Should Ally have played the Forfar team vs Dundee instead of the new signings?

The Forfar was a cup game and very important and so playing that team would have had it got used to each other as a blend, no?

Or is does the Forfar loss just have no excuse, and we should have won anyway? I think I agree with the opening title and this sentence!

But surely 60 minutes would have been a good idea vs Dundee in view of Forfar to go with Forfar's team starting at Dens?

Aye the line up should have been a warm up to the Forfar game ideally , with a few new players brought on to rest certain players for the game on the Saturday .

Its awright saying that in hindsight after the games , we should have been able to put out the team from last season given the proper tactics and won the game easily imo .

If he had only played those who were available for the Forfar game, everyone would have started whining about not getting their money's worth and demanding to see all the new boys even though it would have made sense to give the actual team practice.

Then they would have started calling for Ally to be sacked - he just can't win.

Ally knew from the summer that August was going to be difficult due to the non registration rules. He said as much though didn't comment on the fact that it was his responsibility to overcome this.

He's had the pre-season he desperately wanted, and got plenty players in that he wanted. But he's also known all along Saturday's game would be played with last season's squad.

So difficult as it is, his job was to get a team from last season prepped to win on Saturday without the assistance of the new boys at the same time as moulding a team for post September 1st. On the first part, he's failed miserably. And we're out of a cup because of it.

If he's around come September he sure as hell better make sure his chosen and prepared team hit the ground running and in style or he'll have failed miserably in using a pre-season other than for fitness.

Managing Rangers cannot and should not come easy, but such significant failures cannot be accepted when despite the obstacles we have so much more in our locker than the likes of Forfar.
