El-Hadji Spit RFC 733
On 22 June, Hearts rejected a bid of £300,000 from Rangers, deeming it as derisory.[5] A week later Rangers made an improved offer of £1m, which was also rejected.[6] Hearts then placed a £3m price tag on Wallace.[7] Premier Leagueside Wolverhampton Wanderers had also expressed an interest in Wallace, but did not make any offers.[8][9] On 21 July 2011, a bid of £1.5m from Rangers was accepted by Hearts. Wallace signed a five-year deal with the club, becoming Ally McCoist's second signing of the summer.[10] Was just thinking how our squad is made up of free signings, loanees and couple hundred k signings. Then looked up what we paid for Lee, being our most expensive player! I wonder when we'll next see a signing of this value/level. No doubting he's worth £1.5m but with the financial restraints we've done some great business on reflection. Similar low initial bid back then too!? I reckon we've got every penny's worth out of that deal, even with his drop-off last season. Once we are back in the top league, I expect we'll probably see one or two signings a season at that price level.
