  1. I think any win breeds confidence, and I'm quite sure Ally will be happy today. We pretty much controlled the game, but did lack a cutting edge at times and it was a bit of a "Get Out of Jail" with the penalty decisions. However, I certainly do not want to be negative today - the cutting edge will come, the defence and midfield were good (if not great) and winning is what it is all about.
  2. I don't know about Whyte not wanting him to go on last week, however there was absolutely no need for him to go on the radio today. Why ?? I think he wanted to promote unity at the club and to curb fan's fears over the transfer dealings - but he let himself get shafted and has provided easy fillers for the papers tomorrow.
  3. I've been defending him lately, however he made a right arse of things today.
  4. Let's just be wary of such confidence for now.
  5. Been good in the 2 games he's played - interesting to find out how he will do against better opposition.
  6. You don't need to be Enstein to figure out what they were going to ask today. I'm quite sure Smith's goes on these forums, same as the media, to gauge fan's feelings at present.
  7. Ally was correct not to mention the guy's injury - totally unprofessional of Smith to mention this.
  8. I've got to agree with this post - they were the questions that everyone has been asking. As for Smith, I've been defending him in other threads, and as part of the Directorate of Rangers he has to promote the club at all times. However, he did struggle at times during the interview and seemed totally unprepared for the questions asked. Surprising.
  9. And if we don't get him till January - injuries to our small squad could mean we're out of Europe, domestic cups and league title before he arrives. I know that sounds a bit melodramatic - however, there's playing hardball and there's getting a decent squad together NOW to ensure our season starts as well as possible. We are not talking about millions here.
  10. Good post and I understand your frustrations. However, is all this Smith's fault? - is it his incompetence or is he purposely denying Ally his transfer targets ? Of course he's not. Rather than blaming Smith for our transfer dealings so far - I would maybe look higher up in the chain of management.
  11. Whilst it may be playing hardball, - it does nothing to help the manager at present who is wanting to assemble a squad ASAP to fight on domestic and European fronts immediately.
  12. It's just when you were brought watching these guys, it's hard to believe they're that age now. (also means that I'm becoming an old-git )
  13. Christ,that's the 1st time I've seen a photo of him for years. (He's looking old )
  14. The £5M - £25M was stated as "player investment" - it was never made clear if these monies were inclusive of signing on fees, wages, bonuses, etc.
  15. IMO - it wasn't the right thing for Ally to divulge as much information on the lad's current contract situation at the Press Conference today. Lack of experience on his part maybe.
  16. Got to agree with all of that. Has his moments - and some have been great over the past few years, however can be the weakest link on many occasions. Out of interest - how many times has be sent off since he's been with us (3 times at least against Celtic I think).
  17. I think that is maybe a more viable option than Cuellar to be honest.
  18. We'd need to be quick - I think they name their squads on 31st Aug or 1st Sep.
  19. This is a brave or very irresponsible comment for Jack Irvine to make.
  20. Like most fans - having never seen any of them ever play, or indeed ever heard of them - then I wouldn't have a scooby. I'll leave that to Ally.
  21. I understand the frustration, however he is in a Directorial/Management role in our club. You would find it hard to hear many people in his position/role say any more or less about the innner dealings of their organisation. I know it comes across as "blah, blah, spin, spin ........." but these guys would get absolutely slated from within and outwith their company if they said any more.
  22. You seriously expected him to bring up our tax issue on a nationwide radio station - I'm glad there was no mention of it, and that Talksport didn't feel the need to get all "shock jock" to ramp up listening figures. (The same can't be said for the Scottish media however).
