  1. Am a bit young to remember this but heard it from a few older bears that Cooper was nicknamed "Albert" after a character from corrie called Albert Tatlock who enjoyed a good moan . also am sure he was referred to as "The moody blue" .
  2. Laudrup did not come for the cash although am sure we paid him quite generously after playing for clubs like Munich and Milan coming to Rangers was probably more to do with knowing he would start most games therefore get picked for Denmark . Gazza did not need the cash and am sure if Rangers had not bought him Spurs or someone in England would have , he came for a better chance to play in the Champions League and get his career back on track after injuries in Italy . As for the Dutch players i think Dick Advocaat had a lot to do with them picking Rangers and not really what kind of cash we were offering . e.g players like gio seen Rangers as a chance to make a name for themselves under a well respected Dutch coach.
  3. Its a great read mate, a tried to put a link in the thread to yer blog .
  4. Mario Jardel To this day i still wish we had signed this man he would have been the final piece in the Jigsaw imho . Of course we did not manage to seal the deal and bring him to Ibrox he went on to have a fantastic career though . 1996–2000Porto 125(130) 2000–2001Galatasaray24(22) 2001–2003Sporting CP49(53) I think the cash spent on Flo should have been used to bring this man to Ibrox i honestly believe had he been in our team from 98 onwards we would have cracked the champions league . Where he scored 25 goals in 46 games in the Champions League making him the 16th best ever striker to play in the competition . My link
  5. He was 5 ft 9 and a half inches by no means a midget a very decent player , one does wonder though how he managed to stay at Rangers for so long hardly ever playing he must have been good to have around the dressing room .
  6. Someone got in there before me with Huistra so one of my other favourite players Davie Robertson
  7. Naw bud Klos was good but never better than Goram , Klos could not really deal with pass backs where as Goram lapped them up and id say Goram was a better shot stopper aswell Chris Woods - 262 Apps/129 Clean Sheets Andy Goram - 286 Apps/115 Clean Sheets Stefan Klos - 318 Apps/115 Clean Sheets
  8. A should have saved this for Halloween , How about this Scream Team !! would give ye Nightmares !!! Ok this is my All time Team Tactically speaking
  9. There loads of good dreams teams you could pick from down through the years . as a club we have been really lucky i think with the like of Baxter , Cooper , Laudrup etc
  10. An energetic, dynamic right back, Mel's powerful shooting earned him the nickname 'Zico' - after the Brazilian star sold to Glasgow Rangers for £800,000 in March 1989 Sterland had played 347 games for Sheffield Wednesday and scored 49 goals. His three goals in nine games helped a Rangers side managed by Graeme Souness win their second Scottish league title in three seasons .
  11. d'Artagnan . The Dude . MosesMcNeil , North Road , swally , wvb .
  12. Amassed a record number of disciplinary points during one season with Rangers. He was a tough, physical player who would probably not suit today's style of non-contact football; he was rated by The Times as the 23rd hardest man in football and a valuable member of midfield . During his time with Millwall he was called up to play for the England B team on three occasions in 1989, scoring one goal. Jeff Kenna: "Terry Hurlock was a fierce competitor - even in five-a-side on a Friday. He didn't hold back and age didn't come into it." Reggie Spooner: "an incredible bulk of a man, and it is truly a joy to see opponents try to circumnavigate him without the aid of Sherpa guides, whilst trying to maintain a full set of limbs." "It was a month I look back on with good memories. I once scored from a corner and played against Terry Hurlock, which was quite interesting. I stayed away from him as much as possible"! – David Beckham recalls his loan spell at Preston. Tony Cascarino: "Some of us [Millwall players] were playfully goading Terry about what he was going to do to Vinnie Jones in the upcoming fixture with Wimbledon. Without saying a word, he got up from the table and walked to the entrance of the pub and ripped the door off its hinges."
  13. Another one of Big Ecks bargain basement signings not that he had much other choices . Any idea how many games he played ? on wiki says zero but am sure he started or played in one or two ?
  14. This man was probably the 1st Rangers player i fell in love with .After his Goal in the Champions League against Brugge ,i became fascinated by all things dutch and started to support Holland and still do . so it was very pleasing for me when we signed Loads more dutch players during Advocaat`s time . Between 1990 and 1995 Rangers where he won five League medals, two League Cup medals and a Scottish Cup medal.Playing over a hundred games and scoring 22 goals plus earning 3 caps while at Rangers . He left Rangers to play for Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the J. League ,he currently manages Dutch Club De Graafschap .
  15. Often pondered that one myself , might be something to do with the pressure of playing at a massive Club like Rangers .
