Iakona 2,313
Aside from fixture congestion, friendlies cost alot of money... there's no way we could afford 6 of them against top tier clubs. We'd probably struggle with one..Playing away isnt really an option either since most clubs won't be interested in having us. I doubt fans of european teams would be queuing up to see our midtable SPL team get pumped. These clubs look at friendlies purely from financial point of view, if there's no money to be made you can forget it.Even a wee pre season tournament with Chelsea, Linfield and Hamburg isn't feasible. Without heavy financial backing from 3rd parties we could never afford it. Can't see Chelsea being keen to take a hit either when they could be abroad playing in some glamour tournament with other Euro heavyweights. At best we'll get one game against a midtable EPL team or maybe a game against Hamburg. johanhentze 14,721
as I said no. As it is clear that the vast majority of this squad are not even close enough to play for us in champions league. Surely you can see that without having them play against a top teamThe football in lower leagues is very different from upper leagues - I think we would be a different team in the Premier (scottish branch) to be honest. tannerall 25,935
Don't see enough attraction for them to want to play us.50,000 crowd, one of the biggest and best stadiums in Europe, appearance money guaranteed from receipts ? That's been enough incentive even for Chelsea.
