*****The Official Braga vs Rangers Thread*****
Hilly86 replied to Davy Vandenbroucke's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
We stopped pressing teams from the front in numbers. Now even SPFL shite gets plenty of time to embarrass them regularly. -

Too busy panicking at the thought of having to shoot. -

VAR is a better defender than Connor Goldson. -

Next Rangers manager attitude right there . It's not fair that we're struggling for fit, reliable defenders but Goldson is the ever-present one. -
...which, completely coincidentally, they played away from home while Ibrox was empty. Who would have thought they'd have got through a Covid-affected season with full home crowds and gate receipts? Still waiting on Robertson not being found wanting on that one.

Abandoned a style of play that worked, instead choosing one that blunted us and gives any opposition a chance. Only rivals picked a way to play that's almost guaranteed to succeed in Scotland, with players buying into it completely. Too many losing the same intensity or interest at the same time and it's understandable.

He gave the impression of being able to tell some of them some truths. GvB just doesn't seem to inspire the same intensity in the players. -

After the relief, I hope they all completely recognise that this was a shambolic performance throughout. Lucky to still have it in their power to win this. -

And playing in the one bit of the pitch that doesn't look like a WWI battlefield. -

If we just keep passing it among McGregor and the defence, let Arfield wander about the place aimlessly, it'll eventually flatten out. Or something. -

I played 20-a-side games with more quality than this as a kid. -

That team is fine, if we see them with energy and pressing high straight away. 3-1. -
No danger they don't bring the league trophy, too. Maybe get Tavernier to present it to them before the game? "Today's Guard of Honour is brought to you by Castore"

Hopefully another example of this squad being embarrassed enough by their last performance, to try to make up for it with a fast start and some aggression. I was more confident about that happening against Hearts at Ibrox than tonight, but please Rangers? -
Being asked to be the most defensive midfielder, a temporary centre-back and Goldson in full headless chicken mode behind him, a chronic lack of control and attacking threat in front of him to make up for it.

I was talking about the Rangers players and management.

One solitary win was in our hands at 2-0 up at half-time, at home to Motherwell. They don't have the focus or concentration levels required for anything near a 100% points return.

Because Rangers, double the crowd in their stadium, a TV game that doesn't come with a Gaelic commentary. The reason most of them exist. -
More lazy and unprofessional than nice, I think. It's just in the club from top to bottom, has been for a long time. Makes it difficult not to to deduce that we get what we deserve when we just accept playing to different rules.

They've been doing it all game. Nothing more "Scottish football" than raising your effort levels against Rangers, long balls, nipping the ref's ear while trying to provoke red card...and it working. -

It would help if players had the wits to go down after challenges like Mulgrew's. Hard enough getting ref'd to a different standard without making it easier for them.
