There's not a week goes by without someone banging on about sticking youth players into the team (the weird thing being that they haven't even seen them playing) the latest being Bates. I laughed at some posts a few weeks supporting the idea that the u20 side could reach the Challenge Cup Final. I know that when stenhousemuir pumped us 2/3 weeks ago we had a relatively young team but between that and the fact that the mhutant u20s are currently getting tanned 5-1 at ht to Livvy it begs the question what standard of player is currently in our youth ranks. It also raises concerns about scouting and coaching development - although it's encouraging to see Warburton overhauling our youth system. It's of vital concern because the way the transfer market is continually going it's possibly our only prospect to develop a top class team is to have a conveyor belt of talent coming through. Or is it unrealistic to develop an u20 side that could challenge in this tournament?
