  1. Wish he would have the worst game of his life but Souttar has been impressive today unfortunately.
  2. Wright is making a difference. For all the stick he's received about being not good enough, he's always direct and positive, trying to make things happen.
  3. Terrible miss but Diallo has been one of the few with pass marks so far.
  4. Some of the stories are beyond belief. Utterly horrendous. Totally unacceptable.
  5. derekclarksport - It looks like if you click on 'Contact' his website will let you fill in a form/e-mail Or, from his website this seems to be his e-mail: contact@derekclarksport.co.uk
  6. That wasn't in any way intended as a dig. Just simply it could have been anyone who missed. Penalties are absolutely shite. In a weird way it would probably have felt even worse if it was a Tav, Lundstram, Bassey, someone who had played a huge role in the campaign, who had missed. Thought Davis' penalty was a cracker. Only after the replay though! Bit close for comfort first time round.
  7. It looked from the footage that Lundstram seemed keen to take one but it's impossible to be certain. Kent's a fair point though. He was never taking one of the first 5 penalties IMO. Neither was Goldson and to be honest I don't think I would have wanted either to anyway. So in that sense we could have kept Sakala on who has taken penalties for his country. Lowry also another shout as mentioned by another poster. That said you could be the best penalty taker in that world, be in peak condition and still easily miss a penalty in a game of that magnitude.
  8. I think that is possibly another reason why we may have signed him. How really 'injured' was he? His list of injuries on paper doesn't look great and it's maybe not quite Bale levels but Bale seemed to be 'injured' when it suited him. It's probably a 2 way street, the clubs maybe haven't been great to them and seem to want them out, so any minor, slight knock and they are 'injured' but in reality are they really. Fuck knows. Either way it's not been great.
  9. What's the date for Q3, do you know? And also, when's the draw? Aye, absolutely massive. In 2 leg ties, I would fancy us against any one of them. Ironically over 2 legs, I reckon we knock out Frankfurt :(. It obviously won't be easy but we have a real shot.
  10. I guess that must have been the thought process. We would have spoken to Ramsey, assessed him, put in a place a bespoke plan for him and if we managed to get Ramsey fully fit and performing he could have been an incredible signing. It's obviously not worked out that way. His injury record/fitness levels were clearly the major issue and ultimately it's backfired. Despite having those issues or concerns previously, he was still able to perform for Wales last year, and with the playoffs coming up soon, there was probably the hope he would be looking to get fit, play regularly and well, benefiting us, himself and Wales. Not that it matters too much but I actually think Ramsey is quite taken by us, he speaks very well and seems a pretty genuine and decent guy. Unfortunately for everyone though it's not played out as we'd hoped.
  11. Yeah, I don't think it was that bad. We're all just devastated which I totally get. I know it's not a Davis thread, and I have no idea what his future holds. He has been written off so many times but his game intelligence, especially in such a massive game was really good. The reverse into Kamara I think when most would have crossed it was great. Ironically maybe only Ramsey (or Hagi) would have seen that type of pass.
  12. If Ramsey was fully fit, playing regularly and playing to a level he has shown in the past we would not have had a chance of signing him. He only became an option due to his situation at Juventus. We've took a calculated risk thinking if we get him up to speed, his quality would enhance the squad. Most of us were pleased at the time. It was always a risk and sadly it's just not worked out. When he's actually played though he has shown moments of quality and generally been okay although we were all hoping and expecting so much more. In relation to the game, Kamara starts mainly due to his excellent performance in the Leipzig game. Wright has also been bright recently and I thought he played pretty well last night. Ramsey obviously had to come off in the semi final at Hampden so I just don't think Gio was ever going to take a risk on him unless we were desperate or unless there wasn't long to go. Ultimately that's what seemed to happen. I think Gio and most of us would trust Ramsey to score a penalty but we would be less confident his body holds up and that's possibly where Gio was at. On the subs, it's all about opinions. However, I don't actually think the subs were that bad. I would question a few but nothing major. I thought Davis was good when he came on. Someone with an actual brain who doesn't just punt the ball every time or panic under pressure. Sakala was a reasonable sub to make. Incredibly frustrating player, tears your hair out. Doesn't always make the correct runs, decisions or hold the ball up but his pace and directness is always a threat. He also carries a goal threat. I'd maybe have rolled the dice with Ramsey, Diallo or Lowry but Gio went with Arfield who was fine when he came on, and no doubt the semi final goal at Hampden would have been in Gio's mind too. Sands has come on to allow Lundstram to push forward and the change in shape worked. We looked fitter, stronger and the most likely to win it in extra time. Roofe and Ramsey then came on mainly with penalties in mind. In those few minutes they caused problems which naturally makes us think of all the ifs buts and maybes. The result and outcome is just utterly shite. 'Working' from home today and done absolutely fuck all. Cannot be arsed.
  13. Don't think either team performed to their full capabilities but that happens in a lot of finals. Lots of poor passing, decision making etc. Nerves, pressure, expectation and the heat probably all played a part in that. Frankfurt were still strong though and always carried a threat going forward. Kostic is a player. Lindstrom and Borre too. We got better as the game went on and looked the fittest and strongest in extra time. It's all about fine lines. Tiny margins. Could Wright stop the cross? Could Goldson have stuck a leg out? Could Bassey have done more? Kent's almost done everything right. Davis' shot then takes two fucking deflections taking it away from the top corner. Was the ball actually out before Roofe crossed it (I hope it was now!)? Could haunt us forever. Gutting. Heartbreaking. Feel so flat, deflated, numb. Probably lost a few years of my life. Incredibly difficult watch, most of which was with my hands covering my face. You never really want to single anyone out but special mention has to go to Bassey. What a performance from the young man. Couldn't be prouder though. What a monumental effort from all involved. What a run. Can hold our heads high.
