He has had a better second half...but that was after Brazil went down a man and more space was opening up. I disagree on him being active in the first half though but you are correct...he is playing in his correct position tonight as the number 10 especially with good wingers.

Gedion starting tonight for the USA-U23s in a friendly in Brazil against their U-23s. Gedion is playing the #10 role in a 4-2-3-1 tonight. At half, he has been pretty invisible so far with the USA down 0-1 As someone stated in the halftime analysis... "For those wondering, Zelalem is in fact on the field. No need to put out milk cartons with his face on it."

Seemed tired and heavy legged in the 2nd half at times. Was in a great position on his shot on goal and keeper made a great save.

He is young and hasn't been on form for quite some time either for club or country. He is not pish...just not a finished product yet.

Possibly but I still wouldn't have given it and would have told them to get up. Refereeing at a U13-14 tourney this afternoon and see a damn old guy wearing an ugly new green Septic jersey at the fields. Haven't asked him if he was a priest or not.

Hence the 50/50 comment.

To me, Holt wasn't on the ball and since his back was to the goal, it wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity. It's a very soft penalty to me at best. It was more of a 50-50 ball With both players extending their bodies to get on the ball. Could the center have given it? Yes but I would imagine that most would not. The handball was a good non call because arm was in a natural position and not extended. Was it an advantage? Yes but not intentional

The girls coach ended about 6 years ago. Been a licensed USSF referee (Grade 6) and a NCAA referee for the past 5 years. Was an assistant referee this past summer for the US Club U-17 Girls National Championship game and the Boys U18 Semi-Final game. Wouldn't have given a Penalty for either opportunity.

As a referee, I didn't think the first one was a clear cut penalty. Thought it was more of a 50/50 ball and both players reached to make a play with Holt's back to the goal and not in an obvious scoring position. If he had been on the ball and running a the defender, then yes its a penalty. Also, on the handball on Gray (?), his hand was in a natural position and it was more ball to hand instead of handling of the ball.

Tavs looked heavy legged and tired in the 2nd half.

As I said in another thread, he did not impress at all for the USA U23s while on international duty a few weeks ago. The USA scored more goals without Gedion than with him. He was probably the 7-8th best USA player.

There is a response from Forlan over on the Boardroom that confirms that no meeting minutes were released. Since he is on the Board, wouldn't it be better to ask him directly?
