  1. I know what you're saying mate but I don't think they're anywhere near good enough either, they've regressed massively from last season, I genuinely think we'll catch them, sometimes you can just sense it, two year ago when they started gathering momentum while we were Champions you could see it slowly getting away from us, they had a feel good factor and everyone was positive and united, I think we're getting to this stage now, they are absolutely hopeless against a low block and thats what they face 90% of games up here, I'll not be surprised if we get another chance to make up points again next weekend.
  2. Just back from Pittodrie, I'm annoyed we didn't pull points back on the tims today but I'm not as annoyed with the team as I have been recently after dropping points, we gave away a really snide goal and after getting away with one just before it, that should've really been the warning sign we needed, however I thought we played some decent stuff, definitely in midfield anyway, our movement and interplay is a helluva lot better, we hit the woodwork 3 times and their keeper made a few good saves, we more than deserved that point and will play a lot worse and win games this season. Not going to gaslight folk and convinve them we were brilliant but I thought we looked like a Rangers team who can win a title again and the more time Clement gets with these players the more of a tune he'll get out of them. We'll catch celtic, they're falling to bits, big injuries, new signings nowhere near the quality of those they've replaced, in fighting with fans/club, their style of play reminds me more of us under Gio, everyone who hurt us last season is either gone, injured or simply not fitting into their new system, we seem to be united and building momentum whilst they're the complete opposite, disappointed we didn't win but I'm very encouraged with our direction.
  3. With the whole association trained quota needing to be filled that's exactly what happens when targeting these type of players.
  4. No sure about that tbh, they seem to be better away from home, this is their record away in the League so far... P7 W6 D1 L0 GF16 GA3 Pts19 - that's despite the fact they've been here, Tynecastle, Easter Road and Pittodrie. I think they seem to toil a lot more at the Piggery. Agreed on Beale being a bottle job at Ibrox though, they came here expecting us to skud them and couldn't believe their luck.
  5. I've genuinely never understood the clamour for Souness, his arrival in 86 signalled a return to us becoming a serious football club again, I get the nostalgia that comes with it, I was young but still remember the devastation after he left and the fact it almost cost us the the title, but that was 32 years ago so that's not even a big issue for me, it's the fact he's been out of football for so long and never done a job we're looking for him to do, so what exactly will he bring to the club? Then there's the whole Lampard situation, Rangers asked for his input, he gave it and he put all his eggs in Lampard's basket, not my choice but he's entitled to his opinion, my worry is if he has a big influence inside Ibrox and things don't ruin smolthly for Clement, does he put unnecessary pressure on him? Souness' ego has always been through the roof, not the worst trait in football but could be problematic if it means he can tell the board that he was correct all along.
  6. What did mitre do? Feels like he's been on here forever.
  7. Canny say I'm a big fan of them much myself either.
  8. Where are these better days man, for 12 years we've been a riddy outwith one solitary season and even then we couldn't even enjoy it with the folk we've sat beside through sll the shite and embarrassments, then when we do get back to games we're as shite and pathetic as ever again, other than the 90s, the tims have ruled the roost since the 1960s, this latest installment of domination is worse than anything we've had to endure before or since. We're an irrelevance in terms of domestic competition now, that mob are so money orientated that it stops them from pulling away completely but all it does is leaves us close enough to them to make it look and feel like being better than us is an achievement for them, it's not. I can't fault anyone trying to convince themselves we'll get our time but football isn't a cycle like it used to be.
  9. I know Davis's post match comments aren't going to go down well but what else can he say? As brutal as we are right now, we are still in with a shout in the league, just because of the sheer number of games left to play, but if we fall 9/10 points behind then you can forget about it, he literally can't afford to fuck these soft as shite losers off or else they'll just not bother their arse on Sunday. He just needs to appease them for now and do all he can to get a tune out of them for one more 90 minutes, he probably can't stand most of them like the rest of us but for the sake of the ckub's season, he's just appeasing them for now. I'd imagine there'll be a new manager after the International break so he doesn't need to rely on them again, it's not what we want to hear but it is what it is for the moment.
  10. We're in the mud, fucking abysmal and folk are arguing about who made somebody captain 5 years ago, fucking hell
  11. I'm okay with Rae being involved, I'm in danger of sounding like a dinosaur here but I think we need real Rangers men back in the building, maybe not at the very top of the managerial tree but we lost a bit of what makes us who we are when Jimmy Bell died and I don't think that's been replaced. Add to the fact that Davis and McGregor left the building at the end of last season too and there's no more Walter Smith about the place and John Greig doesn't get around the stadium as often anymore either, then there's a big gap where true Rangers voices can let the players know what's expected of them. I'd like to think Alex Rae can provide that at least.
  12. When we got rid if Pedro at the same stage of the season we ended up with Murty until the following May. Granted McInnes knocked us back in the December but even then it was still a 6/7 week wait.
  13. The stars aligned? Fuck me mate covid saved him, he would've walked at the end of 2019-20 if the league wasn't cut short, I think the only reason he never chucked it after the whole Alfie fiasco at Tynecastle was because we had the Leverkusan games coming up, the atmosphere at Ibrox the night of the Hamilton game was as toxic as I can remember, folk going on about what Beale was getting, that night was worse.
  14. You know I kinda get where Fergie was coming from here but I also know where the boy Derek is coming from too. I think he was right in saying you could see from pre-season that things didn't look right, I think most of us had similar concerns and while Ferguson might agree with that I think he's probably looking at it from a devil's advocate point of view, you're not going to give your manager 6 months to bed in then give him full reigns of summer transfer business and sack him during pre season, then you're not really going to sack him in the first four weeks of a season either, it's just feels a bit too knee-jerk trigger happy. Beale did end up backing himself into a corner though and one more slip was always going to be one too many, at that point you're probably thinking what's the point of limping on if you're just gonna sack him after the next bad result, so if that was genuinely the case the Board should've just sacked him, but I think Barry was just thinking along the lines that if you've invested so much time and then money into a manager then it wouldn't make sense not to give him time, being articulate has never been his strong point though.
  15. If we can get Denilo on the park and scoring goals regularly (25+ for the season) then it'll take a lot of pressure off Dessers and Lammers, suddenly 12-15 goals from Dessers won't look to shabby if someone else is scoring for fun. And if Denilo is scoring that number of goals then there's a good chance Lammers is supplying a lot of opportunities for him, whether they'll be good Rangers players or not remains to be seen but we won't get the best out of them regardless unless we as a team start scoring goals, that breeds confidence and that for me probably lies with Denilo.
  16. After the last 12 year, it's mind boggling that any fan still has a remote piece of sanity left to work with. Even the year we actually won the league we couldn't step inside a ground and cherish it with the folk who sat around us for that whole depressing decade you couldn't walk into a boozer after the game buzzing about the result or how the league was shaping up, you couldn't go for nights out knowing we were back at the top, it was like right we'll give you everything you ever wanted but we'll take away every single thing you can enjoy it with. Soon as we're back in among our own it's back to mind numbing frustrations again.
  17. I don't even dream of us dominating Scottish Football anymore, I just want us to win every now n again, we can't even do that.
  18. Like I say I want someone with genuine experience but if Lampard was announced I know I'd very easily be able to convince myself to get excited about it and all the positives I listed above would be my reasoning. Fickle 😄
  19. If it is going to be Lampard then at least he's got some managerial experience, he's managed around 200 games, done well at Derby and in his first spell at Chelsea and has big club experience. He also has the name value that Gerrard had that could attract players plus force the club into spending money. That sounds like I'm making a case for him, I'm not but compared to other managers we've went for, at least he ticks far more boxes, I want some genuine experience though.
  20. I don't think goal difference is relevant at the moment to be honest, if you do make up seven points then the goal difference would inevitable swi g too so I'm not too concerned about that right now. There's seven months of the season left, if we can on average make up a point a month on them then we'll be good to go heading into the final few weeks of the season, sounds idealistic, I get that but I just can't get my head around accepting the league is done when There's still 93 points to play for. The tims have only won 5 more points than us throughout 2023, we aare in a mess at the moment but Cantwell, Raskin, Lawrence and Denilo will be back soon, Roofe still has a part to play and Matondo has been coming onto a game, we'll continue to win a lot of points, if they go on a run like they did last season and we can't lay a glove on them then fair enough but I can't see them doing that, they don't make anywhere near as many chances as they did, they've lost a helluva lot of goals from their team too, they'll still win the majority of their games but will drop 10+ points more than they did last year IMO so I think we still have a genuine shot. We need our best players on the pitch but the new manager will also need to recruit well in January.
  21. I'm happy with Davis at least in the short term, former club captain, captained Southampton and captained his country during their most successful period in 40 years, he's a leader of men and will put demands on the players, he also has a standard that he'll expect players to reach, I don't think he has to be overly technical, just do the basics right now, win on Sunday and we can properly reassess during the International break.
  22. Just realised I'm replying to someone called swallows his own spunk FFS 😄😄
  23. There's 31 games to go and 3 Old Firms, you can't ask for realism when saying the league's gone already, the tim's are nowhere near as strong as they were last season, now I'm not saying that automatically gets us closer to them but I'm not writing us off after seven League games. Momentum is a huge thing in sport, we get a good manager in who can get a system and a tune out of these players then we'll be capable of giving them a challenge, the PSV & Betis home games gave us an indication of what this team can do, coached and set up properly then it's all to play for.
  24. Feels like a weight has been lifted but I'm not sure if it'll make much difference in the immediate future. Sunday is monumental, seven points is doable but I think if we fall any further behind we can forget about the League, the big worry is we're down to the bare bones for St Mirren.
