  1. Stewart will win us points against teams with 11 men behind the ball - doubt he'll be a regular starter but he'll be useful in the squad for a lot of games. Jones will be back up, Hastie will be loaned.
  2. How did this get to 7 pages in a under day. Next BJK thread imo
  3. This guy must be good if he needs 2 threads
  4. Hows that work when we play each other game 4? Wouldn't like to think that anyway - hope they get pumped a couple of times before playing us and are in complete disarray.
  5. That's my point mate - 240% return in 10 months if you back us for 55 this season.
  6. We're 12/5 to win the league - surely that's value.
  7. To be honest we have to do that anyway and we need to be winning our away games. So if 3 of first 4 are away that's fine - win them all and get the pressure on.
  8. I'd like to see Kent play narrower, he may get more goals that way too. Also think Murphy is a bit wasted out wide, probably more so coming back from injury. We should go 4-2-3-1 with a narrow 3 behind the striker: MacGregor Tavernier Goldson Katic Barasic Kamara Davis Arfield Aribo Kent Morelos This makes the assumption we get Kent and Aribo, which apparently looks likely now. If we miss one, or for certain types of game, we could go 4-1-3-2, push Kamara further forward and have Defoe on up front. Second 11 (couple of assumptions here too) McCrorie Polster Edmundson Bauer Flanagan Jack McCrorie Ojo Docherty Jones Defoe Then you still have the likes of Halliday, Murphy, Rossiter, Dorrans to fill the gaps. That's 2 teams capable of beating anyone in the league - 55 it is, just need to get those CBs over the line and add another decent striker for cover up top.
  9. Didn't get better mate - the next bit said "O'Grady"
  10. Merge this with the real thread. I posted the full explanation there after the 247th time someone asked.
  11. Anyone got their contact details?
  12. 19th June is the draw for the first 2 rounds.
  13. Let's be realistic, they're not getting papped out by a fiddly team first couple of rounds. Best thing is if they get good long trips every second Thursday, win home and away first couple of rounds (association coefficient points) then get papped out by someone like Dinamo Zagreb in the playoffs. Best case scenario they win 7 lose 1 and go out, that way they gain 1.75 points for the national coefficient in the qualifiers, but don't get the CL cash.
  14. Correct. If Man City win the cup the Man Utd are in the group stage and Wolves in 2nd qualifier, if Watford win the cup then Watford in group stage and Man Utd in 2nd qualifier.
  15. Scotland is down to 26th in the ranking of European leagues, so all 3 teams go into first round. For the coming season we're back up to 20th, so for next season's Europa League we get 1 team into the 2nd round (cup winners, but if they already qualify for CL then that goes to 2nd in the league). If we get to 17th then we get a team in 3rd round, a team in 2nd round and a team in 1st round, and the champions go to 2nd round of CL instead of 1st round. We'd need to climb to 15th to get 2 teams in the CL again (and 5 teams total in Europe) - needs a few more seasons of multiple Scottish teams winning a few games in Europe for that to happen, much simpler to just win 55 and get CL ourselves and deprive the taigs of it.
  16. Still a couple of weeks before all the qualifiers are decided, but time to start thinking of our route to the group stages again. I fancy us t9 make it again, barring a really unfavourable draw (likes of Man United would be ones to avoid). We're guaranteed to be seeded 1st round, remains to be seen if we'll be seeded for 2nd, depends on what other teams qualify - We will either be one of the very top ranked unseeded teams, or very bottom ranked seeded teams. Each round's draw is made before the previous round is complete, so playing a seeded team means we gain their seeding for the following round only (e.g. if we're unseeded in round 2 and play a team that is seeded for round 3, we gain their seeding in round 3 provided we beat the., but that doesn't carry to play off round it only carries 1 round). Round 1 we should beat anyone, main thing is to avoid a tiring long trip like to Georgia or Armenia. Ideal scenario would be to have an easy first 2 rounds, then round 3 get a team that's seeded for the playoff, so we have 1 tough round then get an unseeded team again.
  17. Defenders: I haven't seen us linked with Halkett - given he's free we should be signing him. Beyond that we need at least one and possibly 2 further CBs, a LB and, if Tav leaves, a replacement RB. Midfield: 2 attacking midfielders of high quality, we have enough in CDM mould. Attackers: One additional striker needed, two if Morelos is sold. What are your thoughts and suggestions?
  18. Exactly this, plus Kent. That means 6 players needed assuming Alfie goes. I hope we take Craig Halkett, solid defender and no cost. Beyond that, if we can get Kent for under 4m, we should hopefully have 4-5m plus a decent percentage (50%?) of the Alfredo fee to get in the other 5 players. Should be possible to get the right quality with that.
  19. If we win tonight, a win or draw at Rapid puts us top of the group, lose at Rapid we only go through if Villareal and Spartak draw. If we lose or draw tonight we need to beat Rapid to go through.
  20. Not quite, if Rapid beat us 2-0 or by 3 goals or more we could still go out if Villareal and Spartak don't draw
