Did we test the market? Did we draft up both person and job specifications? Did we hold discreet conversations with headhunters specialising in football industry? Was our questioning more thorough than “right James, are you game?” This smacks of a bowling club mentality where auld Tam (85) dies and young Tam (84) gets appointed as his replacement. If Bisgrove supported the Ange Tribute Roadshow, then that monumental lack of judgement or understanding is reason enough on its own to exclude him from consideration.
