  1. How old is Webster? What about the Dannish boy? It's an abject load of drivel to say we're becoming an OAP home. Christ, Hartley an OAP? He's 30! Anyone who is smearing our manager needs a reality check. i might be wrong but did david murray not say the days of signing age 30 and over are finished, as there would be know sell on value i am sure he did. I think to be fair, that would depend both on the quality of the player and the cost of the player. If we got offered Gattuso (how I wish) in a couple of years time for ?4 million I would like to think Murray would have the butter knife firmly jammed in the piggy bank. I think I may have just sent this to a moderator (oops, long day at work) (willy)
  2. Actually, there are quite a lot of us who think that. Not many managers would have coped with a Director that would sell the teams best players without consulting them first. Considering what he took over and the situation at the club with regards to the finances, and the Directors, he did well just saving us from relegation.
  3. Celtic have a fair amount of youth in their side but over the last couple of years have had a few experienced older pros playing in the first team with them. Keane, Pressley, Dublin, Sutton, Hartson, Thompson, etc. None of them spring chickens but their presence alone has surely helped the younger players around them. Personally, I don't think we need to bring in any more youngsters at the moment as our first team is already brimming with them. Murray, Smith, Hutton, Svensson McGregor, Adam, Burke, Boyd, Sebo, Webster. I think it verges on downright stupidity to have a go at the manager for signing a couple of experienced guys to enhance the squad. Were the same guys attacking Eck when we brought in Frank de Boer? Totally and utterly agree on that.
  4. Didn't walter try to swap Oleg Salenko for Cole. Deal fell through when Keegan couldn't find a big enough bucket to put it in. I'll get me coat pipehorse
  5. He's bringing in players with experience of playing within the British game, something we have been sadly lacking. We have 3 young defenders, 2 Young midfielders and 2 young strikers who up till now had absolutely nobody with any experience around them other than Ferguson and Prso. Bringing in some older experienced players can only help the likes of Adam, Hutton, Smith, Svennson, Burke, Boyd and Gasp.....Sebo. These guys are pretty much established first team players now and need all the help they can get both on and off the field. We need to establish a balance between youth and experience and for that unfortunately we need to buy in the experienced part as we didn't have any other than the 2 mentioned. Celtic have a fair amount of youth in their side but over the last couple of years have had a few experienced older pros playing in the first team with them. 6. My team for next season based on rumours, non stories and what we actually have is Reality taking 2 players to cover each position _____________________________McGregor/<another> Hutton/<another>_____Ehiogu/Svensson______Webster/<another>_________Murray/Smith Burke/Novo________Ferguson/<another>______<Hartley><another>________Adam/<another> _______________ ___Boyd/<Gow>____________Prso/<McCulloch> So from that we need a minimum of 2 strikers, 1 left winger, 3 midfielders, 2 Defenders and backup for McGregor who isn't on a kings ransom. Easy eh? Feel free to fill in the blanks
  7. That is a very good point. You could be onto something there. It's spot on. Hearts reverted to defensive tactics when they realised we weren't as fragile at the back as we usually are. That left us with the problem of breaking them down which is where we now are struggling. Without seeming like I'm repeating myself, we are badly missing Prso and badly need cover for him.
  8. They've both been moonlighting on Dr Who!
  9. I think Sionki would benefit from someone up front to create space behind, much as Koeller does for the Czech national side. The problem Sionko, Burke and Adam have is that often the ball is pinged out to them from defence while they have the entire opposition defence surrounding them. To be fair to Sionko and Burke, neither have played much this season due to injury or bizarre selections from le guen. Would be interested to see how both players will react to playing in a straight 4-4-2 once Prso returns. With regards to Smith and Murray, I think both players offer a lot to the position and it is not an area we should be concerned about.
  10. Why does he hate you, and what traditions does he despise? I'm asking out of morbid curiosity.
  11. Hartley is not a direct replacement for Hemdani. I think the point is that we don't need a sitting midfielder for the SPL. For Europe perhaps, and Hartley is more than capable of filling that role if necessary. The problem with Hemdani is when we don't need a holding player. He doesn't do the whole going forward thing very well.
  12. In the summer we can expect Smith to start expunging a number of players and getting in replacements, but who should we retain and who should we punt at the earliest opportunity? For Me Punt the following, Sebo (get McDonald or someone else that will run around a lot but can actually hit the target) Hemdani (good player but not suited to the SPL), Hutton (The new Morris Ross), Papac (Don't even know why we bought him, I suspect PLG had shares in Austria Vienna), Leitzi (No comment), Klos (Could pay 4 new players with the salary he's currently on) Rae (I like him, but not the standard of player we need) Buffel (a quality player when he can be bothered which isn't very often.) I would keep (subject to change) Sionko - you don't get a place in the Czech national team if you are mince Svennson - was Captain of Gothenberg and a pick for the Swedish national side, ditto to above. everyone else. Reckon both players will improve with better players around them. Buy in the best part of a new team. What we need, central midfielder x 2 Target Man Striker x 2 Left Winger Right Back At the moment Prso seems to fill four of those roles by himself. Novo seems to cover right back when Hutton is out of position which is for most of the game.
  13. We all know the guy's a Celtic fan, it isn't news tbh. End of the day, he wants to play for us, possibly because he wants to partner Barry, and his desire to join us and his ability pretty much dismisses the fact he's a raging tim. In the immortal words of so many people, past, present and future: I know but there will always be fans that dont want him due to the club he supports, stupid as the main thing is his commitment and footballing ability. I know he never called us orange b*stards, but who cares if he did? Ferguson and Malcolm have said and done things in the past! Unfortunately in Malcolm's case, none of them involved playing football
  14. We need goals but replacing a defensive midfielder with a goal scoring midfielder isn't the answer? Is this a riddle?
  15. Hartley would be a fantastic signing. The guy gives 100% and is not exactly lacking in the skill department. We are also severely lacking in the 'Players with Beards' department so it addresses that problem also. Anyone against the signing of Hartley on non football grounds should go get a life.
  16. He did sign players but they were young and he gave them time to mature and they turned out to be superstars about 2 years after he signed them Apparently. he didn't sign anyone at Lyon. Transpired that all the players he had were bought by the Directors of the club. His job was to coach them. The Rangers job was apparently the first job where he got to pick the players bought in and what a fine job he made of it. On the continent it's fairly common for Managers to have little influence over the players brought to the club.
  17. He denied it due to the fact that he didn't say it!!! Would you rather he apologised for something he didn't do? *psychobudgie bangs head off wall repeatedly
  18. Yeah it was so dangerous that it only became an issue to you and other Rangers "fans" 10 years on? This is a fucking joke. So what if he said that. He couldn't have been much older then I am now when he said it and I am sure in 10 years time I will think and speak differently about certain things. Then he was an immature and perhaps naive teenager. now he is a fully grown man who has probably matured a great deal too. Plus add the fact that he was already very good friends with Rangers' youth player Barry Ferguson at the time. Pretty absurd insult to fire at his bud, don't you think? I understand your point Im sure they had light hearted banter with that sort of crack...I know lots of the unwashed and we have the same crack but the ones I dont know are a different kettle of FISH and its the same on both sides. But when a player says we are all orange barstewards and he would like to sheeite all over us then it looks pretty nasty to me....I dont take it personally because he said it about us collectively so he has to apologies to us all thats where I stand Hartley officially denied ever making the comment. What part of that are you having difficulty with? He's hardly going to apologise for a comment he never made. Good luck to you....you are comfortable with him I not, I resent being called an orange barsteward etc and so is every other fellow fan I know. If you accept Hartley fair enough thats up to you. Christ there is plenty on here start greetin when some of us say something but when these rich clowns do it its ach!!!! lets forget it, it didnay happen...Aye that will be right (beer) oh ffs. The writer of the fanzine made the comment. That is the logical conclusion of Hartley denying the comment. Take up your complaint with them.

  20. If the team cannot make space for the wingers they are facing a losing battle. Every time we got the ball out to them there was 3 players on them almost immediately. Playing the ball straight out to the wingers 9 times out of 10 will just result in a throw or loss of possession.
  21. We need a target man as cover for Prso. That imo would solve the entire problem. If you are going to no nonsense defend, you need someone to hold the ball up when it's pumped upfield. When Dado is not in the side the ball inevitably comes straight back. All our most successful teams had someone upfront who could hold the ball up. Prso, Mols, De Boer and Hateley are four that spring to mind. Didn't score 30 a season, but easily created that many opportunities for someone else. I'm also pretty sure that WS knows this and no doubt is trying to fix the problem (McCulloch).
  22. Hemdani had a shocker yesterday as did the two wingers but saying that the surface didn't exactly help when it came to playing a passing game. That is the main problem for me, when we are in a situation where we can't play passing football, we struggle. None of our players, bar Prso are geared up to play a long ball game and when we try to resort to it we inevitably come up short. When Prso is missing from the side there is noone who can come in and play as a target man, hence we struggle badly when he isn't there. McCulloch if signed could be the solution. He holds up the ball well and wins possession in the air more often than not. If we do get the opportunity to play the ball on the deck, he's good on the ground also. He's no Dado, but then again who is.
  23. You aren't seriously suggesting that we don't have a bigoted element in our support? I dont know....none of my fellow fans bother me with what they say or sing. Only the ones who dont defend their fellow fans are the problem ??? It should be what opposing fans say or sing and what players say about our support that should be the issue we should never question ourselves (beer) You can't go accusing people of burying their heads in the sand then do so yourself.
