  1. When Ally says that we are looking for the "right" targets. I know that is supposed to mean that they will fit our style od play, be a certain age, etc.... But it almost seems now that in order to "fit" our plans, these players need to be young, good enough to be in our squad and about 50 quid. Before anyone rips me apart, I am glad we are out of debt and do not want to see what happened to the club happen again. But you've seriously got to consider how much money we have in the transfer budget. BTW: If we sign Raul kid, plus Ortiz that is 900thou-which is what we got from the Charlie Adam deal, so we really haven't even spent any of whyte's money yet. I don't like paying over the odds for players but unless our scouting team is brilliant and can unearth players from no where then we might just have to pay a little more than we want to. I just feel that (for example) we bring in 3 good players but it costs us 1-2 million more than we want. We can make it up by qualifying for the Champs league. Let's say we got Carlos-3mil-we want 2mil, Goodie 2mil-we want 1.5 and some one else(that can enhance the squad) I think we would have a team good enough to get into the champs league and if not grab a third spot then get a run in Europe. That should easily make up for the extra bit we didnt want to spend. BTW-I think this might have been a little rant/me thinking out loud. Let me know what you think
  2. I think both Goodie and Miller would enhance our attack and be good options. But I think that it is hard to compare what each have done in the past two seasons. Yes, Kenny has played superb and was a huge reason we won the title last year and the year before but he is also at his peak right now and at 32 will be on the down slope of his career. Looking at Goodwillie, he has also had two good season and this has been as a 20 and 21 year old. Miller's seasons might have been better(as far as production goes) but I would prefer to pay a little more for a player who is 10 years younger, not even near his prime yet and still able to enhance our squad. I think that if Miller comes back he will be a great option for the next year or two. If Goodwillie comes in we could have a player that might not be a good as Miller is right now but could be here for the next decade and has the potential to be a much better player. For me it seems a tho Rangers want the cheaper option-unless we could get Kenny for under a million then I think Goodie (even at 2mil) is the best option.
  3. I feel like Eddie Murphy here... Another 48 hours! hahaha I wish Ally would stop talking about this every day!! I like that he is trying to be honest and upfront while keeping us in the loop but it makes him look silly when players choose other teams or the deal falls through. Also, these 24-48 hour timelines that spread over a week! As for the marguee signing, it is a little confusing because Ally just talked about quantity vs quality and the need for numbers not a Jelavic type signing. As someone stated before, maybe a Cuellar or Goodie is his definition of marquee. Trying to relax but getting ever so impatient!
  4. I agree. I would prefer we spend our money on someone a bit younger with the potential to grow into our team (while still having an immediate impact of course)and maybe even some sell on value/in their prime.
  5. As someone stated before, Miller does what is best for Miller and he doesnt care who he bothers. It's hard to argue when someone chases the money especially in his case when he was getting offered more than double the wages. It is clear that Miller loves being a footballer but does not truly love any club (except maybe Hibs) but overall Kenny is looking out for himself. As fans we want out players to show the same passion for the club that we have but in this case it is not true. Many want him back because we know he can do a job and is effective when played. That seems to be where the argument is. For me, I am not really fond of the guy overall but I will love every goal he scores for us (if he returns).
  6. Considering we sold him for 500thou and along with this sell-on fee, which is probably around 1-1.5 million (depending on what you read) that means we sold him for something like 1.5-2million. Now I know he turned out to be a good player but at the time and all things considered I think we did pretty good to get that amount for what we dealing with at the time. All in all I wish he was still at Rangers but to get that amount I am fairly pleased.
  7. thanks for the info fellas! Hopefully they will work out!
  8. Thanks fellas for confirming that! fakin tools!!! hahahaha
  9. Hey Fellas, saw that we signed those Man City twins (18 years old) a little while back and read that they were training with the first team. Does any one have any info on them? I think I heard one was a CB and the other a RB but that is all I know. (I read this in the Scotsman btw) at least that's what I got from it. Just thought I would try and see if they were any good.
  10. Not here to complain but I am just wondering what you guys are thinking so far with regards to our transfer dealings. I know that a lot of people are raging and I must admit I am a bit frustrated myself. I am wondering if you think that Whyte and Co are setting unrealistic targets with regards to players wages??? Again, I know pretty much nothing that is going on (like most of us) but do you think that the problem could be related to Rangers valuation of players vs what the going rate is? I know that the championship teams and prem teams are offering more but in the past players chose Rangers for the champs league and trophies, but are we offering so little that it's not even worth it now??? OR is it that the SPL is so shite that players look at player for the Gers as a step down??? (I can't believe I am even saying that!) but you gotta call a spade a spade. Anyways, let me know what you think.
  11. The problem too is that the papers and info from Ally and Co in the papers state that we are really interested in these players and hype the shit out of them. They continually state how it's important to get these priority targets in before pre-season. Then all of a sudden it all goes cold and they head some where else. This stuff is just messing with the fans minds. Add all this to the fact that we haven't been able to spend money over the last two years and people are losing their shit! If the club don't want us to get frustrated then stop spouting how important these players are and how much we want them if they are not really interested. Along with this we as a club look stupid (or are at least starting to if this keeps up) Again we only hear about the 5k limit on transfers/being rejected and other rumours like that but I think Rangers need to handle their business a little better and be more careful how they report this to the media, cause one thing for sure is that they are gonna twist things in order to sell a story. BTW-My little rant: No matter how you shake it-When we lose out on bosmans that will help our team and only have a small kitty to bring in 6 players, I don't know how that doesn't frustrate a fan. How do people think we will be able to afford the transfer fees and wages of 6 players who at least 3 of them will enhance the squad and be better than what we have???? Whether or not you think Vaughan, Conway, Hemed or Danns are shite, you still gotta answer that question!
  12. Since the wage is probably only around 10k a week, if the Tic are offering 5k more then I would say it's a no-brainer, especially someone with no allegiances to either clubs.
  13. TRU DAT!!!! But they do stir the pot and it does get frustrating!
  14. I hear ya and know what you mean, but do we have better wingers than him at the moment? I dont think we do (Wylde is still young)I just think that wingers that will be better than him are gonna cost of 2-4 million plus wages that are better than what he was offered. Do we have 2-4 mil to put into that area??? I just meant that he was a free, cheaper option who would improve us at least a bit.
  15. I wonder if Whyte has put any restricitions on the 10mil that he is making available to Ally. It could be that Whyte wants 5 players all 22 or younger who are going to be future superstars with great sell-on value that will accept 5k/week on 5 year deals LOL!!! I mean Whyte has stated they want value for money and will not pay over the odds but I wonder how realistic he is???
  16. No great loss!?!??!? Well he is better than what we have at the moment in that position and he is a free agent. I am not saying he is great or anything but when you don't have to pay a fee for a guy who will improve your squad then I see that as a loss. I know there are many better players out there BUT they are gonna cost us a transfer fee AND similar if not more wages.
  17. ALSO: Do you think Thompson is just trying to get us going by stating that he is "too expensive" for us??? Great bit of marketing he is doing there. He knows that will piss the fans off and make Rangers look skint. Good way to drive up the price when there is only one bidder. He's a pure tool but he is 1/2 smart I guess.
  18. The problem is that when we fart around for two months haggling over 300,000 for a player we very much want. Then a team comes in from England, offers the full price (or close to it) and then offers him more wages then he is off! It happens so many times to us. If he is going to be a number 1 or 2 target then it should be a priority that we do what we can to get him in. Spending two months or more haggling over that amount is ridiculous!
  19. To me it seems that we are low-balling players. I know we are not going to pay over the odds but you gotta pay a guy what he is worth. Just becuase we dont think a guy is worth that much, if others teams are offering it then he basically is. I don;t think we should get caught up in that too much but if we want any sort of 1/2 decent player then we might have to pay the market rate(even if it is more than we wanted).
  20. I agree!!! What frustrates me is the fact that in the papers they are stated as number 1 targets and we have heard over and over how we are so "desperate" to get these guys signed up. Then, nothing comes of it and they go some where else. I am not one to criticize Ally for who he wants to sign but why give off the indication that they are so important for nothing to come of it. That stuff just frustrate fans because we are left feeling that the club is stalling. A. Because we can't afford them or B. They don't want to come to us. I agree that the targets need to be talked about less. So far we have been follow 3 or 4 players and there have been articles about them in the papers every single day yet we have only just begun to talk to other teams. Pursuing targets that way is a recipe for disaster and is surely gonna piss the fans off. That is why I am so frustrated with it all-Every day we have another 48hrs. AND btw-we have known since January that Goodwillie is gonna be 2mil, so why call for a valuation of the player? I mean, maybe we have not ever made an official approach but Houston/Thompson have repeatedly stated how much they want. Like most of us fans looking from the outside in, it just seems that we don't handle transfers very well, but I guess that is just my opinion.

  23. I almost wish the transfer window was like a week long. This dragged out soap opera just kills me!!! I know that we need to negotiate and there are a lot of things to consider on both ends, but this takes forever!!! I am becoming freakin OCD with the transfer sites, checking them every 15 mins!!!! It's gonna be a helluva long summer if this keeps up!
  24. Before anyone comes after me, I actually read it this morning. I didn't mean "just read" as in right now.
