We all know the keeper situation needs addressed but chopping changing them nearly every week is just as bad -
Accept I'm clearly on my own with this aye, have a drink and drown my sorrows.

Goldson was the only 1 of those players who had any sort of real option at the time, stay on the Brighton bench on a decent wage or come here, the rest when they first signed were all relatively unknowns & aye its great that they worked out but at the start they'll have been on much less than somebody like Lawrence/Matondo so it makes the risk much more manageable when it goes tits up Using Lawrence/Matondo as examples, both are rumoured to be on nearly 25/30k per week & both on long term deals. Both been here nearly 6 months now so over 1mil at least on wages (not including Matondo's fee), for 2 guys who have contributed as much as me/you this season for the club on the park. We're now likely stuck with both players for the next 2 years minimum, 1 who is injured & the other who looks disinterested at best as why would you leave that wage behind
-
Will rephrase it, players getting these types of long term injuries wasn't from what Gio and the staff were doing, refuse to believe that. We had ex world class players on the management team who played with the biggest clubs in the world. Certain players wouldn't sign for us, 100% accept that, you'd be signing players who actually want to be here & who have something to prove. You'd be going for players who want to win titles and get a chance in Europe, not just those using us as the biggest wage they'll likely see, who sign the contract then offer nothing.
-
Will blame Gio for a lot of things but not that, players like Tav/Goldson/Kent/Lundstram seemed to be able to keep themselves fit for 95% of the matches & Morelos is still as unfit now as he was when Beale arrived, players need to take some personal responsibility Lawrence's injury came from a stupid tackle he made when the game was already won, no need for it. Aye I agree the 1 year deal thing would limit us in certain aspects & it's extreme but there's got to be a middle ground between that and signing players like Lawrence/Matondo/Souttar/Yilmaz who have basically all contributed fuck all this season & are on 3/4 year deals.
-
Circumstances really don't matter tbh, he's taking up a big chunk of the wage bill and has played 5 games. So what's your alternative then? We continue so sign these guys on long term deals with sky high wages, who apparently have no track record of ridiculous long term injuries, who then contribute absolutely nothing while we sit crying out for players? Comes a point where it's not just bad luck we end up with these guys all the time.
-
Originally a knee injury, then a setback (wasn't explained by Gio) & now 'niggling pain' that needs him to go to a specialist... Seen it all before, next it'll be he requires some sort of surgery and we'll hope to have him back in pre season
-
For a free agent like Lawrence, aye mostly definitely, no transfer fee involved, still on a decent wage till he can prove #1 he's able to contribute & #2 that he's not a flop like many who come up here. Play well, prove yourself, get a better deal. Alternative is we continue to sign these guys on 3/4 year deals and are stuck with them on wages they won't get elsewhere.

Be a little bit harsh

Hindsight but we really need to stop signing these players on ridiculous long term contracts, same with managers tbh. Unless it's a young player on the cheap or something who we're hoping will rise, we simply can't afford another 25/30k per week sitting on the sidelines for the vast majority of the season 1 year deals preferably, 2 max, happily offer them a new contract if/when they've proven they can actually contribute. Going forward if its going to be Feb/March now before he's even considered then you're hoping by that point we've got a few players in and a settled side, fed up of this pish of he'll be like a new signing when he finally comes back...very rarely happens.

Player who has played 5 games in half a season and is on a very high wage at the club, 100% aye Looked decent in the games we've seen him but we've got enough bit part players/sick notes to last a lifetime
