is 5 new players enough

Recommended Posts

Think ally will right now be thinking of a base formation. My preference would be 4231. Which is easy to change to 451 and just as easy to change to 442. So in a 4231 from right to left I'd want two players for most positions.

So

Mcgregor

Alexander

Whittaker

Cole

Bougherra

Broadfoot

?

?

Papac

?

Davis

Hutton

McCulloch

Ness

?

?

Naismith

Fleck

?

Wylde

Jelavic

Lafferty

So I think we need more than five. Some could be bosmans. But I don't think Goodwillie is no1 priority. If u ask me. We need two centre halfs and a left back. A left winger and two right wingers.

I would sell edu. And ask if gattuso is out of contract. Keep Healy as cover. Only get Goodwillie if lafferty is sold.

Generally I think ally has a hard hard task.

As long as we keep or replace any who leave then five will take the numbers to around twenty three or four if as expected the likes of Darren Cole step up to the first-team this year which should be enough.

I would settle for everyone in there natural positions and being able to keep youngsters coming up every year at least two a year would be ideal in my opinion but realistically we will be lucky to get three youngsters the quality of ness wylde and Hutton coming through at one time again so next year Cole and maybe kye naismith or Archie Campbell or Perry Macmillan whoever it will be as long as there's a youthful scottish spine we can keep going forward and improving on the cheap.

Let the filth go and find there foreign players kayal etc he's a fairly good player is he better than ness who we produced our self from our youths no in my opinion he's not neither is he better than Kyle Hutton either so while they spend money on players who are not even likely I would say to be able to adapt to the stile of play in the spl were bringing through players who are just as good are almost garenteed to be able to handle the league here if used in there positions and for no fees what so ever for me this is how to run us going forward and financially its the best model to keep to.

Having said that I do think we need around ten players if the loans and people who could leave do and that's worrying that we have to gel all those players into the squad but to be honest it doesn't matter where the new players come from we are better than them at the moment without being able to spend money when we have even a little to spend as long as what we do spend is spent wisely we could be looking at ten in a row.

1. For starters I would renew all expiring contracts - Papac, Weir, Healy

2. Then resign all loanees - Foster, Bartley, Weiss, Diouf

3. Also make some signings to improve/bolster the squad - McAuley, Vaughan, Goodwillie

4. Finally offer bumper new contracts to star players - McGregor, Bougherra, Davis, Jelavic

Which leaves us with:

Goalkeepers: McGregor, Alexander

Defenders: Whittaker, Foster, Cole, Papac, Broadfoot, Bougherra, Weir, McAuley, Bartley

Midfielders: Naismith, Weiss, Fleck, Kerkar, Wylde, Davis, McCulloch, Edu, Vaughan, Ness, Hutton,

Forwards: Jelavic, Goodwillie, Healy, Lafferty, Diouf, Little, Hemmings

No, not with Weir, Papac, possibly Bougherra, Diouf, possibly Healy(who i would keep) all away and Weiss and Bartley already away. 5 is not even close to being enough. I am sure someone said we would be left with about 12 senior squad members this summer. <cr>

5 quality additions and 5 squad players would be more appropriate.

If we bring 5 good players into our first team we will be some team next year.

Cuellar, Weiss, Wallace and Goodwillie for first team. And one other, a quality footballer for the middle of the park. A dead ball specialist.

Bartley, Conway and a few others to add to depth of squad.

We have some right good players who deserve quality players playing next to them. I guess we just have to trust that Allys 'takeover shopping list' is of the right calibre.

McAuley is signing for WBA.

Re-sign Foster and Diouf ?? Surely not,I pray this doesn't happen.

G MacAuley wouldn't improve our first team in my opinion he's a squad player at best(thought he was joining WBA anyway).

Why would we blow money on offering Jelavic a bumper new contract when he has years left on his deal and seems perfectly with it ??
