You get university teams playing in amateur leagues and there are university cups, etc but on a completely different scale to what they have in the US.

Ok mate. Messi scored 38 goals last season and has scored 5 in 4 this season. Rooney scored 20. tbh I was just trying to make a case for the underdog in this one sided argument. However if we suspend reality for a second, and imagine we got the choice to sign one of them for us, I may be more inclined to take Rooney as he would cope better in our shitty league. Nothing to do with football ability that much, just with Messi's slight build, SPL defenders would just go all out to break his legs!

Initially I thought this was a no-brainer as Messi is by far the more superior all-round player. However you could argue that the main objective of playing is to score goals and Rooney probably would make a bigger impact on any teams goalscoring figures and therefore is the more effective player.

When I was younger I used to have a strong interest in the national team and it was rekindled for a while when Smith then McLeish were at the helm, but the blatant anti-Rangers bias shown by the current regime has given me a total apathy towards the national side.

Surely we had to expect something like this when the club publicly stated that every player would be considered for sale at the right price. There really should not be any shock that the first offer that has come in is for our best player. However, despite the clubs financial situation I really do hope we dont just grab at the first offer of money that comes our way. If we are seen to give up our best asset so easily I would expect it would invite reduced offers coming in for the likes of Mendes and Davis. Yes we need the cash but I hope the club would be sensible when it comes to reviewing our offers. It is a big blow though as Bougie is the one player we can least afford to lose.

A successful run in the CL is a high priority but winning the SPL is a must. SPL for me.

May be very unlikely but should be going into these things with a positive attitude. Of course we have to be positive but in reality we dont have the squad for a decent challenge A lot of us seem to think we are world beaters sice we won the double, I think our cocky attitude might backfire on us just like Kanuas Who said anything about us being world beaters? Granted, I should have used stronger words than 'very unlikely' to describe our chances of getting 6 wins in the CL as its almost a certainty that it will not happen but last thing you want is a negative attitude from the fans on these nights particularly for home games. Look at it this way, Celtic have made the last 16 twice recently, we may not be world beaters but we're stronger than them and can actually play away from home in Europe.

GET OUT!! kidding mate, but thats what we have to think about now, a chance of getting past or into the last 16 of the champions league, in todays terms is a better acheivement than getting a decent run in the europa league( unless we get to the final of course ) I know, there is no doubt in todays terms the last 16 of the CL is more prestigious. But a chance at a European trophy is very tempting.

Hardly, most people may not particular like the guy and wish he wasn't on our TV screens, but doubt any fans would have actually wished this horrible disease upon him, and if they did they're scum of the highest order. Like the rest on here I hope he has a speedy and successful recovery.
