  1. His behaviour when he was stripped of the captaincy summed him up for me.Couldn't wait to phone Radio Clyde and his mate at the Sun. Baxter & Coop were real legends unlike this imposter. Admin- move to BF thread
  2. Remember hearing stories about a young winger we had in the late 80s, by all accounts he was running rings around even the more experienced players but was caught in possession of drugs. End of career. Dont know if i can mention his name but if i say we had another player with the same surname breaking through at the same time, the bears who attended youth /RLW games around this time will know who i'm talking about.
  3. Had the ability but not the dicipline/ambition.
  4. Believing the hype Paul Gascoigne & friends Alcohol Diet Lack of ambition Any or all of the above. Will agree that as a younger player he was outstanding.
  5. Can anybody tell me that if David Murray sells RFC would he immediately lose the book value of the club from the MIH accounts. A statement from our esteemed owner is long overdue. Not holding my breath mind you.
  6. Simple truth is,without knowing all the facts it is impossible to give a balanced opinion on the subject. Favoured journalists being fed a morsel here and there only confuses the situation.
  7. Can't see Man Utd-Chelsea-Arsenal etc being any more interested in sending a Reserve team to play in Scotland. Not going to happen.
  8. I attended the home game v Chesterfield , think it was a draw with Gordon Dalziel scoring for us. The away leg was a total humiliation (0-3) so only bad memories of this competition. Have vague recollections of us playing Southampton in the mid-seventies and losing both home and away but can't remember if i was at the game(Definately attended game v Southampton around this time but think it was Tennent Caledonian cup) Nowadays top English teams would have no interest in something like this.
  9. Derek Parlane. Born is the king of Ibrox Park. Preferred him to DJ. Still looks fit enough to play now.
  10. Having seen him upclose i think you may be correct.
  11. Aye Dundee were a decent team back then. Can't remember his name but their goalkeeper was excellent and i think went to the 74 World Cup.
  12. Also in Centenary Stand that day. IIRC the game took place on a Sunday and that the attendance was over 64,000. Think you're correct re- wearing red, can't remember anything about the game though.
  13. October 1971- A 4-0 win over Motherwell. Same day as Partick Thistle beat Celtic 4-1 in the League Cup Final at Hampden. Not a bad start.
  14. Add George Adams and Nick Peel All three regarded as the best in their positions. All three left because of MB.
  15. Why wait until half-time to make a change, should have happened as soon as they scored. Last season Dan Petrescu of Unirea saw the pattern of the game after 20 minutes needed changing and acted accordingly. WS wasted a quarter of the game tonight. Seen it too often
  16. Very under-rated player at the time. Never say die attitude combined with a fantastic engine and an eye for a goal(The number of goals he scored in important games ) Everything we should look for in a Ranger.Should maybe let him have 5 minutes alone with the players on Sunday.
  17. Could be the home game v Athens in 94 when he was playing left-wing. but spent most of the game defending as the Greeks dominated the game.
  18. You know the answer to that as well as i do.
  19. Might be that PMC as well as being a talented player, seems to be a decent human being who doesn't try to play up to the rabid provo element in the Celtic support. Just a hunch
