  1. He is right but I think its stating the obvious from Walter and theres too much negativity coming from his mouth on an increasingly frequent basis. Didn't need to be a back page headline. What do you want him to say though, kid on everything is all rosy. Which leads to more frustration? He's painting a realistic picture for us fans to get our heads around. I understand what he's doing but I think theres a fine line between creating a seige mentality among the players and painting things as so bleak that some will think they're beaten before they begin. It cant help the recruitment or retention of players with all the negative stuff in the press
  2. Why not put your faith in our youngsters like wylde and this year could be the year fleck comes good Agreed but thats not to say we shouldnt also buy younger players whether thats Nemeth or someone else. We're losing a good few players and my objection is to loan signings and signing old players because in a season or two we just find ourselves back in the same situation of having to replace them with no money. Is he good enough tae walk in tae our team or would he be a bit part player Matter of opinion obviously but i'd say he has better touch and technique than the forwards at the club. His goalscoring for liverpools reserve team was excellent so its a gamble on whether he can make a transition to SPL football.

  5. Top shout. So many stupid stories going around on here. Fair enough but the thread is sub-headed 'suggestion' so that those who dont wanna enter these type of threads dont waste their time. Bring back the old transfer window thread!
  6. And i'd rather have Torres but it isn't going to happen. My point on Nemeth is really that she sould be looking to the future, sign guys at 26 and under and move them on for profit if possible, Nemeth was just a suggestion but thats the route i'd go down. I wouldn't take on Harewood, Gattuso, Bullard etc for this reason. We are skint and need to be a bit more enterprising in our signings.
  7. The type of up and coming player we should be looking at for his present ability, potential improvement and future resale. We should forget the likes of Harewood who would be money down the drain at 31 on premiership wages. Nemeth is apparently available for around £1million and we could afford his wages as he's a reserve/youth team player at Liverpool. Always looked like one for the future to me. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11881_6261276,00.html
  8. Yeah I agree and concede its ifs, buts and maybes but hypothetically would you go for it? go for what? Would you take £10m for the pair if you knew there would be no replacement and it was for the debt what pair? boughy and davis? no chance, just to appease murray, no chance Boughy and McGregor. And not for Murrays sake either, for the clubs, fuck Murray i'm thinking long term gain. Less debt might expediate his departure

  11. Maybe its the beer talking here and i'm not even sure myself but should we sell Bougie and Shagger for a combined 10 million, clear half the and simply utilise Webster and Alexander? Ifs, buts and maybes I know but if such an opportunity existed it would be a year of potential hurt for a more manageable debt level and maybe just maybe we'd get away with it on the pitch too. Would you do this if the situation arose?
  12. Plenty of folk were saying that we're skint and we need the experience of Walter to wheel and deal this summer and put a capable team on the park given our miserly budget. I'll decide whether the sale of Thomson is positive based on whom we spend the proceeds and IF we spend the proceeds. If Walter can buy 2 wingers for £2million then its job done. Best of luck to him he'll need it given the apparent cut backs in the scouting system.
  13. I'm confused as i'm sure others are, we apparently cannot afford to offer contracts to those who have a year left yet we are going to bring players in? Surely you take the years budget, re-sign the important players such as Miller and Thomson and then look to see what cash you have left for new players. Not the other way around. Forward planning and bit of foresight should tell us that replacing Miller and Thomson will cost us more in the long run if we let them walk next season for free. If we do have to sell them then don't wait until the end of the window and hope to re-sign them on the cheap, get them sold now, make a few quid and use the proceeds to buy cheaper replacements on longer deals. To add to my confusion we seem to have signed up Weir who has no resale value but we haven't offered Thomson a deal who with a couple of years on a contract might be worth 3million? And where did the Boyd offer come from if we cannot offer new deals, or the Broadfoot contract for that matter? The time has arrived where the club ought to lay it out for all to see, WTF is actually going on with our finances, the messages are confused at best and deliberately misleading lies at worst
  14. How about Arne Friedrich, relegated with Hertha Berlin and out of contract. 30yr old German international defender, a potential Boogie replacement if wages could be met.
  15. If Brandan is a free I'd have him in an instant, and i doubt he'd be cover I reckon he'd play. Better going forward than Papac, a natural wingback
  16. I'd also consider Goncalves depending on wages, would love Koren but Kingston I wouldnt touch due to injuries and a perceived attitude problem.
  17. i thought so too but i was reading skysports site and hes saif that movve wont be happening and he'd like to play in Europe in a tough league. Hes 32 as is Maniche, not too old to tear it up in Scotland for a couple of years
  18. As we're skint, lacking in the creative department and its silly season I thought i'd throw in the names of Maniche, Robert Koren and Bresciano. All have been released by their clubs and could do a job for us. Maniche was at Cologne last season so I reckon his wages cant be too high either. Thoughts and suggestions....
  19. If Bayern win the Champs league and Holland win the WC then Robben is an outside bet. But really its Messis barring a miracle.
  20. I'd have included Banega of Valencia as creative cover for Veron and at the expense of Palermo who is past it. Too many forwards means he just isnt needed but Palermo seems to be Maradona blind spot.
  21. There seems to be an inference throughout this topic that Donald Park has definitely entered due dilligence. Have i missed something or is this more rumour.
  22. No, he was not in a position to sign any agreement last January because he still had 18 months on his contract. If such a document was to find its way to the papers then Birmingham would be in the shit, like Chelsea were. On the other hand an informal arrangement with Eck isnt beyond the realms but i just cant see why Boyd would agree to that because financially the best thing he can do is run his contract out and let the auction begin.
  23. Its not in Boyds interest to sign on if he has any inclination that he might move. Out of contract his wages will be higher at a prospective new employer. Sign on for the good of the club and the same number of teams may not be interested or as likely to pay a big signing on fee etc. If he signs on then moves to get us the money it will only be because he loves the club or because we pay him under the table for helping us out.
  24. The contracts that are running down are for players that I wouldnt miss tbh, Boyd being the exception. However, if we are so skint we sell Mendes and dont bother to replace him then i can't see how we make the numbers back up in the summer without either playing the youth team or punting both Bougherra and another like Mcgregor
