carrickblue 322
If any of these guys, Green included, is really interested in giving the fans a say in the club they should follow the example of Ken Bates. When the future of Chelsea was really in doubt, he sold the pitch at Stamford Bridge to the fans. Not the whole stadium, just the pitch. But it made Stamford Bridge useless to those who wanted to flog it for redevelopment. If we could own the pitch at Ibrox the future there would be guaranteed. Even now when Abramovich wants to sell up and build a new stadium for Chelsea he can't move without the backing of the Chelsea Pitch Owners. Now of course Bates did this because he genuinely wanted to protect the football club - what about Mr Green?

carrickblue 322
you are the new President of Good Ideasif there was one thing we could get all supporters groups to back - could it be this?? Could we campaign really hard and publicly for the owners to show their good faith and commitment to Rangers by selling the Ibrox pitch to the fans??? What do people think? lau03143 141
Ibrox is effectively worthless anyway due to the costs of keeping the Grade B listed facade of the Main Stand, and the costs to redevelop the other three stands.Totally pointless for a developer to spend that amount of money on a property in Govan. The only people who'd buy Ibrox would need to be someone planning on using Ibrox in it's current form i.e. For football. Sobatai 70
It isn't the pitch ... it's the freehold to the land and rights to "Chelsea Football Club" as a name. And the price was £10 million, albeit Chelsea loaned the money to those fans.

carrickblue 322
the chelsea deal was a loan to CPO by the club of £10m which was repaid through selling 100,000 shares at £100 each - the figures aren't that important if the owner of Rangers (whoever that is???) wanted to protect the club's future and send a really strong message to the fans you could put together any scheme that would place legal ownership of the pitch in the hands of a supporter body

Ricky_ 893
i think it should be a campaign for all the fans to unite and get right behind. It's the first stage to fan ownership (even in part) and something which would safe guard the club's future.if anyone thinks we can get some wheels on this idea i'll happily make a poster or any other graphics to drive the campaign (pm me).
