the goal machine 7,803
England manager Fabio Capello has left Michael Owen out of his 23-man squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Belarus. Capello felt the 28-year-old was not sufficiently match fit for the wins over Andorra and Croatia in September. But Owen has completed 90 minutes in each of Newcastle's six games since then, scoring three goals. Steven Gerrard returns to the squad after injury, while Peter Crouch and Shaun Wright-Phillips earn recalls. More soon. England squad: James (Portsmouth), Green (West Ham), Carson (West Brom); Brown (Manchester United), Johnson (Portsmouth), Terry (Chelsea), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Lescott (Everton), Upson (West Ham), A Cole (Chelsea), Bridge (Chelsea); Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy), Walcott (Arsenal), Barry (Aston Villa), Jenas (Tottenham), Lampard (Chelsea), Gerrard (Liverpool), Downing (Middlesbrough), Wright-Phillips (Manchester City); Heskey (Wigan), Crouch (Portsmouth), Rooney (Manchester United), Defoe (Portsmouth). http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/i...als/7652423.stm If Owen is fit, he should be in the squad IMO. TMWWBK 0
Jenas? Hrmm.. not for me, Fabio. I'd go with Crouch and Rooney up front. Both have hit form over the past week or so.
J_RFC87 761
Bentley has been mince since he's been at Blackburn. I think the remainder of Owen's career will be like this, pity because he is (was?) a class player.

Muff 245
I know they are away with the U-21's but it's time for Agbonlahor and Ashley Young to be called up! Good to see Crouchy back in there.

J-Maestro 11,105
Who would have thought Heskey would outlast Owen in the England squad haha.
brissyger 8
Think Owens international career is on the ropes. I think Capello knows what he is doing, they got a particularly impressive victory against Croatia.
Guest therabbitt
Jermaine Jenas - horrific player in my opinion
Danny 9
I think Owen's great but I agree with not changing for the sake of it when you have success. Walcott is sensational these days.
J_RFC87 761
I don't rate Jenas either, he's been mince this season as well - how did he get in?
shnollyRFC 0
He's still scoring goals. Should at least be in the squad IMO.
papaguy51 912
I don't rate Jenas either, he's been mince this season as well - how did he get in? If Jenas has been mince this season, it's an improvement on last season. Every England manager seems to go for him, it's fucking beyond me (and the yids) why!
