CooperSF 5,792 Posted June 21, 2009 Share Posted June 21, 2009 Seems that it's in the production line: We've heard that Hollywood will be turning more and more to the video game industry for ideas, which is both good and bad. It's good because it helps brings gaming further into the limelight, but it's bad because...well, you know why. Most movies based on games turn out to be crap; just ask Uwe Boll. Well, let's hope Boll isn't on tap to direct "Assassin's Creed," which is supposedly in the hopper. According to Kotaku, Variety's Ben Fritz has turned us onto two big games "on Hollywood's radar:" Bioshock and the aforementioned Ubisoft blockbuster. We had heard whispers about the former, but the latter is definitely a surprise, and we hope to high heaven that the powers that be don't screw it up. Here's the quote in question from Fritz's blog post related to EA CEO's John Riccitiello's "OMG Games > movies" speech: "...a few big games like "Bioshock" and "Assassin's Creed" are, I hear, on Hollywood's radar." Assassin's Creed was one of our favorite games of last year, and we hate it when excellent games are tragically transformed into movie turd. Don't know who I'd get to play Altair, out of that list probably Viggo Mortensen, sick of Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman and I think Keanu Reeves would be terrible.
