At this stage of his career it is all about having security of a decent contract, one year just isn't enough. He has said as much, and it was the biggest factor in him leaving. Not being a regular starter was secondary to this. So, yes, if he had been offered a longer contract he would still be here. I don't blame the wee man one but for his comments. When you have players of lesser ability such as Naismith and Steven Smith getting into the starting positions ahead of you, it is only natural to be aggrieved. I'd much rather him come out and say this after he's left the club than when we were still fighting for the title during the season. He never said a word out of place at Rangers, accepted the decisions of every manager he played under and still gave his all for the jersey. Scoring some absolutely crucial goals in the process. You can't argue with that. All the best to the wee man back in Spain, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him pop up with a goal against Real Madrid or Barcelona, because he is more than capable of it.
