Boab 73
I hold my hands up, I'm not yet a big lover of McCulloch yet, as in a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 if he is on the sides then he I don't think he is very dangerous but I do like him further forward on the sides in a forward 3 like against ICT. But, near the half line, he's not a good passer on the whole and is not always comfortable on the ball or chooses the right pass. But onto tonight, he won countless headers throughout the match from long kick-outs and other long passes...but we never won the 2nd ball. If we can't win the 2nd ball, then take him off. He's of no use. In the sysytem we are using tonight, a 4-5-1. And, while he set up the goal! I know he did, what about the period before?
Davy 68
I think he deserved both praise for tonights performance and a paracetamol! Every time we got the ball we just punted it at him, and fair play to the big man, he won the majority of the headers. Shame there was no-one to header it to.... MaD CoW 3
Why does Smith play him on the right I thought he was left footed and when he plays on the left he sets up goals!

I'm not content with him on the right. It's a kamikaze solution tbh.

I'm sorry but I disagree with you entirely here Who would you replace him with? Novo, Gow, JCD? Four assits and a goal from five competitive games speaks for itself, especially if you consider the criticism he got when we signed him IMO McCulloch is, and should be, one of the first names on our team sheet. He wins headers, he tracks back, he is versatile and he is a leader who inspires others through his own performance!

I also noticed that when we are defending a corner he is shouting at everyone, telling them who to mark, etc.
Muff 245
Play him on the left instead of Beasley and try Whittaker on the right. McCulloch has impressed me a lot. He is going to rack up a hell of a lot of assists this season, a real work horse and a fighter.

beattieo7 0
I don't even know what this guys natural position is, he just floats around everywhere being distinctly average. He needs to be given a set position, and carry out the task that's required.
Bazza 21
Yeah, he had a very good game, and although maybe not the most tricky and pacey player, offers us power and strength where we lacked it badly last year.

I'm not trying to say that we should drop him, however, we are not working enough as a team to make him look good by winning that 2nd ball - that annoyed me while at the game. I sincerely would like to see him through the centre and I even defended him tonight to the guy infront of me by saying he had assists and had scored but he said he wanted more from a 2million signing, like taking a man on even though I see he has more to his game than being Brain Laudrup on the wing.
