  1. Action is needed NOW. As OP says just get him out of Auchenhowie and send him gardening for the time being....then appoint a caretaker.
  2. There wasn't really a choice, those who stood up, made sacrifices and 'battled' against the spivs did so....no one else appeared on the scene then or when lots of money was required. What you call the "failing part of the SDM board" was pretty much the part that opposed the CW takeover but were essentially powerless as Sir Duped/Bank ruled the roost with 85%. When you have spiv robbing bastards on one side then you are liable to be on a "guerrilla standing", the alternative is appeasement and an acceptance or throw absolute fortunes at the spivs. It's not so much a matter if they are the ideal group of people, it's more who else is there ? Who buys the DK shareholding ? Agree re. CEO. / SR is out of his depth. I could go back into why few revenue streams / problems with merchandise etc. but I won't. Apparently Parks was behind the Pedro appointment. On the face of it and taking into account how Warburton ended (from April 2016 onwards), appears to me as a symptom of a dysfunctional board. You'd be better off if you left the bitter hatred for certain individuals behind. Many are the same and it is anything but constructive. 'If you were in charge' ? ................Offer to buy the shares. The AGM and surrounding days may be eventful and will hopefully illuminate us on some issues. It also gives the board a chance to take stock, act and clearly communicate with shareholders/fans.
  3. Mr.Multi-sauce daily titbit Are you the 'twin poster' of a card carrying NUJ member who apparently lives in Donegal ?
  4. I've talked about strategy (see post you quoted). Can we ever stop celtic ?...........Yes, of course Will we stop them in the forseeable?........No How long is 'forseeable'?............Depends on finance, how good strategy and decision-making are but realism suggests we should be aiming for their potential 9 or 10 IAR seasons.
  5. Your post reflects a perception and understanding that is what it is. ie. a serial backer of a succession of robbing bastard spivs or a follower of the pied piper of spivland who somehow managed to fall off a cliff several times. Yet you come on here and think that I should listen to your preaching on the matter. It's like saying to your neighbour that of the two dentists up the road, there is one who has made a Jeremy Hunt of it for three of his mates and another who did a decent job for another three. Who do you think is the better bet ? ---------------------------- I've raised the subject again because of how the 'usual suspects' vented their spleen challenging other posters who didn't share their view. I also do it of occasion because until the 'usual suspects' actually decide to admit mistakes and learn lessons they'll be prone to a continuation of poor judgement. ----------------- I've gave an alternative that is very broad and has no meat on the bones. ie. a medium to long-term strategy that looks to realism and communicates to the support accordingly. That we look to various stages of a journey back to title success (taking into account finances) ----------------- I've asked the likes of BA and the host for their plans in more detail given they want rid of the board 'today'. Now whilst I think the board are currently part of the omnishambles and have been since April 2016, you can't sack them like a football team manager. There are financial implications and the small matter of finding others, willing with loads of cash. I look at the C1872 'elections' and the fact that only 6 put their names forward for 7 places. That should ring alarm bells about our own supporters perception and desire to become 'players' within our high profile situation. I doubt there will be a queue of rich folk with good intentions waiting at the clubs boardroom door. With that in mind, those who want the board to go (and I can understand some of the reasons why)....what would happen next ?
  6. A medium to long term strategy is needed. Frank honesty would be best at present and tailored short-term expectations. They won't be popular and risk crowd levels dropping but we need to build a solid base and not go chasing the end of the rainbow with money we haven't got. Never has the preverbial phrase of the next manager has to be a safe pair of hands and steady the ship been more apt. It needs to be steadied and built upon and then go from there............
  7. # Omnishambles Scottish players don't like being asked to leave their generally unsuccessful comfort zone as they seem to somehow think their custom of doing things is the way forward. However, there is no getting away from the fact that the appointment of Pedro was a high risk whim, apparently of one particular board member that was later ratified by others. What followed was a decision to back the manager with money and 'cull' the dissenting players. This goes against the norm and we are now finding out why it is the norm. Pedro wants out, it's seems obvious and has been for sometime. Something will have to give, if not prior to this weekend, then you'd think action might be taken before the AGM .
  8. I agree with you in that constant comparisons with them will in the forseeable make for an angry ongoing misery. In the short-term, we'd be better looking to increase our points total rather than focus on the gap. ---------------- I think what is reasonable would be to look to be in a place where we can challenge them successfully when they come to 9 or 10 IAR season.
  9. I think Pedro wants to go but will also want a substantial pay-off. If nothing else, I'd send him on gardening leave and put an in-house caretaker in charge in the meantime. Does Mark Allen (DoF) have a contingency ?
  10. McInnes turned down more money at Sunderland apparently because they were somewhat of a 'basketcase' of a club. The truth is that we are currently not an attractive proposition for a good manager and will struggle to get one. There are many who would jump at the job but not many what I'd regard as 'good ones' and even if we managed to get one, he's not going to get the budget to take us where we want to go. At least not for the forseeable.
  11. Do you mean the guy who was effectively given a life ban from professional football for gambling ?
  12. The same old tired out of context bullshit as always. More to the point What's your alternative and realistic plan that sees the club and it's finances where we'd like them to be ?
  13. Hark our resident captain of industry who can't tell a spiv from a banana and spends his life on social media telling others not to be lazy. If you had read what I wrote then you would see I have called the club (including the board) an omnishambles from April 2016 onwards. As for 'troughs',...are they the ones that the board are filling with their own money (soft loans) ? ----------- What's your alternative plan ?
  14. Harsh reality is that we aren't in a position to challenge celtic in the forseeable, period.....regardless of who comes in as manager.
  15. Fitness seems to always become an issue for teams where players and management aren't on the same wavelength.
  16. Hark the line-up of robbing bastard spiv backers delighting in the current situation. The reason we were so f**ked up as a club with so little revenue streams was partly down to the spivs you backed so loudly. Regime change was so difficult, mistakes were made that have come back to bite. ------------- Now you equate bad strategic management (from the board) with robbing bastard strategy. From March 2015 to April 2016 things went well, since then it's been an omnishambles.....but they aren't 'robbing bastards', they are actually keeping th lights on. ------------- I've listened to some of 'spiv years business experts' in the last few days and they are to a man, without a realistic alternative plan. Some who were looking at Ashley again, without memory as they spouted the well worn debunked bullshit why he would come to Rangers.
  17. If true, it sounds as if it's a continuation of a ticket being worked. However, the players don't come out of this well either. The club is and has been an ominshambles for a year or so. Pedro appears desperate to get sent back to Portugal.
  18. If I was in George's position I'd be fine with it ! I think the main difference between now and say even only a couple of decades ago is the relative amount of money involved and all the side effects this has had on the game. Over the four decades I've followed football, it's increasingly more business orientated than sport. It was a business back then as well but for me, the balance has been well and truly f**ked. Scottish football is being marginalised and European football is something that even for the present celtic side, is something they whore themselves out for, taking inevitable pastings for loads of dosh. Even in Scotland, we have one dominant club because of a huge financial gulf.
  19. Watching the football is fine. I was referring to the off-field attention they receive which is a circus that takes attention away from the game. Add the scale of revenue they generate for themselves, which is obscene...yet they still want to cheat the taxman.
  20. Recent political events notwithstanding (which will change the focus of the next 'El Classico'), I'm seek of the Messi v Ronaldo show almost superseeding the small matter of Madrid v Barca.
  21. Btw...is this 'story' on drip feed mode ? When do you tell us about what they whispered at the urinals ?
  22. Mr. 'Multiple-Sauce man'.............. should know his way about restaurants.
  23. For what reason did they take the banner ? Free Speech is only for some, Scottish football supporters get treated in a discriminatory manner on the back of flawed legislation.
  24. The FA specialise in spectacular F-ups when it comes to appointing managers. It's as if part of their remit was to provide other nations with an ongoing similar style of comedy but with different actors. Did anyone actually think that Southgate was going to inspire the latest batch of generaly over-rated and over-paid players who will always qualify, beat big teams in friendlies but bottle it every second summer ?
  25. You appear to have as many sources as some of the tarrier bloggers and given the customary slant, possibly the same ones.
