  1. This mob are a cut above the dross we struggle to break down domestically. Why we are expecting to break this down is puzzling.
  2. Nothing new then. Was depressingly confident that it would unfold like this tonight.
  3. Lobbing constant high balls in towards two giant defenders is a puzzling tactic.
  4. Great start to the evening, my RTV feed has crashed already. And yes it is legit.
  5. Ach well, beers in fridge, RTV sorted, now all I can do is hope for the best. History against us of course, there is a chance we can make some tonight, but everything has got to go for us this week, including a reversal of the atrocious luck that resulted in a penalty against. It can be done, but I doubt it, hopefully you can all come on here and slaughter my gloomy predictions later on this evening.
  6. Problem is that there is no guarantee that we will see the same intensity as we did on several occasions last season where we were approaching games with a genuine sense of optimism. There will be a lot of people attending tomorrow who will still be justifiably pissed off at that no show last week, who will not be slow in venting their frustrations should we not come flying out of the trap. As I said above, I am not placing my hopes on the eagerly hoped for "early goal", if it comes , great, if not we will just have to keep battering away at the defensive wall they will no doubt put up and hope to register with enough time left to get Alfie on and go for another.
  7. I realize that there is so much more to his game that the long shot at goal, but how nice is it to have someone in the team who not only has the confidence to have a go from long range, but also the ability to achieve the desired result on a regular basis? Anyone who had the pleasure of watching Jorg Albertz smash the ball into the net from all angles during his time with us, will know that Lawrence may be key in helping to break down the brick wall formations we are going to face for most of the season. Would not surprise me to see him well into double figures by the end of the season.
  8. Hope I am proved spectacularly wrong but I am not seeing much room for optimism here. USG will sit with 9 men behind the ball and just soak up the square passes all night, and they will get at least a couple of chances to break out. That being said, I do not buy into the early goal is a must idea (would be nice though) scoring without reply as long as there is a reasonable amount of time left, especially if we can throw Alfie on, would do. As I said, would love it to happen, but I cannot see us scoring the three unanswered to win the game outright. Will not surprise anyone I suppose if predictions were to go down the ET & Pens route. Could be a long night.
  9. Opposition playing a 10-0-0. Better get used to it folks as this will be every game domestically except against Them and perhaps away in Edinburgh. We have shown that we struggle against ultra defensive teams so you cannot really blame teams for doing it. Really hope Alfie gets some minutes when they are tiring, reckon this goes to the wire.
  10. With regard to the thread topic I am optimistic that we cannot play any worse than we did on Tuesday against Killie and the return against USG, although I realize that I am not setting the bar very high here. Hopefully we can get off to a quick start on Saturday as there are going to be a lot of pissed off Bears at Ibrox on Saturday and it will not take much going wrong for us for that anger to be heard from the stands. Quick start essential also against USG if we are to get the crowd onside and have any chance of rectifying that horror show from Tuesday, a scenario sadly that I cannot see unfolding. That team at the moment, even with a couple of additions from returning injuries, simply does not have it it IMHO to overturn that result against a well organized defensive outfit. Again though, in line with the thread topic, although I do not think it will be, it can be done, just got to keep fingers crossed and hope the VAR officials do not have another clusterfuck of an intervention as they did on Tuesday.
  11. Action replay of first half at Livi. Their keeper not tested in the slightest.
  12. Bloody hate the way UEFA are doing these draws, gets us talking about and worrying about things that are not in the least bit relevant until we tackle the current matter in hand. I realize that the timescales are very tight at this time of the year with the qualifiers but is it too much to ask, so difficult to do the draw when you actually know what teams are in it?
  13. Free admission to the Stella Brewery tour, just as well I am not over there, would probably have missed the game. From the local tourist board website. Stella Artois Brewery Tours and Tickets Free admission As the home of Stella Artois, this working brewery in suburban Leuven provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Belgium’s beer-based industry and culture. Guests can tour the factory floor to see firsthand how the lager is brewed and bottled, sample fresh draughts in the rooftop bar, or choose tasters to take home from the on-site gift shop. "Sample fresh draughts". I would imagine that there will be a fair bit of sampling going on today.
  14. No game at this level is easy, etc, etc, and of course that is the case. However we should be good enough over the two legs, especially as we will not be up against the 0-0-10 formation we face most weeks domestically. As I said earlier, there will be a goal or three in this one I think, hopefully we can come back home with an advantage that will see us through the Ibrox return.
  15. What are we betting tonight folks? Reckon their could be a few goals as USG will have to have a go at some point leaving space we could exploit. A couple of quid on Gers 3-1 @20/1 might not be too silly a punt. Would love a clean sheet obv, however our defence still has to settle and will see a new set up again tonight.
  16. He should have been sent off by the letter of the law, but I actually think that the ref today exercised a degree of common sense with how he dealt with the situation. Had the situation had been reversed with the Ref telling the Rangers player that one more dodgy tackle and your off, then we would be praising him for his decision.
  17. Stating the obvious, but the reason that we are so much more comfortable in the European arena is the fact that our opposition do not play a 0 0 10 formation against us. The Belgians are going to have to get a result to take over to Ibrox ,that negates the possibility of them playing the ultra defensive formation that proves so difficult to break down, no matter the gulf between the teams talent wise. Running the risk of being slaughtered after the fact, I reckon that at the very least we come back with a score draw.
  18. Those dirty palms built an Empire of which we should be justly proud , despite the best efforts of the WokeRATi to claim otherwise.
  19. He is using a proper salute. Rangers celebrate all branches of our Armed Forces. Given that the RN is the Senior Service, perhaps it is the Army and RAF that are using the wrong salute?
  20. Souttar is of this ilk. Whatever his shortcomings, we will be able to rely on him to put it all out there on the pitch.
