ExiledWeegie123 1,412
everybody has their own personal preference with an antivirus i personally dont and never will use one,in 2 and a half years i havent had a virus, plenty of spyware and adware but no virus's,only times ive had a virus is one time i downloaded a dodgy keygen from a dodgy site,my own stupidity and the only other time was the sasser worm which to my mind infected nearly every pc running windows wether you had av installed or not. as long as you keep on top of the spyware/adware and update windows regularly and watch what sites your going on then your fine, its our own stupidity that causes us to get virus's,just try harder not to

ExiledWeegie123 1,412
by not using dodgy sites m8 some folk think if you connect to the internet without antivirus then your going to be attacked left right and centre but thats not the case, all you need to do is use a firewall and scan it regulary for spyware/adware as they are the most common threats, virus's dont just float about in net space, you gotta do something to enable it to attack your pc like click on a dodgy link/open a dodgy rar file/or even open an attachment in an email. i use: windows firewall windows update spybot search and destroy adaware 2008 ccleaner i scan my pc once per week and always get a "congratulations no new threats found" always remember and update these programs everytime you use them tho,new threats are released everyday so you need to keep on top of it

Kelta 0
i use: nod32 SUPERAntiSpyware and combofix - these saved my comp from a format. I also used spybot search and destroy incase SUPERAntiSpyware missed anything. check out http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 for tips plus for performance checkout diskeeper (it defragments your hard drive as a background process - very good)
1690 Posts 71
Just because your anti malware/virus programs say 'congratulations' doesn't mean your PC is clean. No anti virus/malware scanner can catch everything. Go to Virus total, a site where you can upload individual files to be scanned by 30 leading anti viruses with the latest definitions and even after this overkill scan they say this doesn't guarantee the file isn't infected and you shouldn't assume it isn't. Like someone said, the best defense is not clicking on dodgy links, or unsolicited attachments in emails. ---------------- Now playing: Pink Floyd - Sheep
