New to this iPhone business, anyone got any tips on what apps and games I should get?

NavFree ... best satnav app about & it's free.

NewStarSoccer ... be prepared to lose your life to that game though.

BBC iPlayer ... especially with the latest version where you can download shows to your phone for future viewing.

Sky Go .. if you have sky, get this, you can watch anything your sky is currently showing (beware ... if no wifi signal this will eat into your data plan)

Find My iPhone ... if you lose your phone, and this is on it, you can log into your apply account on another iphone/ipad etc and find it from that.

Find Friends .. similar, only you can track you mates/kids or whatever, if you have to find them

TuneIn Radio .... listen to hundreds of station, online (beware ... if no wifi signal this will eat into your data plan)

Facebook/Twitter ... if you're into that kind of thing

Thats enough to get you started but if you go onto the App store on your phone, goto featured. click on "Whats Hot" .. at the top you can select the box for "App Store Essentials", thats a great way to find apps that are good and what they think are important.

As above but I'd add in whatsapp, that's a decent, messaging service. Also ESPN goals is quite good for a quick roundup of the EPL's events.

If you have an unlimited data plan then get skyfire browser, it's 1.99 but you can watch the live streams of games on sites like firstrow on a 3g connection if there're enough links to click through.
