steven33jackie 1,946
Spot on tonight when he stated Rangers game plan is back to front. Establish a foot in the game first by being physical and more direct then once established then use your passing football. For me we should be starting games the way we have finished the last three by being more direct and putting the ball into the box. By doing just that Garner had one cleared of the line and a great turn but poor finish. At the moment we constantly get to the 18 yard box to then turn away and re-circulate the ball to the half way line. Totally gutted by the result tonight, but more by the fact that Warburton is just not learning how to win games and that his stubbornness' to not change the formation and ethos will ultimately see him fail. Surely his priority first and foremost is to be successful and then gradually strengthen the team and then once bedded in and experienced in the SPL start to enforce his 4.3.3 passing game. Ultimately his time at Rangers will end, probably sacked and he will find himself back in league 1, still trying to play like Barcelona with vastly inferior players, which would be a shame as I think he truly has something to bring to the Scottish game but he has to realise that there is a time and a place for the passing game. Even Advocatt accepted that and he had far more resources than Warburton.

This was illustrated in the first half when we messed about at left back resulting in a throw in to Hearts because we were over playing. That in itself caused no danger but it acts as a catalyst, gets their crowd going and instills confidence in the opposition whilst doing the complete opposite for us. This is happening every week. Ironically, towards the end of the game we went route 1 at times, defenders cleared their lines and didn't look to play out from the back. As KT said, wouldn't it be better to do this from the off and start to play keep-ball when we're in the lead with the game stretched and more space available? ianferguson 2,619
Win the battle first Earn the right to play Clear your lines Don't gift a goal early Win battle with your direct opponent All clichés because they are tried and trusted. Mark is trying to reinvent the wheel but sadly for him it's fallen off. If Tavernier had won his battle we'd have faired far better but sadly yet again he forgot the first duty of a defender which is to fucking defend.
