  1. Was at Easter Rd when George Best played for them. As he was taking a corner someone threw a can of beer at him , to which he picked it up and kidded on to take a swig out it. Anyway , back on topic , Willie Johnston , along with Colin Stein were my first Rangers heroes as a young pup .
  2. I've already done that Gogzy. After Div 3 , where I witnessed, from Januar till May, the worst football I have ever seen from a Rangers team in my near 50 following them. When it became clear that Ally was staying then , I decided to give him another go. And I have done - right up till the Raith game I gave him every chance. How many more chances does he get before we realise he's not up to it and we've wasted all these years and what little resources we have.
  3. Sorry for delay GB - just in from work. Person I know got a contact name and email address for you , which I'll send you in a PM . Unfortunately he couldn't get a price list but hopes to in the next day or two. It's up to you ( and others ) if you want to wait and see how the prices are , in case we could do this ourselves , or go with the contact and see what transpires. If we do go for this ourselves the guy ( a good bear ) I'm sure will let us use his monthly quota , though he doesn't know how much that is.
  4. The reason I mentioned EH was to have something official as opposed to someone off the street chancing their arm ! ! But if you think that would work then great. The pal , I was talking about , says he'd try and find out any info he can when he goes in tomorrow.
  5. Difficult one , but for me Davie Robertson just shades it !
  6. Great stuff GB. I used to work in Diageo at Shieldhall Rd a few years back and even as contractors we were allowed to buy a certain amount of whisky etc at discounted prices. Just phoned a pal of mine that's still there , off and on , and he'll get prices for us though I don't know how much he can get , if that deal is still on. It may be worth Erskine Homes , themselves , giving them a phone ( would carry more weight than just us bootleggers ! ) and they may get an even better deal - a worthy cause and public relations etc. Anyway I'll get back to you when he gets any info , as the shops only open a couple of afternoons a week , in the meantime I'll pledge £10 to the boozefest.
  7. Gerry Neef used to help out with the football on a Friday night at Cardonald Primary back then . Just as well we used benches as goals and not crossbars then !
  8. Oooft. That could be a new topic in itself .
  9. If we can take away the Ally bashing aspect of this , would anyone think this would be a good idea for the pre season ? Give us a chance to see our youngsters , that many of us don't get , and a chance to get some revenue in , without having to pay for an opposition. Apart from that , I think it would make for a good game.
  10. You're no slow ! Most of us read the post and reply to it , but take a bow Rfc52 , you look at the gender and reply ! Cap doffed .
  11. Faure is a good shout. I thought he did well at the start of the season as a CH before we were allowed to play all our signings.
  12. Mohsni and Jig have been getting away with it in the league this season because of its standard. When we had to step up a class , Raith and DU , they were found wanting. This is why guys like Gasparotto should have been given a run once the league was realistically won because it's far too dangerous to do it next season . Whether he's the answer , I don't know , but this was the time to see what he's got.
  13. Great to hear from the next Rangers captain.
  14. I'm really not sure on that one to be honest. I accept we can't flood a team and keep them there when they don't perform , but there could and should be cases where we know it's going to take time for them to get their confidence and we should stick with them . Like I said Aird looked like a wee boy when he came into the team last season but we stuck with him and he's a vastly different player now. I think the way Mohsni has been playing recently , and Jig's getting slower , we should have introduced Gasporratto and stuck with him , good or bad until , like Aird he'd settled. How's the time to break them in , not once were in the spfl.
  15. Agreed. I know people can get frustrated but they should vent that on those that should know better than a young 19 year old just starting to learn the game. He's improved greatly over the last 12 months since he's been given a run in the team .
  16. Of those you can really only say MacLeod and Aird have been regulars. I'm surprised that Crawford has had so any games because he's one I'd like to see more of , unless many of them include coming on in the 70th minute ! I think what's just as important is giving them a run of games ( Aird being a good example in my above post ) as opposed to a game here and there over a couple of seasons.
  17. It's a fair shout OP , but while I don't think it is in anyone's benefit to flood the team with youngsters , I agree with you we should have played more than we have. You make a good point with Mohsni , and from what I've heard Gasparratto ( spelling ? ) has trained with the Canada first team ( don't know if he's played ) and he , for one , must be wondering about his chances here. With such a prospect it would be a waste to lose him without giving him a real chance. Despite some giving him stick , Aird is a classic example of our youth coming through. I see a big difference in the confidence he has now , to get involved with the game , compared to the ' wee boy ' that first came in last season. In this financial climate , we need more of that.
  18. Went to a few reserve games when I was young back about 1970 ish and he was always the goalie.
  19. FFS . Time and a place and this isn't it.
