World Cup Play-Off Draw

Just takes one game and an individual moment of brilliance to make a tournament and a legend though, after all Geoff Hurst never did much else than score a hat-trick in one game at a world cup final.

The real Ronaldo lit up 2 world cups though the one in 98 when he had his breakdown and 2002 when they won it. Real Ronaldo > cross dressing Portuguese shity copy one :sherlock:

Ronaldo (Brazil) was great too.

But he'll always be remembered for not turning up in the game in 98. Ronaldo, Messi, Zlatan etc etc, even Rooney and Suarez, still have opportunities to make themselves genuine greats in big tournaments as well, time will tell, but they need to be there.

The only way Iceland are capable of upsetting Croatia is by stealing their fish.

They could also try playing some of the more obscure Bjork records before the kick off.

Got a soft spot for Croatia, as I was in Croatia the day they became independent and also because of Dado Prso.

He'll also be remembered for the best ever goal scoring display at a World Cup in 2002, the great man more or less won it for brazil :sherlock:

Apparently Ronaldo was incredibly unwell on the day of the 98 world cup final.

Remember he wasn't on the teamsheet but at the very last minute ended up in the squad?

He was having problems in the hotel room before the game and the team doctors were called in. God knows what went on, don't think anything near the truth ever came out. Nerves was suggested, but who knows.

Heard this one a few times but not sure if its accurate. I doubt it true, it sounds quite outrageous....

I would hardly call suffering a major medical seizure 'not turning up'

He carried brazil in nearly every game and his absence showed how overhyped the squad was pre WC 98

Had forgotten that, possible, as the big executives and TV chiefs would mainly be interested in advertising revenue from viewers wanting partly to see Ronaldo.

Official story from Ronaldo was he blanked out for a minute due to a seizure, did not indicate what the cause was. Pre match booster perhaps to overcome injury or nerves ? Who knows ?

Either way he should have been in a hospital, not a football pitch. Who ever made the decision to play him in the end was risking their reputation and ronaldos health
