We were never replacing Tav and we spent up to 5m on Yilmaz. Was last part of the team we were strengthening and rightly so.

Far too simplistic to say it’s down to dribbling wingers. They were better defensively, had rotations and off the ball runs that were hard to track, far higher tempo, took their chances a lot better than we did. I’d say that had a lot more to do with it than how two players out of the 11 were set up. We played with wingers under gio, we had around 50% win ratio in away games like Saturday. If we played with wingers on Saturday we’d of probably end up with the same result as we were miles off it.

Chalk and cheese here mate you’re comparing a game v Tarriers who are open and attack minded to an organised and low block team on Saturday. Centre halves don’t get dragged out wide in low blocks, that’s the point of it. Many teams gave up the wings last season and we did fuck all with it majority of time. I remember people on here during Gio bad times it was we needed to go back to 10s, too predictable down the flanks now it’s the opposite. Tempo was far too slow, not creative enough, not decisive enough. It’s more than formation that was the problem on Saturday.

When we had wingers we moaned we need players who can play through low blocks, not just get wide and put it in the box. Tarriers inverted their full backs and got plenty bodies in middle of the park. They were also more or less man for man better than us which is the reason they won it rather than what position ours or their “wide” players are. They also took about 3 months to get going btw it didn’t happen overnight. We need a variety, sima albeit not been great so far can play wide if he chooses to do so. Every player bar Raskin was miles off it, clear the whole team need to improve.

Had them last season and watched us put a million balls in the box at home v Livi yet dropped points. Same went for St J away not long after. Team needs to play far better don’t think it’s as simple as change from 10s to wingers.
