detest these clickbait headlines where the report suggests nothing at all of the content. One for example said windass was leaving because he thanked Kenny miller.....failing to realise its miller that’s leaving therefore nothing in it whatsoever (i know windass is likely to leave but the message didn’t mean that)

    Tav

Tav (and John) suit a 5-3-2 wingback formation but that means no candeias or Murphy and under murty that was never going to happen. Im hoping that Gerrard has more than one tactic that he has in mind,as it would ge nice to have options and lose the predictability.
  14. So they got a penalty and we were reduced to 10 (holts first was never a yellow) We should have had a penalty and them reduced to 9 (Allan and Whittaker for the first yellow that should have cone taking Halliday out while breaking away then the handball). We either have the most incompetent refs in world football or the most corrupt.
  15. I felt when things started going well after the Florida trip that we were in a better shape than last year but when the chips are down thismlot (apart from today) are cowering in their shells. Its not ability that’s the issue with most of the team but rather the mentality (defenders I believe is ability though as they are garbage). Put it this way if Gerrard is given the funds to get rid of 95% of the squad I’d be fine with that.
  16. Can’t agree with that. Thats a leg breaker/career ending tackle right there, DIRECTLY INFRONT of the ref. How many months have we had jack and Dorrans out for following challenges that went for a yellow? Its one thing if decisions are costing goals, games, points etc. but it’s another thing when re players at risk of severe injuries and the perpetrators get away with a yellow. It doesn’t exactly deter those making those challenges from doing the same again. We then wonder why we can’t get talented players to come to play in Scotland and that’s exactly why.
  17. With youth players it’s about bringing them in to a settled and professional first team squad. We don’t have that at the moment so it’s not the right time.
  18. Spot on and both have been underwhelming to say the least. Add Alves and Martin to that list as well. Players with vast experience at higher levels than the Scottish Premiership and should hit the ground running and been a revelation but its not worked out as we had planned. Go back another season...Kranjcar, Barton, Senderos. We have a bad habit of brining in players who should do well but for whatever reason they never do well.
  19. For 1.8m I’d be expecting far more in return. Its all conjecture at the moment and that’s the trouble when you don’t have the money to take gambles you need to be certain players are going to perform. Loan deals are good in that you get a chance to evaluate players in person and see if they are what you want or not. So Russell Martin was a loan (thank fuck) and we can see he’s not good enough. Cummings is another who like Murphy people say they have people if we do this and that so again it’s conjecture. If we sell windass and don’t sign Murphy then we need to get a left winger in and depending on where we look we may well be paying close to 1.8m (Middleton is getting rave reviews for the development side but I don’t think we are in a position to say he’s a first team player yet). I don’t keep up with up and coming players for other clubs as much as I should so I’ve no idea if we can get better for the same price.
  20. Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not The players we have and our tactics need to be a good match. We’ve seen the problem of shoehorning players into positions they aren’t suited to. It doesn’t work. If we can afford variety in each position e.g. defensive minded fullback and an attacking wingback type, then that allows us to have one formation where we want overlapping on the flanks and one where we don’t. Murphy suits the overlap but not so much the defensive fullback approach. We’ve had players in the past that get the ball and simply start running at the defence and take them on regardless of supporting players, for example Weiss, and they are best suited to having a defensive minded fullback in support to pick up the pieces if they lose the ball. Im tired of us having one formation and one approach as the predictability is used against us and we have no way to specifically counter threats or exploit weaknesses. Put it this way if Murphy could be signed for 500k then fine but 1m+ I have my doubts.
  21. I’ve said it previously that our squad’s performances are dependent on confidence. When confidence is low the players aren’t up to it and no one seems able to pull themselves up and grind out a solid performance. Murphy has struggled since John has been out as John overlaps and draws the opponents down the wing allowing Murphy to cut inside as he’s an inside forward not a winger. I do believe with better players in the first team he’ll be better but the question is will he be good enough?
