  1. It's not just the fan backlash. It would make our board look even weaker appointing a man who turned the job down. For me once you knock back the Rangers job. You should never be in consideration again.
  2. I said the same myself in another post. If we decide to go for a manager in the league, Clarke is the best contender.
  3. He spent 14m on the team the season we reached the UEFA cup final. The teams mentioned above could spend that on a squad player. Pedro spent 10m in the summer and couldn't even get the team out of the 1st round. While Smith did spend money it's not a lot more than what we've spent recently. His biggest spend was his 2nd full season at 20m. And a lot of that came off the hutton sale and the money the UEFA cup run generated.
  4. It would take some spin doctor to get McInnes accepted after his rejection. While I don't think Murty is the man to take us forward. He's beaten Mcinnes 3 x times. He's also managed to get 2 points against Brenda while Mcinnes has lost 10 straight. Replacing Murty with Mcinnes would be the dumbest decision this board could make. The scary part it would not surprise me if they did this. If we decide to go for a manager in the league, Clarke is the best contender.
  5. The backlash on a McInnes appointment now would be enormous. Even our board can't be daft enough to think this is still a legitimate option.
  6. I agree that 10 IAR is not a given at this point. Yes there is currently a gap but it's not insurmountable. There is also an element of complacency creeping in with them, I think we can take advantage off. The share issue will improve our financial position. Also for the 1st time in years we have the opportunity to get a new kit deal in the summer without fat mike taking huge portions of the profit. The next strip is guaranteed to sell huge and we should be able to attract a decent deal on the back of that. We have a squad that has shown it can get goals in the league. What we need now is an experienced manager and defensive reinforcements in the summer. Once we cut out the cheap goals and get a manager with tactical ability we will be in a good place to challenge.
  7. This tarrior team is no where near the level of the 9IAR team. Just more provan bullshit. The Scottish press would have us believe the tarriors are going to cruise to 10. That there squad and resources are to big a gap to bridge. Utter garbage IMO. They are no where near as good as they would like to believe. We've shot ourself in the foot this season by starting with Pedro then not getting a decent replacement as they were there for the taking. With an experienced manager and 3-4 quality additions. Defence being a priorty. I believe we will challange next season.
  8. Be great to get rid of them. But we're stuck with them for the foreseeable. There's no one else looking to invest.
  9. Defence has to be the main priorty on the summer regardless of who's in charge. The number of cheap goals we have conceded this season is shocking. IMO we need a more reliable keeper as well.
  10. Article is a pile of pish. The usual from those within the Scottish media.
  11. There has been a number of articles now against Clarke becoming Rangers manager. That screams of fear to me. Provan and co don't want him ibrox as they know he'll be able to put foward a realistic challange. As for the rest of his article a pile of pish. The gap is no where near as big as it was in the 90s. Despite the bravado the tarriors aren't going to spend big money. They'll spend the bare minimum at best. We get ourself a quality manager. A Gk, CB and holding midfielder. We will be able to challange.
  12. Wish him well. Cracking football brain but didn't have the legs anymore.
  13. This is one comes down to price for me. I would take Moult if there is a decent deal to be done. But there's other areas of the team we need to improve first before bringing in another striker. CB being the biggest priority IMO.
  14. We never played to the Garner's strengths. He was dangerous once we started whipping crosses into the box. I never understood why Warburton signed a target man for his system.
  15. The DOF is going to have a strategy with regards to the players we are signing. The idea being we don't need to tear everything we've built up any time there's a manager change. I imagine he would have a shortlist of targets for whoever is in charge be it murty or a new manager and they would have the final say
  16. Looking towards the summer we need to prioritize defensive reinforcements before we go making moves for another striker. GK, CB and a Holding Midfielder for me.
  17. He's been doing really well on loan at barnsley. Recent championship player of the month. 6 goals in 9 appearances.
  18. Just depends on who leaves in the summer. Miller and Herrera will be gone. So space for 2 x strikers. Just need a formation that can accommodate 2 up front.
  19. Moult would do a job in the team. I would prefer but we went after oli mcburnie instead.
  20. I don't know how Hughes keeps landing job with premiership clubs. The best I ever remember him doing was at Blackburn Rovers when he did a top 6 finish. That was over 10 years ago. He's seem to be in that crop of managers that always get hired due to premier league experience.
  21. I can't see there be any truth to the Martinez rumors myself. With him managing in the world cup he won't be available until July at the earliest. If we go for a new manager we need someone in place sooner to prepare for europe. Mines is in order based on what I think is realistic: Steve Clarke Nigel Pearson MPH Neil Warnock Gary rowett
  22. Very good point. I don't believe in coincidence either. At that point I don't know why the board still wanted McInnes. Murty had beaten him twice. I still wonder if it was just to destabilize the sheep. There form went to hell during that period.
  23. No way they would be happy with Brenda. Diego Simeone or Massimiliano Allegri
  24. My preference would be for a manager who's at least worked within British football. With than in mind I'd be looking at Steve Clarke or Nigel Pearson myself.
