  1. He's an impact player and has a habit of popping up with important goals at crucial moments. The guys also mad as a hatter.
  2. I selected Thompson but having now seen the Novo video give it to Nacho along with a life time contract and access to an on call therapist when he needs one.
  3. Wouldn't be that much a surprise, much the same reaction when Gary McAllister signed for Liverpool many moons ago. Plus they need someone to go on the piss with Gerrard.
  4. I have no reason to believe you're lying, but are you saying Rooney, Gerrard and Terry often have eight hour sessions of booze two days before a match? No. Of course they fucking don't. So now it's 3 days before a match every week or as a one off? Gerrard is regularly seen out in Southport on the piss and the most famous one being the one resulting in an arrest on a Sunday Morning when Liverpool were playing on the Wednesday so is that 3 days or 4? Is 4 ok or do you need that extra day to recover from your hangover? This is so complicated now.
  5. Sorry, you're comparing a national football team to your basketball team? That's ridiculous. Ok, they play college basketball. Some of the best 19-24 year olds in the country. Who cares. You would expect adults to be able to do what they want moreso. Professional athletes shouldn't drink. The best professional athletes especially don't booze for eight hours. As I said earlier, when their wages are questioned there's always the 'It's a short career' response. If it's that short, why can you not go through a few months of the year with no drink? If they win the treble then they can spend the next fortnight melted out their heid as far as I'm concerned, but not in the three days between matches. It's a Scottish problem. And a big problem at that. 1 - bollocks 2 - contradicting yourself on point 1 3 - bollocks again! at least say british The whole thing is so self righteous and PC its frightening. Becoming a pro sportsman means you lose any rights a normal person has? Absolute shite! List the top 10 football players of all time, and, then show me the ones who were tea total, non smokers, who ate properly! Then no doubt, some will come in with "the game has moved on" or some other crass punchline to justify it. Would Maradona, Cruyff and Best in their pomp be better than their respective players in their position today? Would Albertz be better than half the players we have? Or would they all be shit? If CRs basketball team were footballers, I would imagine they would STILL be better than Scotland, whose BIGGEST problem, is the fucking manager! Sorry, but, today has driven me fucking nuts! Aye, of all time. Show me the 10 best footballers recently and I'll bet that none of them drink heavily during a season. I realised my contradiction there, but I'll clarify: I don't think you should drink at all, but if you must then only do it after you win. I love how people pick out Gazza, Maradona, Best and Moore as players with unhealthy lifestyles that were brilliant. One's close to insanity, one has had two life-saving surgeries and the other two are dead. Aye, bet they're proud as punch now I'll name a few who I know who do drink heavily during the season. Rooney (You don't get a figure like that by spending time down the gym and drinking green tea), Gerrard (also likes picking fights in nightclubs in the Southport area), Terry, Kris Boyd. Obviously the 3rd one is a joke as he's not a top footballer.
  6. Haven't posted in a while but what a load of bollocks. A non incident that should have been handled internally that has now been blown out of all proportion by the media. The SFA and Burley couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery (quite literally it would appear). It's 3 days before the game ffs and personally I wouldn't have been upset if it was the entire team. Butcher openly admits telling his teams to go out after a game and have a few drinks so for me this is obviously a Burley thing. What a load of toss. If they don't play tonight and we lose I wouldn't be surprised to see Burley gone by the weekend.
  7. The comment that he has to establish himself in the Rangers team is in itself a complete joke of a comment. Name 1 striker at Rangers who plays every game. Walter Smith rotates his strikers depending on what he feels is needed. You don't score the number of goals Boyd has as a reserve. Totally back Boyd on this one. Burley's comment after the game were a joke. McFadden can't get a start at Birmingham, Fletcher is a reserve at Man Utd so it holds absolutely no substance whatsoever. The only thing Burley seems to be achieving is to destroy all the work at building team spirit that Eck and Walter put so much work into establishing. Will be interesting to see what happens when Ferguson and Hutton are fit again. As for the miss, damn, even Miller would have buried it.
  8. Closer to 5 - 4 - 1. A fuckin joke.
  9. Absolutely disgusted. Even without Cuellar and Ferguson there is absolutely no excuse for that debacle of a performance. Where the hell is Fleck, Furman and Hemdani? Why the hell was Dailly on the pitch? Playing 1 up against Kaunus is a fuckin joke. Playing Miller up when you have a load of better strikers on the bench an even bigger one. I'm embarrassed to be a blue nose at the moment and I never thought I'd ever say this but Smith out. Scotland OAPs do not a good team make. Whatever happened to 4-4 fuckin 2?
  10. Why Championship though? And not even decent Championship sides! Because they can all pay better wages than we can. Good old Sky.
  11. How the hell is getting to a European Final, winning two cups and getting within a whisker of winning the league despite a horrendous fixture pileup a poor campaign? Seriously, how?
  12. WS has stated that this year was all about putting in a challenge and we have achieved that and more. He said it was a long term plan to rebuild the team and any early success would be a bonus. The European run has probably if anything given him a jump on his plan due to extra money that will more than likely be available in the close season. It will be interesting to see the types of player he goes for during this period. We have a squad of hard working players and I don't expect too many of those to be leaving so I would think that we may see some more creativity and quality brought in to help pad out the missing link in the current first team. I'm disappointed in the way the season seems to be finishing but I certainly would not consider it a failure in any way.
  13. Injurys to Burke, Naismith, Adam and Beasley and the loss of Hutton have cost us dearly imho. All five of them provided the necessary wing play that the 4 5 1 system requires. He's tried using Novo and Davies in the wide position and it just isn't working. Neither is comfortable out there where as the others provided an excellent outlet which enabled us to get behind teams later in games when tiredness was setting in. I don't think it's a coincidence that our form has dipped when none of these players have been available. Adam was back on Sunday but apart from lacking match sharpness he appeared to be playing in the middle for the majority of the game. If you play 4 5 1 you need wingers, for 4 4 2 you need attacking full backs or at least a more attacking midfielder. We have none of them at this moment so Walter is trying to fill in with players who don't normally play in those positions (Whittaker, Novo, Davies, Broadfoot, Papac, Dailly). Personally I'm amazed we are in the position we are in given the money WS has had to spend and the short time in which he has had and Win or Lose the League I for one will be looking forward to next season as I fully expect WS to fill in the gaps I have mentioned. I have no doubt the money from the Hutton sale and the cash generated from the European run will go some way to help towards this. Rome was not built in a day and an all conquering Rangers side cannot be built in a season. Certainly not with the funds they had to work with. People are so quick to forget the mess we were in when WS came in. pb
  14. We are top of the league, in the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup and UEFA cup and just won the CIS Cup. <sarcasm>Uncle Walter obviously doesn't have a clue </sarcasm>
  15. This would mean that Celtic would lose their points for the 2 games and we would lose points for 3. We would then have a game in hand again with a 1 point advantage.
  16. If they don't find £30,000 in the next 24 hrs they are apparantly out of business so possibly not.
  17. Daily will provide cover for a number of positions, nothing more and nothing less. As for Whittaker taking over from Hutton, we paid 2 million for him and unless we have gone through a timewarp to 1995 we can't afford to have a 2 million quid player in the squad to simply cover a position. It makes perfect sense to cash in on Hutton and move Whittaker into right back which to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if this was the plan from the moment he was signed. In reality all we have lost is one player for which we have a ready made replacement. At least we are not looking at losing him with no one already in the team ready to step in. It also fills the coffers with 9 million, some of which I would expect to be given to Walter to strengthen other areas of the team (midfield anyone) which isn't exactly cheap. If we can sell 1 home grown player a season for upwards of 5 million Murray Park will simply be doing it's job.
  18. The Evesham Alqemi range are very good for the price. Got a 32" VX here.
  19. Cuellar is young and prone to the odd mistake but otherwise he was an exceptional signing for the money. Lee McCulloch is a good solid player for the SPL and can play in multiple positions. Whittaker was bought as cover for Hutton and the Right Midfield berth but 2million was maybe a bit steep. However he's a young guy with oodles of potential, a bit like Hutton a couple of years ago. Naismith if he fulfils his potential is again an absolute bargain. Cousin, the jury is out. 700k seemed a fair price for Beasley. So 11.22 million seems fair in my book.
  20. ffs, he's halfway into his first full season back. He inherited a team full of crocks yet we can go top of the league if we win our games in hand. We are in Europe after xmas after being drawn in a group with the champions of arguably 3 of the strongest leagues in Europe. People moaning about Walter should remember where we were when he came back. Some people really need to get a grip.
