Allanger 625
If it led to success when the season kicks off. I hate it when we get beat by anyone but if Walter decided that he was going to try out new tactics/ positions/ formations etc and concentrated on getting things right in certain areas of the park, totally ignoring the result would you be happy? I was talking to a German fan about this last week and he reckons that he doesn't really care if they win friendlies or not as that is the time to get things organised/fixed. I disagreed saying that a team should always go out to win and as a supporter you should always want your team to win every game. The more I have thought about it perhaps I am wrong. Whats your opinion?

*Manticore* 1,893
It's nice to win them but they don't matter.
rfc_no1fan 13
No, we have a similar squad to last season so there shouldnt be any need for time to gel. If we had signed impact players, who needed time to gel....... then yes

KingOfTheWing 0
Obviously. I still don't see the point in playing teams/formations that don't have a chance of being kept even if they do well.
Guest therabbitt
Better to test formations players now surely?

mark_ni 12
friendlies mean nothing, celtic were getting humped every friendly game a couple of years ago and still won the league.

Coopermania 1
I want us to win every game, but friendlies are the best opportunity to try out new players and formations. If we get beat in a friendly, so be it if it helps in the long run.
