Tributes Request To Fans

0,,5%7E9280649,00.png| 1 | 2 |SUPPORTERS are asked to arrive early at Sunday's Old Firm derby and Monday's Memorial Service marking the 40th anniversary of the brox Disaster.

A number of tributes are planned before the 12.45pm kick-off on January 2 and fans are also welcome to attend the January 3 service which will start at 11am and will take place on the pitch in front of the corner of the Govan and Coplan Road Stands - the nearest place to Stairway 13 where the tragedy that claimed 66 lives unfolded.

0,,5%7E3514919,00.jpgAn official wreath will be laid at the permanent Memorial at Ibrox at 9am on Sunday by Martin Bain, John Greig and Sandy Jardine - a tradition that takes place every year to commemorate those who lost their lives.

Two areas will be set aside for additional floral tributes - around the official memorial statue and at the area where Staircase 13 formerly stood.

After the game these flowers will be taken into the stadium and laid on the pitch in preparation for the memorial service, which will start at 11 am.

Fittingly the two sides will be the led out by John Greig, who captained Rangers in the 1971 derby, and Billy McNeill, Celtic captain of that era

Both teams will wear black armbands at the match and the Rangers players will wear a commemorative shirt with a specially embroidered badge representing the 40th anniversary

Of course a minute's silence will be held prior to kick-off

A can collection will also take place at the stadium in aid of St Andrews First Aid (formerly St Andrews Ambulance) which played a significant role in assisting the injured on the day of the tragedy and continues to provide first aid assistance at matches.

| 1 | 2 |Following the tributes on the 40th anniversary, a special memorial service will be held at Ibrox Stadium at 11am tomorrow, the 3rd of January, which will be attended by family and friends of those who lost their lives, as well as representatives of Rangers and Celtic, the emergency services, dignitaries and politicians.

The stadium will be open to supporters who wish to pay their respects at the memorial service and the service will be broadcast on major TV networks as well as RangersTV.tv.

The service will be held at the Govan corner, the location closest to Stairway 13 where the disaster occurred

Supporters who wish to attend and pay their respects will be seated in the Copland and Govan stands

Members of the public who wish to attend and pay their respects should arrive by 10am in order to be seated ahead of the relatives attending the memorial service.

Fans can enter through gates 1 - 6 in the Copland and gates 41 - 45 in the Govan.
